Really important post. Vital. Life depends on it. I know, my choice and all but tacky as hell or unbelievably cute?

Cute! My DS and DD will be matching on Christmas Day

Underthesea65 · 18/12/2023 19:41

Tacky

Barmecide · 18/12/2023 19:41

As someone who was formerly one of those siblings, the tackiness is a side issue compared to realising that in your parents’ head, you’re just a generic unit in their aesthetic.

Marblessolveeverything · 18/12/2023 19:41

Tacky as hell, children are individuals. Nope from me.

KirstenBlest · 18/12/2023 19:41

It depends. If you are somewhere busy and one goes missing, you'll know what she or he is wearing.

Perhapsanorhertimewouldbebetter · 18/12/2023 19:42

Please no.

Plump82 · 18/12/2023 19:42

Tacky as hell and it's even worse if the mum gets in on the action and also wears matching clothes.

Depends on age, who cares if it tacky it's super cute if small

thelonemommabear · 18/12/2023 19:44

Ignore others and embrace the tackiness 😁
I have matching Xmas onesies with the kids 😂

Ablondiebutagoody · 18/12/2023 19:44

Cringey

Princessfluffy · 18/12/2023 19:44

Occasionally my mum made outfits for me and my brother and herself from the same fabric. I absolutely loved looking like my mum. Like my bro, not so much.

JustAGirlScotland · 18/12/2023 19:44

I am four years older than my sister and I completely resented wearing the same clothes as her. I didn’t like the same clothes as her as felt like I had no autonomy.

Ablondiebutagoody · 18/12/2023 19:45

But yes, also tacky as hell!

Nevermind31 · 18/12/2023 19:45

Mine wear matching stuff when traveling as that way, everyone knows they belong together.
but otherwise… don’t they choose what to wear (which may or may not be matching)?

CalistoNoSolo · 18/12/2023 19:46

Tacky as hell and also sad as fuck.

Same here, hated it with a passion and it really shows no thought at all

Passingthethyme · 18/12/2023 19:47

Depends on the age, used to think it was tacky but now find it cute. They have to be quite young though (like 4 and under). I can see it can be a good way to keep an eye on them both though.

Are you my cousin?!

Sorry, Sheila, but I thought you'd never ask. It looks ridiculous.

SequinsandSparkle · 18/12/2023 19:47

I still cringe at my mum making me and my two sisters wear the same outfit she had er made on her sewing machine, yeah MADE, to a party. So many comments and you could tell people thought we looked bad! Embarrassing especially when i was around age 9. I literally refused to leave the house if she tried that shit again

Reach9kat · 18/12/2023 19:49

I personally don't like kids dressed the same... especially older kids....but we were at a wedding recently and my 3 year old and 8 month old wore the same outfit and it was sooo cute. My mam was always dressed the same as her older sister and hated it, she didn't get a choice as the elder did and she then had to wear the hand me downs from her older sister so had to wear stuff she didn't like twice.

MuchTooTired · 18/12/2023 19:51

I think two same sex kids, aged 3 and under is adorable.

Opposite sex and/or over 3 is strange.

Having said that, a theme is acceptable in my mind, so dinosaurs or rainbows or whatever is cute. But again, got to be young kids or it just looks odd!

I dressed my b/g twins in themed clothes when they were babies on occasion, because it was cute (in my mind anyway!) but stopped once they got opinions on their clothes which was about 3ish. They’ll still do matching(ish) clothes or a theme occasionally, but that’s purely down to their deciding that’s happening, and nothing to do with me!

VisionsOfSplendour · 18/12/2023 19:52

More context needed, one off? All the time? Outside the house? Just nightwear? Are the siblings the same sex?

Are you Mrs Hinch? 😁

Aprilx · 18/12/2023 19:53

Tacky and as one of four girls who were often dressed the same, I can tell you that your children won’t thank you for it.

Heyhoherewegoagain · 18/12/2023 19:54

Tacky as fuck and especially unfair on the elder child
