The ultimate SHOW US YOUR TREE megathread!

I think the time has come to get a bit of magic into our houses without people thinking you are crazy for putting the tree up this early. 🙂

Let's use this thread not to boast but perhaps to give each other some ideas or motivate each other to slowly get into a Christmas mood. It's been a tough year for many myself included and whilst I did take the box with the tree out I am still waiting for this final push to start setting it up/decorating. Would love to see all your beautiful Christmas trees.

@SocksAndTheCity that's such a good idea! This one is not in my living room (surprisingly I can't afford somewhere as grand on my NHS wage lol) but is from Friday night at The Piece Hall in Halifax. I had a dark hot chocolate and the Christmas Market there was amazing. I have been every year since I was a child. Hot chestnuts in this place are one of the only parts of my childhood I remember with fondness.

Great thread OP.

It's glowy, not blurry 😊

Now I want chestnuts 🤣

DanceMumTaxi · 27/11/2023 19:18

I’ll do the first one at the weekend then probably the second the following weekend. But both of mine are artificial so they last fine. Surely real trees won’t look very good by Christmas if they go up now?

Ihateboris · 27/11/2023 19:24

Here's mine...

I’ve name-changed for fear of being recognisedBlush

Here’s ours. We usually wait until December but felt like putting it up at the weekend

We also usually do red, gold and a mix of everything, but I bought all new decorations for the first time in about ten years - gold, silver, pink, white, blue. Still need to get a topper

Found out I'm having major surgery on my leg and foot in 2 weeks so thought I'd better get my tree up now.

My tree is a rental from Christmas On The Hill, who deliver living trees in their pots in early December and collect them just after New Year so they're not indoors for too long and can go back outside with the other trees for the rest of the year.

I've had the same one for three years (you can put a tag on them with your name so they can come back). It's one of my favourite Christmas things Smile

@SocksAndTheCity

I love the idea & I think I'm going to try it next year.

i looked at it before when I first heard about it, but too much renovating chaos ... don't ask, but still too much this year!!

do they bring them in & put them where you want them? What kind of stand/bucket do they come in?

That's actually a fantastic idea for the future although I am not sure if they deliver to all parts of UK. I haven't been able to find any companies like that around where I live but I absolutely love the idea of keeping the tree alive.

Love your snowy Christmas tree and when heavily decorated with branches and all kinds of flowers it looks stunning! The problem I got is once you get a particular tree (for example mine is just a classic green one) I find it hard to change decorations too much and I usually stick with the same colours each year . You gave me an idea for the future though!

P.s Hope everything goes well with the surgery.

@Weddingpuzzle

it sounds lovely!!

i looked at the website but couldn't see if you needed tickets for the market (assume not)

is the market with a 3 hour drive & overnight stay (to go both days! I love roast chestnuts!! 🤣🤣)

PinkSkiesAtNight · 27/11/2023 20:46

Mine went up on Friday, as DS is going away with his dad soon for the whole of the holidays. Sob. And so we wanted to enjoy the tree together.
There is a real Mish mash of decs, some bought cheap the first year, and every year DS and I choose a new decoration for him and his late sister. I love it.
DS also had the GENIUS idea of making his own hanging chocolates, by drilling a hole in squares of chocolate!

Someaddedsugar · 27/11/2023 20:55

@Yiayoula they are incredible! Those moon decorations are stunning!

elp30 · 27/11/2023 21:04

I love seeing everyone's Christmas trees :)

I don't have mine up yet because I usually get a real tree and I own a Mini Cooper and the tree is usually longer than the roof! I'm renting a car on the weekend for a completely different reason and picking up the tree then. However, I do have two photos to share with all of you.

I live in Texas and the Friday after Thanksgiving is when we begin the Christmas festivities. I spent the Friday in San Antonio and they have a very large party where they let off fireworks and light up all the trees along the River Walk. It's always very beautiful.

The second photo is of a tree on sale which I am sure will amuse you as much as it amused me. Yes, that's $1,250, approximately £1,000.

A couple of these are actual (dead) trees, the rest are plastic monstrosities.

SocksAndTheCity · 27/11/2023 21:21

@Pinkpinkpink15 the trees come in a large tub with soil and netting over them (it's easy enough to get off and put back on afterwards), and you get a big plastic saucer to sit them on - they need watering every day, although I've forgotten occasionally.

The delivery doesn't include bringing them inside the property so if you want one bigger than about five foot you'll likely need some help to move it as the tubs are heavy, but there's very little mess. The website is here

https://www.christmasonthehill.co.uk/

and I'm sure there will be others scattered about. I'll be a lot more helpful when the thing arrives and I can post a photo 😀

Have I missed a reference to a photo or is that a spiteful comment? I can't understand the context?

QuestionableMouse · 27/11/2023 21:27

I'm not sure mine is going to survive my kitten. He's fascinated by it 😂

Why not just enjoy the photos or scroll on by?

Oh bore off!

Some of us have no choice but to have a "plastic monstrosity" due to living in a flat with no outside space. 🙄

Here's ours! I couldn't wait to get it up this year!
