Firstly I KNOW this is a bit of a non problem and I’m being a bit of a brat!

DH and I had a discussion and decided that Christmas would be pared right back this year -absolutely not an issue.
I told him all I wanted was a dressing gown and slippers, and due to previous history was very quite specific about the kind of thing I wanted, and only just stopped short of sending him actual link wish I had now. Basically a cosy but still “nice” dressing gown and fairly structure slippers which I could wear outside, hanging out washing etc-think faux sheepskin mules kind of thing.

He said to me this morning “don’t look at the Amazon account, there are deliveries coming for me”

Being me of COURSE I looked 😳and he’s ordered the most fucking hideous dressing gown, think oversized checked lumberjack shirt, and marshmallow like slippers.

AIBU to give it a couple of days and “innocently” bombard him with links to what I’d actually like? I’m a terrible actress when it comes to opening disappointing presents, and I know that no matter how cold it gets, I won’t be wearing that dressing gown!

I'm becoming weirdly invested in letting everyone know that plaid /lumberjack is INCREDIBLY on trend this winter. Its the 90s retro look. My 12 year old would kill for a plaid /check red and black dressing gown.

I always send my husband's the link or get my Mum involved!! I'm quite specific too with presents!

Cancel the order / contact the seller and change it.

I'm thankful my DH wouldn't be hurt if I admitted I didn't like a gift. He once bought me a watch after me hinting after years of using my phone it might be nice to have an everyday style watch on occasionally. He went on to buy me the most bling watch I'd ever seen. He knew by the look on my face I hated it and just laughed and said somthing tells me its going back. At first I said it was lovely but also knew deep down I'd eventually have to tell him. He saved me the time 🤣

Soooo I just had a gentle conversation which went along the lines of …

I have a confession….You know how you said to not look at the Amazon account….

And he said “you hate them don’t you….send me a link to what you’d like” amd he laughed

Because thats how non difficult, non nasty grown ups who have a good relationship talk to each other….I didn’t want to hurt him by saying, even in a kind way that I hated his choice, even though I did, which was why I turned to mn in a light hearted way to get a spectrum of opinion as to what may be the best way to deal with it

You sound like a bit of a snob op. Lots of folk buy clothes from Amazon for one & while the pattern of dressing gown isn't your taste it's in no way HIDEOUS!.

But when you’ve worn it in first time round as an adult in the 90s….😂😂

Honestly op, he hit your brief better than you did imo as far as the robe goes. That next one looks nice enough, but I wouldn’t class it as cosy. His one is. I’d also imagine myself tripping over the next one as it’s so bloody long.

you also need to give him a point or two for making sure they matched colour wise. He’s not a total write off.

Can I suggest going forward you have a wish list on Amazon and other shops, then he can just pick things out as he goes along. You get a kind of surprise, and he knows he’s not shopping blind.

On a final note, love your own choice of dressing gown, enjoy it. I'm still laughing at calling the first one a monstrosity though 🤣

Well he'll be the one looking at it unless the OP plans on standing gazing at herself in a mirror. Maybe he's giving her a hint, nothing wrong with your husband fancying you after 30 years.
