According to recent threads:

Everyone over the age of about 35 looks way younger, constantly mistaken for younger, doesn't have a line on their face yet despite never using suncream, and their nan only used bin juice on their face and smoked 80 fags a day but had beautiful skin at 103 years old.

Everyone had sex with their complete stranger dp within about 4 seconds of meeting them for the first time, their dp moved in that night and never left and they're coming up to 762 years of happy marriage now.

Everybody on here seems to earn 200k in some mysterious job that doesn't seem to exist, they can't quite explain what they do, but they worked their asses off to get to this level of seniority which involves them working 3 hours a week for 2 weeks a year.

Interested to hear any more.

Nobody seems to drink tea.

It’s always,

“Why don’t you go out for a coffee?”

”Perhaps you could ask to meet him for a coffee?”

”Going for a coffee might be a nice idea for a date.”

It baffles me.

And people say that “coffee” is just used generically to indicate going to get a hot drink and so is inclusive of getting a cup of tea, but you never seeing anyone suggesting going out for a cup of tea with it being inclusive of having a coffee do you?!

It’s always about the coffee 😂

I think that's just because, for some reason, the places that you'd go for hot drinks are "coffee shops" not "tea shops". So "going for a coffee" makes more sense I guess.

That none of us need a GP: just ask MN

Your fat if you are bigger than a size 10
Stepchildren and blended families are the devil
Everyones DP earns 6 figures
UPF, Mcds and Fruit will kill your children
All children are 6ft supermodels
Any clothes not from Boden or Toast are hideously cheap and not stylish
Anything fun is the devil
Glass of wine once a week = alcoholic
Mother in laws are the devil/ all have early onset dementia
Eating a slice of Avocado can fill you up for 3 months

But why are they called Coffee Shops?
I assume you’re referring to well known places like Costa for example?

I imagine if someone looked at the menu of all the hot drinks that were served in Costa, coffee itself wouldn’t make up much of the total percentage of their overall offerings.

It’s an issue on a societal level, not just MN 😂

You can feed a family of 4 for a week with a large chicken

How hard so many peoples lives seem to be. That might sound flippant but it’s been genuinely eye opening. I don’t know anybody will a disability or long term health problem or “neurodiversity”; everybody I know is a higher earner, a home owner, has a career; if I think about my many friends, virtually everybody has good, solid, mutually loving and supportive relationships with their immediate family, and a good network of genuine friends.

So many MNers seem to have multiple health problems and lives characterised by financial, social and emotional chaos, with no or few friends and issues with their families. It’s sad, and it’s a state of being I didn’t know was so common.

Same here @ComtesseDeSpair x

I learned that we should all aspire to own a Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser. The Christmas threads are wonderful but the awe and wonder of this machine is intriguing.

Yes I think that the Velvetiser is the new heated airer.

Rewis · 11/12/2023 09:37

I've learned I'm fucking gross. Everyone changes towels after every use, shower twice a day, minimum of weekly charging of the sheets, pyjamas get changed every night.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 11/12/2023 09:39

Nobody just throws up. Everyone ‘projectile vomits’. Which is not that common but obviously adds to the drama. Also, the rate of contraceptive failures among MNers is far greater than that of the general population.

Also on here it's apparently very common in certain circles to not even contemplate your first baby until the age of about 41.

MILs can do no wrong, and women are obligated to treat them exactly the same as you would treat your own mother, whether that means letting them see your vagina, letting them enter your bedroom straight after labour while you're still bleeding heavily and in pain, giving them your newborn. Even if you barely know your MIL, you must treat her the exact same way you treat your own mother or you're basically a bigot and unfair.

After all your MIL was a good enough parent to raise the man you decided was worth your love, so it's totally fine to let her parent your baby any way she wants. It doesn't matter how rude or pushy she is you're not allowed to complain, otherwise you're just selfish and obviously don't like her do you OP?

AppleCrispMacchiato · 11/12/2023 10:03

Racism doesn't exist, it's all just a load of special snowflake woke nonsense critical race theory imported from America.

The exception to this is racism against white people, which is one of the most serious issue facing society. White men are the most oppressed people on earth, and that's why you never see white people in positions of power or accomplishment.

Oh and Meghan Markle is the literal devil and responsible for everything Harry has ever done.

Everyone's child has an entire alphabet's worth of complex neurological conditions.

Everyone is simultaneously earning over 100k per year and struggling financially.

Every man is an emotional abuser and a cheater, and every woman is wonderful, unless they're your SIL. Those bitches can get to fuck.

Everyone knows at least 7 or 8 people who died from COVID despite being under 40, fit and with no health conditions.

To be fair, that isn't just on here. That particular phenomenon is common to the entire internet, Twitter was the very worst for that. The number of people online who claim to have Long Covid is quite staggering. Also the number of people moaning because we still aren't masking as if it were 2020.

Because who would BUY tea out?! It’s not as good as you can make at home and inordinately more expensive. I’d invite someone round for tea and out for coffee. They’re obviously welcome to waste their money buy tea while we’re out though.
