At what age did you had your second DC

DH thinks we are older parents at 40 and 35 respectively. Our friends had DC early in 20s and early 30s. We had our first DC in early 30s and we are planning for second. I have been arguing that we are average age and it's not too late.
Please share your opinions and when you had your second DC

I had my second at 30, third is due very soon and both myself and dh are 35. We actually seem on the younger end when attending antenatal clinics

Blippard · 18/10/2023 14:50

We haven't had a 2nd yet but if things go as quick and easy to plan as the first then we'll be 34 (me) and DH 33.

RandomQuestionOfTheDay · 18/10/2023 14:55

Me 36 (a month off 37), DH was 40.

The DC do say we’re older than other parents, most of their friends parents are 4 to 10 years younger than us. It’s not a problem though. Pros and cons of both. And it’s not as if we had much of a choice as DH was 36 when I met him.

StampOnTheGround · 18/10/2023 15:02

First at 28 and second (hopefully!!) at 31.

SarahLHs · 18/10/2023 15:03

First at 33, second at 36

StampOnTheGround · 18/10/2023 15:03

Also with my first I was definitely at the younger age (28) when I went to baby groups - a lot more were in their mid/late 30's!

Echobelly · 18/10/2023 15:06

I was 33 when I had my second, younger than most of my mates with kids; 35 is not old for a second, or even for a first these days.

Ilovecakey · 18/10/2023 15:59

Sapphire387 · 18/10/2023 16:05

First at 25, second at 27. Long gap, widowed, now remarried, had my third at 37, almost 38. DH is 42.

Conkersinautumn · 18/10/2023 16:06

30, 33, 40. I was definitely young with the first for my friends, but not my local area.

Bobbyelvis4ever · 18/10/2023 16:30

First at 35 (me) and 34 (him). Second at 40 and 39.

We had a personal deadline of falling pregnant no older than 40. Because of what was right for us. What's right for you might well be different.

I've got lots of friends who had kids in their 20s. At least half have since had kids in their late 30s / early 40s with subsequent partners. Again, it's what's right for them.

Hibernatalie · 18/10/2023 18:42

35

Goldfishonabike · 18/10/2023 18:44

First 32, second 34.
if you want another child and can manage physically, mentally and financially, then go for it and don’t worry about being “too old”. If you can conceive naturally you’re obvs nowhere near being too old!

35and3 · 18/10/2023 18:44

I had mine at 22,26 and 33

Purplebunnie · 18/10/2023 18:56

First 33 2nd 37 - I am mid 60's and most people seemed to be the same age as us when we started having children

Musicaltheatremum · 18/10/2023 18:56

30 and 32. Daughter is 30 and still getting her career going so will be 32 at least before her first. My husband had his first child at 42 and second at 43. So my step children are a lot younger than my children.

Lndnmummy · 18/10/2023 18:57

40

LouOrange · 18/10/2023 18:59

DTwins, 29
DC3, 31
DC4, 34

Think it really depends where you live! Think I am the oldest of the school run mum’s in DC4’s class by quite some margin which I didn’t really expect!
