Do you have a TV in your bedroom?

We have a TV in our room but I never watch it, I'd prefer it wasn't there. Oh thinks I'm the only person in the world who doesn't watch TV in bed. Anyone else not have a TV in the bedroom?

I haven't got a TV at all as I have no interest in it - but if I did have one, it would be in the sitting room, not in my bedroom. I tend to judge people who have TVs in their bedrooms.

Judge them as what?

Allywill · 04/12/2023 21:27

No. But tbh it’s a bit of a moot point as I can and occasionally do watch tv on my ipad in the bedroom.

And it impacts on you how that I have a TV in my bedroom?

Intellectually inferior and morally vacuous obviously. Honestly, judge away. I’ve done far worse things than watch tv in bed 🤣

Deargodletitgo · 04/12/2023 21:34

Nope, better things to do in bed.

Yup and I love settling down for the night with it on low and the sleep timer set. Its background noise for me that blocks out the neighbours and street sounds. I know it's not great but I sleep better with than without.

Same, I'm currently watching Randall and Hopkirk (deceased), scrolling on here while lounging on my bed. DH is in his room, the dog in the front room.

slithytoveisascientist · 04/12/2023 21:38

Yes as otherwise we couldn't all play together

MooseLooseAbootThisHoos · 04/12/2023 21:39

Yes. Have always.

Getting into bed an hour early to watch TV is one of the highlights of a week night for us.

We snuggle up and binge watch whatever it is we're currently binge watching.

Makes me laugh that people think it causes less sex. Like sex only happens in a bedroom with no distractions.

PickAChew · 04/12/2023 21:40

I don't. If DH want to watch something in our bedroom, he just streams it on his tablet.

We're in the NE, BTW.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 04/12/2023 21:42

No tv at all.

Brats4kid · 04/12/2023 21:43

I have a TV but don't watch it!

Pushkinini · 04/12/2023 21:45

We used to have a small flat screen in the bedroom but our eyesight has got so bad that we both struggled to see it. We got rid of it. If we want to watch something in bed then we have tablets if needed.

To be fair, yes, we have two reception rooms with a tv in each, we also all have laptops. But we don’t watch tv in bed.

And to add to this question, now im thinking about it, if we didn’t have a second tv in a second reception room we would have one in the bedroom, as my husband likes to game, or watch sports, like golf for hours, and it leaves the other tv free for me to watch something if I want.

Bearpawk · 04/12/2023 22:55

@Titsywoo it's quite simply an observation. Most of my friends and family in the NE do, and nobody I know in the SE does.
I had one growing up. My mum still does.

Aquarius1234 · 05/12/2023 00:32

I don't but maybe I should.
I go upstairs too late mainly cos of watching tv downstairs.
If I had a choice it would be good.

neilyoungismyhero · 05/12/2023 00:36

Not for years. My husband would wake up early and switch the news on, waking me up. Inconsiderate oaf. I like to read at night and found it off-putting. We moved house and didn't bother re installing one.

FreshWinterMorning · 04/12/2023 18:45

No I don't - and I think they should be banned from being on in bedrooms! Bedrooms are for SLEEPING in FFS! It's one of the reasons me and DH had to move to a detached property. Our master bedroom was joined onto the master bedroom next door, and the woman who lived there, had her bloody TV on til 1am and 2am some days. We would go to bed to try and get to sleep at 11pm (as we had work the next day,) and all we could hear was her fucking TV against the wall. So selfish and thoughtless. Hmm

Edited

Yeah this was the first thing I thought: the tv noise. I stay with a friend sometimes and the party wall clearly have a tv on the wall upstairs

mondaytosunday · 05/12/2023 02:04

No. My late husband insisted though and would watch the news or Question Time then start snoring so I'd turn it off only for him to wake up and declare 'I was watching that'! So haven't had one since he passed away (though have to say when kids were little it was kinda fun them cuddling up in bed to watch something with me).

Doingtheboxerbeat · 05/12/2023 04:09

The snobbery is always funny as soon as the word telly is mentioned, but never laptops or tablets being used for exactly the same thing. Some people are just so extra.

LaurieStrode · 05/12/2023 04:12

No, it's poor sleep hygiene. Sometimes it would be nice but I resist the temptation.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 05/12/2023 05:04

No TV in the bedroom. I barely watch the one in the living room as it is, and for me the bedroom is just a functional room for sleeping in. I'm the sort of person who goes to bed in order to go to sleep, and gets up when they wake up, so the idea of watching TV in bed is as absurd to me as watching tv while in the shower, or while sat on the loo.

SpringIntoChaos · 05/12/2023 05:12

No, I've not had a TV in my bedroom since I got divorced 20 years ago, and never will! It's bliss 😍

(Used to be a huge bone of contention when I was married...I'd be trying to sleep and The Arsehole would be watching sport! Wanker!)

Dunnoburt · 05/12/2023 05:16

Yes. Love it......

Josette77 · 05/12/2023 05:21

Yes absolutely I freaking love it.

I'm a single mom, in a king sized bed with a pink velvet headboard and a tv across from it.

This is me living my girly teenage dreams .

I don't live with my partner but fear not I get lots of sex on the weekends. The TV somehow has not altered my sex drive.
