Obvious one would be the lottery, but I'm also curious about things like 'make me a winner'/cash register or similar on the radio, BOTB/similar raffles/magic freebies etc

My mum once won pink concert tickets and £3000, both on the radio (separate giveaways years apart), I've never been lucky sadly 🤣

Purely being nosy, I also wonder what the average odds are for the radio, I've always thought it must be better than the lottery

A doormat, about fifteen years ago. Doormat is still going strong. A decent win.

MaryWhitehouseisCOOL · 10/12/2023 19:46

Wine tour trip

Afternoon tea at Harrods

mumda · 10/12/2023 19:54

£1000. Sadly it got paid into my business account.

Tangled123 · 10/12/2023 20:10

I thought I was doomed to never win anything except maybe my money back on scratch cards the odd time, especially after that time I gifted a £50 winner as a secret Santa present, but I did get tickets to a local comedian once through work. Think the difference was I never actually entered that draw on purpose, and I wasn’t there when it took place.

TimeForBedSaidZebadee · 10/12/2023 20:17

Dh enters a lot of competitions. On average he probably wins one prize a week.
A very expensive bike
Tickets for two to go to rugby quarter and semi finals in France, plus luxury accommodation, food and air fare.
£1001 cash
Two tickets for a Kylie concert
Loads of toys which we usually donate to charity as our dc are all older
I answered the door to a delivery driver recently with an enormous box. Turned out to be 20 huge squishables. 😀

Benibidibici · 10/12/2023 20:20

I won a thing on here once!

Got something like £200 of vouchers just for posting on a thread, it was great

PandaCory · 10/12/2023 20:54

I won two cash prizes this year, £1000 and £250. I was planning to treat myself, but then my car started making a weird noise and most of the money went on repairing it... I also won a set of kitchen utensils (Joseph Joseph ones, they're rather nice).

Dee1224 · 10/12/2023 21:23

A huge box of vegetables in my school raffle when I was 13 - my DM was thrilled - me, rather less so 🤣

I did also win tickets four years ago to the pre-sale evening event for an H&M designer collaboration- no freebies, but - after queuing for hours to get in - was able to shop the collection. I was happy enough at the time!

I think that’s about it 🙃

Moreorlessmentallystable · 10/12/2023 22:13

Came here for a nosey and surprised how lucky people are winning multiple things (some big ticket items too!) I only ever won twice: once a cake about 15 years ago, and a bottle of wine (2 years ago) in a work raffle, the bottle of wine was rank and the cork disintegrated and fell into the wine when I tried and open it 😂 so that pretty much sums it up 😂😂😂

Wellhellooooodear · 10/12/2023 22:18

I've won a fair few raffle prizes and also got £20 in a packet of walkers crisps in a little blue envelope which was exciting! Nothing of major value though.

LadyGeorginaSmythe · 10/12/2023 22:46

I won a wedding. Was abroad and included flights, hotel, registrars, food, cake, photographer, hair and makeup. We just paid for our clothes.
We weren't engaged but got engaged the night of the phone call and were married 3 months later!

SausageShop · 10/12/2023 23:03

Me and my mum won £15,000 each on separate tickets at bingo, I was 19 and she'd dragged me there reluctantly. We then won the next 3 £500 full houses on the same night - the daggers we got from the regulars!

FrogSplash · 11/12/2023 07:47

I won a really fancy coat on Mumsnet about four years ago but nothing else ever until yesterday. I won £100 from one of those online prize draw companies that pop up as Facebook ads and it was amazing timing.

We bought my Mum, MIL and Aunt the same Christmas present, a wifi photo frame thing which I spent yesterday afternoon setting up for them all. I was blown away by how easy it was to set up and send photos to and how lovely it looked. By the time I was done sending them all photos from my phone I was saying to DH I really want one too but at £90 this side of Christmas it's an utterly frivolous thing to buy.

He was apologetically saying he'd already sorted my gift... an hour later I won £100 and he was ordering me one :D

Scrumbleton · 11/12/2023 08:52

£575 on premium bonds this month. My sister won £6k another time

WoollyRosebud · 11/12/2023 14:30

Hurrah. Heard this morning I've won a Fitbit

lljkk · 11/12/2023 19:26

Tickets to Disneyland in ... 1989?

lalaloopyhead · 11/12/2023 19:40

Dh used to spend a lot of time entering competitions when he was a sahp...he won quite a lot of stuff....£5k, a good few weekends away and lots of smaller items like kitchen gadgets, trainers and children's toys...also recieving some very random items as runner up prizes. It took quite a bit of commitment timewise so doesn't do it anymore sadly now he has ft job.

Celticliving · 11/12/2023 20:28

Earlier this year I won lunch with champagne for 8 people in a lovely restaurant in London.

I'd just come out of a really bad mental health crisis (I have BPD) and so to able to treat my closest friends who had got me through it meant the absolute world to me.

When I was a kid we went to different holiday camps a number of times a year. I would always win the talent competition, and normally the disco dancing competition, so would always win another holiday for my family to go back to the finals.

I won a wok once in a Kikkoman soy sauce competition! I had to complete a tie-breaker, something like "I love Kikkoman soy sauce because..." and I said something lame like "It's the best there is!" And I won a wok!!

OAPapparently · 10/11/2024 18:01

£75 getting 4 numbers on the lotto is my biggest win.
I enter tv competitions all the time, but don’t answer phone numbers I don’t know, so it’s a bit pointless really! Would they leave a message if you win? Or just move on to the next number? 🤔

I know of someone who won a flat in a newspaper competition... set them up for life!

Me too, I wonder if it's the same person?

Commonsense22 · 10/11/2024 19:59

I don't think I've ever won anything in a luck-based competition!

ALunchbox · 10/11/2024 20:31

£5 in a scratch card
A radio in a newspaper contest
2 cinema tickets
£100 in a bank prize draw

I get the odd £50 in premium bonds but I don't see this as winning, I just see it as an interest. It'd be a win if I won lots!

hazelnutvanillalatte · 10/11/2024 20:37

I went through a weird phase of being upgraded to first class whenever I flew on a plane - happened around 4 times in a row

oneeggisunoeuf · 10/11/2024 22:50

I've won two different lots of expensive makeup, about £1200 on the lottery, tickets to my favourite band from local radio and 72 bottles of beer from a local brewery.
A friend won a holiday to Venice in a prize draw and my cousin won a car in a prize draw at a conference in Texas. They paid him the value of the car, as he obviously couldn't ship an American car back to Scotland, and he bought a motor home with the money.
