Husband is meanypegs

Belleweather · 25/10/2023 22:33

I'm naturally very blonde, platinum. Menopause causing hair thinness and my DD cut my very long hair off for me to a chin length blunt bob 3 weeks ago. I'm only 49 Ffs. Today my husband (? Hmm) said to guests at a dinner that he thought I looked like Jimmy Saville. AIBU to never like him again? Utterly humiliated. I am a lot younger than him and he has done this sort of thing before. So hurt and embarrassed, Considering shaving my head.

A trim'll fix it for you.

Best MN post I've seen for a very long time!

What is with the use of babyish language on MN these days. This is the second one I've seen today.

As for the question - he sounds like a dick but its a bigger problem for him as he has to live with being a dick whereas your hair is probably lovely!

I agree, it’s really disturbing, it’s not just the meanypegs word, but also “never to like him again”, and “shave my head”. It’s so juvenile. I just can’t imagine a middle aged women talking like this to other adults.

GasPanic · 26/10/2023 12:01

I would have replied "Now then, now then ..." and waved my arms in the air.

Fightyouforthatpie · 26/10/2023 12:02

I see I am in a minority, but having not seen it before, I love meanypegs.

LeonBlack · 25/10/2023 22:34

Meanypegs? What fresh hell is this phrase?

I really hope it was some weird typo 😁

This is absolutely inspired!

I can see the OP hasn't been back, even though they are a regular poster. Maybe they are embarassed, or given the time of night, alcohol was involved. Either way, the husband is an arsehole.

Bellaboo01 · 26/10/2023 12:06

I don’t understand what ‘meanypegs’ means!
Can you go to the hairdresser and have your hair cut?
How old is your daughter? If you can’t afford a hairdresser - it might be better to get an adult to cut your hair.
I suspect this post is a joke/troll anyway!!

CutiePatooties · 26/10/2023 12:09

WideLegPant · 25/10/2023 22:52

Now then, now then, I have here a letter saying that your DH is a prickypeg

I can’t stop laughing! 😂

flaxentoad · 26/10/2023 12:15

I'd tell him I'd fixed it for him to get a divorce.

Tell him you'll shove his badge up his arse later.

InSpainTheRain · 26/10/2023 12:16

If it's a one off and he's sorry then I think him paying if you want a new hair style and giving a grovelling apology would be enough. If he's not a one off why are you with him? Meaneypegs though - wtf is that.

WonderingWanda · 26/10/2023 12:21

I think total dickhead is a much more accurate description for him. Have you told him that you found this comment humiliating and hurtful? He shouldn't need to be told but sometimes (immature people / teenagers) show off to their mates and in an attempt to be funny can sometimes get it wrong and offend people. What matters is how they responsd when you tell them it was hurtful.

savethatkitty · 26/10/2023 12:22

These comments are Gold. I'm hysterical (and secretly still trying to work out the meaning of "meanypegs")

How's about that then !.

TravellingSpoon · 26/10/2023 12:22

What a bizarre thread.

You do sound childish though OP. Why didnt you tell him to fuck off?

AutumnCrow · 26/10/2023 12:27

How is this still up? It's so fakeypegs and offensypegs.

BananaMariana · 26/10/2023 12:27

Oh God, this thread 😂
Photos or it didn't really happen!

OfficerChurlish · 26/10/2023 12:33

If this actually happened, I'd focus my energy on why my husband's trying to score cheap points in public rather than telling me privately that my present haircut is unflattering/has negative associations for him.

littlefireseverywhere · 26/10/2023 12:34

That's because he's an arse! Is it worth going to the hairdressers to get yourself a nice cut, or if its already looking good don't worry about it. But, you definitely need a new husband.

GHSP · 26/10/2023 12:35

your dh has behaved horribly. But meanypegs? Tbh language like this is like a killer switch on my empathy instinct.

flaxentoad · 26/10/2023 12:35

I've even dragged Bing into this to enlist help:

Yes, being accused of looking like Jimmy Savile is an insult. Jimmy Savile was a British media personality who was exposed as a serial sex abuser and pedophile after his death in 2011. He sexually assaulted hundreds of people, mostly children and young women, over several decades. He used his fame and charity work to gain access to his victims and to avoid detection. He was widely reviled and condemned by the public and the media after the scandal broke out. His name and image became synonymous with evil and depravity.

Therefore, if someone says that you look like Jimmy Savile, they are implying that you are ugly, creepy, and immoral. They are trying to hurt your feelings and damage your reputation. They are being rude and disrespectful to you. You have the right to be offended and angry by such a comment. You should not tolerate such a remark from anyone, especially not from your husband. You deserve to be treated with kindness and dignity.

Lol at offensypegs. Im not going to be able to get that out of my brain now 😆 OP is a regular and recent poster, so I guess MN will give benefit of the doubt unless OP says one of the kids got their phone and posted this or suchlike.

Oh, come on, it was a joke based on the hair cut. He wasn't saying that she looked like a predatory sex offender FFS.

There was a very funny thread that I can't find (I think it made it to classics) where people talked about clothes, haircuts etc that they'd hoped made them look stylish but didn't quite go to plan and they really looked like Rose West or Great Aunt Agatha.

Which is the spirit that the OP should be taken in. Not that the OP should LTB because he's likening her to a sex offender.
