Do you have a TV in your bedroom?

We have a TV in our room but I never watch it, I'd prefer it wasn't there. Oh thinks I'm the only person in the world who doesn't watch TV in bed. Anyone else not have a TV in the bedroom?

Yes ! Where else would I be watching The Jungle ?

I'm cosy and settled down and with one click of the remote I go to sleep 😴

Lol this is what prompted the discussion. I've stopped watching celeb as its on too late, oh said why don't I watch it in bed as I never use the TV in there (only if I'm really really ill) and I said I just don't like watching tv in bed.

Hes now said OK you win more people don't have TVs in their rooms than he thought, he never usually let's me win I will be reminding him of this for a long long time 🤣

I do but rarely watch it ... and I don't share a bedroom with my DH so we would never watch something in bed together. It's useful if I want to watch something different. I didn't have one in the bedroom for years & was very vocal about not wanting one but during lockdown where we were all home all the time it was useful to have a second tv available.

steppemum · 04/12/2023 20:36

I don't like watching TV in bed. I don't find it comfortable to sit up in bed for long periods. Can't watch lying down as then you have bumpy duvet in the way, and anyway then you fall asleep.
My bed is really comfy to sleep in, I'd have to have completely different pillows etc in order to be comfy for sitting and watching TV. What a faff.

We do have a small TV in bedroom which is used if lounge is in use, so dh might use it is I have girls night etc. But it is rare.

But also, our box is in living room, so all our recordings are there. Our house isn't sophisticated enough to have one box and 2 TVs!

I love watching TV in bed and have one on the wall.

ITS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS TO DO!

Me too. I have a 55inch wall mounted bedroom tv and I creep up about 9pm with an ovaltine and get all snug to watch Netflix 😂.

Absolute heaven.

Also, on a Saturday morning when my DH goes off to work, DD6 comes and snuggles in with me early morning and we watch a Disney movie together. Bliss.

RedRobyn2021 · 04/12/2023 20:59

No I never have

I did use my iPad for a few years but now I have DD it's not something I do

luckylavender · 04/12/2023 21:00

I don't. Don't think it's a good habit.

Bearpawk · 04/12/2023 21:01

I don't, I live in the south east.
Most of my family and friends in the north east do.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 04/12/2023 21:06

Yep. Watching it right now and have been all day whilst ill and feeling sorry for myself.

It means DH and I can watch different things and DD2 watches it in the early morning when she refuses to sleep but DH and I really need to. She’s 3 so can’t just freely wander the house.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 04/12/2023 21:07

We do. It's referred to as the cricket TV as it's where I usually end up watching the cricket. It's not used for much else but I'm not getting rid!

TooShortToReachThatShelf · 04/12/2023 21:07

I've never had a tv in the bedroom - in my younger days, the bedroom was for sleeping and/or sex. Now, it's just for sleeping 😂

NeverDropYourMooncup · 04/12/2023 21:12

After being driven to hallucinations with a newborn because the ex insisted on having TV on into the night (no headphones, as they 'make my ears hurt') and then wanted it on extra loud from 5am before the onset of 24 hour TV, I have refused to have a television in my bedroom for 30 years.

DP brought the idea up when he moved in, but I made it very clear it was never happening - he's the sort of person who can go to sleep with the big light on and TV going with a loud film. Not here, he doesn't.

SocksAndTheCity · 04/12/2023 21:13

In bed watching mine now and envying @cannaecookrisotto her superior set up 🤣

My living room is cold, I've been up since 6am and travelling most of the day, so Family Guy in bed with a big mug of tea it is. My Neom pod is on too 😊

hangingonfordearlife1 · 04/12/2023 21:15

no, both kids do but they are rarely turned on. my mom does and watches hers hours at night from 9-12 🤣

OhNaffOffYouWazzock · 04/12/2023 21:15

No. I love being in bed and I like watching TV but I don't like watching TV in bed.
For me it's one of those things where the expectation doesn't meet the reality, I either fall asleep and wake up grumpy because the TV is disturbing my sleep or I can't get comfy and want a drink or a snack and have to go downstairs.

Titsywoo · 04/12/2023 21:16

Yes we have a bed with a tv built it (raises up from section in the foot of the bed when we need it). It isn't used often but sometimes I like to escape and watch on my own all snuggled up. It is also brilliant if either of us is ill.

bombastix · 04/12/2023 21:16

No. Never have, and never will. Growing up we had one tv. I've stuck with that, though no one appears to watch it much anyway.

pinkspeakers · 04/12/2023 21:17

No. Never crossed my mind. Neither of us ever watch tv in bed. Never use tv in hotel rooms.

Titsywoo · 04/12/2023 21:18

Bearpawk · 04/12/2023 21:01

What on earth has that got to do with anything?

crochetmonkey74 · 04/12/2023 21:20

Yes and I love it so much. I love an afternoon film in bed, I love doing my makeup on the bed with it on and I love falling asleep to it on timer. Couldn't be without it. I hate a quiet bedroom (grew up in a noisy city)

Janieforever · 04/12/2023 21:20

Singleandproud · 04/12/2023 18:42

For those that are TV watchers but don't have one in your bedroom -do you have multiple TVs in the house as I think that makes a difference. My wealthier friends have a 'children's tv' in the play room/teen den whereas we don't have space for similar so have one in my bedroom instead

To be fair, yes, we have two reception rooms with a tv in each, we also all have laptops. But we don’t watch tv in bed.

witchypaws · 04/12/2023 21:21

Yes but I never use it. Last watched it in 2017 after an operation which is why I got it Grin

avemariiiiiaaaa · 04/12/2023 21:23

Yep.

It's nice to have the choice to watch something different to my husband so one of us sometimes goes upstairs in the evening.

It's also lovely in the winter to get snuggled up in bed to watch something .

VivienneDelacroix · 04/12/2023 21:24

Yes, but we've had it three years and it's been on twice. One day I'll be off sick and watch films in bed.

Yes! Mostly watch movies in winter in the evening and snuggle with the cats!!

Diamondcurtains · 04/12/2023 21:25

There’s a TV in every room in the house except the bathroom.
