Husband is meanypegs

I'm naturally very blonde, platinum. Menopause causing hair thinness and my DD cut my very long hair off for me to a chin length blunt bob 3 weeks ago. I'm only 49 Ffs. Today my husband (? Hmm) said to guests at a dinner that he thought I looked like Jimmy Saville. AIBU to never like him again? Utterly humiliated. I am a lot younger than him and he has done this sort of thing before. So hurt and embarrassed, Considering shaving my head.

This has gotta go in mumsnet classics lol

MMAS · 27/10/2023 20:07

Liking yourself to someone who is not appropriate is not funny. I would normally say it is sad that a person who needs this kind of attention has clearly a mental issue and needs to be taken seriously however, in this case feel the opposite.

Anon39 · 27/10/2023 20:23

The comment from your husband was really awful but I was laughing at the prickybeg response from another poster that is definitely the response to use if he ever dares say such nasty things again to you

Now then, now then, I have here a letter saying that your DH is a prickypeg

😂

pineapplecrushed · 27/10/2023 20:29

he's a dick, what a hurtful thing to say.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 27/10/2023 20:38

Op, ignoring your horrible OH's comment:

Thinning hair - try a shampoo with rosemary extract. I use L'Occitane strength & volume & it has worked wonders with my hair. You need to give it about 8 weeks before really seeing a difference but for me it was well worth the wait.
A bit pricey, but definitely worth it.

Meantime find a nice relevant retort to come back at him. Doubt he's a perfect specimen.

Winnipeg23 · 27/10/2023 20:58

Now now now then...his comment says nothing about you and everything about him. Total disrespect and no love at all. I wouldn't be staying...

PUGMEISTER21 · 27/10/2023 22:48

No filter or an arse ? Trying to take u down rather than build u up. The menopause is like having the rug pulled from under you and its a time for reassurance from a loved one. Personally I decided to lean into all the things I loved but never had time for including my appearance. My hair has started thinning and if Cancer sufferers say it was the biggest blow that tells you how weakening to the self esteem it is. If you can hold off shaving your head in defiance and either lean into some self care. The surprise haircut blunt bobs are very much infashion does it suit you? If not would hair extensions soften the look until it grows back? A lot of actresses use this to phase out hair changes. When your self image gets dented and you feel betrayed and bruised honestly what is going to heal this. Either partner is holding u back or you can focus on yourself more . Restyle yourself experiment with being more daring do not shrivel into the headline of this comment. By leaning into you u become the best version of yourself I say this to teenagers with self doubt and their hormones are recking havoc . All the greatness is achieved by becoming the true essence of who you are meant to be no comparisons needed. Truly as Sinead would say Nothing Compares to you .

Pointless to type out large paragraphs to OP, she won't reply. In September she posted that she was single.

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 28/10/2023 08:54

OP, I'm sorry he was such a jerk. Insensitive.
When I had too short haircuts(chin length is frumpy on me, I don't have the bones for it) I fasten the front hair back, with clips, or combs, and I look ok. I usually wear buns ir ponytails.

Before shaving go to a hair salon and maybe just needs a little shaping?

EvenBetta · 28/10/2023 09:43

It's been mentioned in the thread already.

billy1966 · 28/10/2023 09:49

What a mean thing to say and he has form?

Maybe you need to do some thinking about your future now your children are gone.

I certainly would be.

Pmsl best comment ever lol

Nipsmum · 28/10/2023 12:39

How long have you been with this rude man. If he can't say something nice, he shouldn't say anything.

Harls1969 · 28/10/2023 17:12

Years ago, when I'd lost a lot of weight, my DH clocked me getting dressed and said that I look like Mr Burns from the Simpsons. I found it hilarious - our love language is being rude to each other. I'd have found this funny too but I have no standards when it comes to humour

Brutalass · 28/10/2023 18:11

What an absolutely shitty thing to say!

Does he think that's funny? Endearing?

I'd be considering divorce.
