Do you have a TV in your bedroom?

We have a TV in our room but I never watch it, I'd prefer it wasn't there. Oh thinks I'm the only person in the world who doesn't watch TV in bed. Anyone else not have a TV in the bedroom?

Nope

HarrietStyles · 04/12/2023 18:44

No TVs in ours or our children’s bedrooms and I feel really strongly about this…… but my children think I’m a big meany! We watch TV downstairs and our bedroom is for sleeping, reading and intimacy!

dubmimi · 04/12/2023 18:45

Yes I love my tv in the bedroom! It's not connected to cable but have Netflix & prime on it & love getting into bed early to catch up with a cuppa!

user6776 · 04/12/2023 18:45

Yes, and I watch it often

FreshWinterMorning · 04/12/2023 18:45

No I don't - and I think they should be banned from being on in bedrooms! Bedrooms are for SLEEPING in FFS! It's one of the reasons me and DH had to move to a detached property. Our master bedroom was joined onto the master bedroom next door, and the woman who lived there, had her bloody TV on til 1am and 2am some days. We would go to bed to try and get to sleep at 11pm (as we had work the next day,) and all we could hear was her fucking TV against the wall. So selfish and thoughtless. Hmm

everybluesock · 04/12/2023 18:45

Nope. But I have my phone

UsingChangeofName · 04/12/2023 18:47

No, we don't.

DurhamDurham · 04/12/2023 18:48

I would hate a tv in our room, my husband would want to watch Sky Sports News on it and think it was fine as long as it was on mute Hmm

User136921 · 04/12/2023 18:49

Yes, where would DH watch his crappy sports programmes if there wasn't a TV there

ohyesohyesoh · 04/12/2023 18:49

No, we don't. We used to have one in a different house ( pre kids)
I think I'm the only person I know who doesn't have at tv in their bedroom. I know I wouldn't sleep as well if I did

Nofilteritwonthelp · 04/12/2023 18:50

No, never have

MrsMarzetti · 04/12/2023 18:51

No, my bed is for sleeping in.

ManAboutTown · 04/12/2023 18:54

I have a TV on the wall in my bedroom but dont use it much - mainly play the radio on it.

I don't even watch the one in my sitting room much - the one I do watch is in mu back room with the roof terrace. Brilliant in the summer and it's bigger than the other ones at 65 inches😁

boohooloo · 04/12/2023 18:54

Yes! Love watching TV in bed, and go to sleep with 'audio only' setting.

Someone mentioned less sex, but if you get a free weekend to stay in bed, watching Netflix or films - it makes for a very fun Saturday :)

For those that are TV watchers but don't have one in your bedroom -do you have multiple TVs in the house as I think that makes a difference. My wealthier friends have a 'children's tv' in the play room/teen den whereas we don't have space for similar so have one in my bedroom instead

We've never had a TV in our bedroom and have only had a TV in the playroom for a year. DH was very resistant to having a TV in there but now prefers watching that TV because it's a better TV. But in a larger family (we have 3DC) I think more than one TV starts becoming more necessary because people want to watch different things.

KimberleyClark · 04/12/2023 18:55

No. Only have a TV in the living room. Can stream on laptop or tablet if necessary.

anybloodyname · 04/12/2023 18:56

Yes ! Where else would I be watching The Jungle ?

I'm cosy and settled down and with one click of the remote I go to sleep 😴

vernatheraven · 04/12/2023 18:56

Yes and I love it. Love watching a movie or whatever in bed.

poetryandwine · 04/12/2023 18:56

We did when we lived in America and I miss it in the UK. I understand the received wisdom about the impact of a TV on sex and sleep, but that hasn’t been my experience. During these bloody cold spells it is much nicer to cuddle in bed, under the blankets, than on the sofa

Lyricallie · 04/12/2023 18:56

I do but we don’t really use it all that much, mainly just for Sunday morning cooking shows with a coffee (which is very comfy) rather than in the evening.

DandelionPockets · 04/12/2023 18:57

Nope.

Peccary · 04/12/2023 18:57

Yes, husband gets banished up there when he wants to watch a tedious sport. I do like to watch a film in bed with my 6yo occasionally.

WasteOfPaint · 04/12/2023 18:57

No, don't like the look of them or watch enough TV to justify it. Very occasionally watch something on a laptop in bed.

Sparehair · 04/12/2023 18:57

Yeah- in mitigation it was there when we bought the house. All the TVs are wall mounted and the vendor just left them. DH works away in the week and I tend to go up with the kids at 9 and then watch something for an hour before I go to sleep.

I know they’re frowned upon and I probably wouldn’t have actively installed one but I do like it.

Lightningrain · 04/12/2023 18:59

No, I haven’t had a TV in my bedroom since being a teenager. The only time I think it’d get used is if we were ill in bed.
