I think the time has come to get a bit of magic into our houses without people thinking you are crazy for putting the tree up this early. 🙂

Let's use this thread not to boast but perhaps to give each other some ideas or motivate each other to slowly get into a Christmas mood. It's been a tough year for many myself included and whilst I did take the box with the tree out I am still waiting for this final push to start setting it up/decorating. Would love to see all your beautiful Christmas trees.

@Happyhappyday Mine is artificial. I’ve never had a real one, they make so much mess! Ours is prelit too so no faffing with lights!

FiveShelties · 28/11/2023 05:01

Ifailed · 27/11/2023 21:08

A couple of these are actual (dead) trees, the rest are plastic monstrosities.

May the spirit of Christmas be with you.🙄

FiveShelties · 28/11/2023 05:05

We usually put ours up around 18th December but when we lived in UK it went up earlier. They look so lovely with the short days, have to wait until much later in the evening to see the lights here.

I love to see other people's trees and could not care one bit whether it is mid November or late December.☃🎄

DS also had the GENIUS idea of making his own hanging chocolates, by drilling a hole in squares of chocolate!

Our tree is a bit of a rag tag affair, but I love it. Every year I buy a big box (or two) of assorted lindt lindor chocolate balls, and I spend one evening in front of the tv, just tying cotton around each wrapper to hang them on the tree. Best tree chocolates ever! Our other decorations are a load of pinecones I collected in the woods with the kids one year when they were little, and which I then spray painted gold, copper and silver. Some of these have now been thrown as they got a bit raggedy but most are still fine, and we still have a shoebox full left. Also have some snowmen I crocheted a few years ago, and various things the kids have made over the years. The tree is almost always B&Q (usually when they reduce them about a week before Christmas). Sadly I couldn't find a pic when I looked just now. If I come across one later I will add it :)

Ohhh! I love the Lindt idea! I just hadn't got round to getting any tree chocolates. Didn't stop DS 7 though!

We also have homemade pine cone decs. Some made by kids in my class at school. Extra special!

Mine went up on the weekend

The dogs! ❤️
And the tree. But. The dogs!

PinkSkiesAtNight · 28/11/2023 05:23

Thank you. DS is 7. A bit too ingenious at times!

I love the memories that each decoration has, and I also like seeing the progression in DS' choice of decs. Especially for his sister. Apparently she's still really into the biggest fluffiest ones he can find.

These are all so beautiful. Love a tree.

I love Christmas and this is a great idea for a thread! I bought a new tree but ended up keeping the old one too 😅

That looks FABULOUS 👌

snowstorm2012 · 28/11/2023 07:49

Here's ours! I couldn't wait to get it up this year!

WOW, this is just gorgeous - with that gorgeous wallpaper as well! 😮

It's November fgs, of course the majority of trees are going to be faux at this point.

Loving all the trees. Ehar joy. Merry Christmas everyone. Star

My trees are BH fake trees. Oldest one is 15 years old. Environmentally you need to use a fake tree four times to equal the carbon footprint of a real tree. I don't want the mess of or hassle of a real tree. I don't know anyone who would only use their fake tree four times.

From the Soil Association ...

According to the Carbon Trust, a two-metre artificial tree has a carbon footprint of around 40kg, more than ten times that of a real tree that’s burned after Christmas.

In other words, you’d need to re-use an artificial tree 10 times to negate its carbon footprint, yet it’s estimated that fake trees are used only four times, regardless of improving quality.

@EveWinter thats really interesting. My tree is getting on for 25 years old! It was our childhood Christmas tree and when my parents bought a new one I had it as I was just starting out. Intended to replace it after a year or two but I never did and still love it.

ChristmasTree2023 · 28/11/2023 08:04

So much inspiration from all the beautiful pictures! I will be taking mine out of the box tonight 🙂

That’s lovely isn’t it @Falalalalaa . I remember the excitement of the tree coming out of the loft as a child. I’m just as excited to get the tree out as an adult.

I did have a phase of buying a real tree before I bought my first artificial one. I remember it being a huge investment for me at the time but has actually only cost about £10 per use after so long.

I added a small one for the snug five years ago so that’s now done it’s time and a huge one for our main reception this year.

I can imagine giving them to DC when they leave home and me just keeping the tiny one.

EnjoyingTheSilence · 28/11/2023 08:31

I’m looking forward to putting mine up now. Maybe this weekend

Love it! I always say there’s room on the tree for everyone as I get them out of the boxes x

CleverLilViper · 28/11/2023 09:03

Mine has been up since 1st November ☺️

Ever since I moved out on my own, I’ve decided to decorate when I wanted to. It makes me happy and I don’t care that it’s early. It’s my damn house.

I will post pictures when I get home and take some good ones as it has had a few additions since I put it up 😂🎄

Bohomie · 28/11/2023 09:04

Put mine up yesterday 🎄 🌈
Bought pre covid

Just a little hint , If you get the tree out of the box but it together then leave for 24 hours DONT dress it , then put on a pair of gloves and give it a good fluff , plenty of clips on YouTube showing how to do it . The tree looks so much fuller , so Thursday I will be getting it out the box ready for dressing on Friday or Saturday.

WingBingo · 28/11/2023 09:19

I’ve had this one for a few years now. DH won’t tolerate the mess a real one makes.

I’ve just moved house and I really enjoyed getting all the decorations out and finding a new home for them, this year.

@Pinkpinkpink15 Thanks! I made him, it's greenery attached to a tomato cage.

@kidsandpuppies

he's absolutely fabulous!!

Id buy one if I saw him at a market or something!

Itll be interesting to see how he lasts. Won't matter if he changes colour!!

Pinkpinkpink15 · 28/11/2023 10:31

QuestionableMouse · 28/11/2023 00:07

That's what I'm worried about! 😬 Tree and kitten are separated currently until I can figure something out.

Chair and desk are going to be moved - wondering if I can buy or borrow a play pen before Christmas!

@QuestionableMouse

kittens are lovely, but a nightmare aren't they!!

he's quite big, so as well as a play pen you'd need to put fabric around it (to stop him simply going through the bars AND have it far away from any launching pads, table/worktop/chairs.

best of luck!!

it all makes your long used user name even funnier!!

Mine won't be up for a couple of weeks but this is really getting me in the mood. I haven't seen a single tree I wouldn't be proud to have in my house.
