At what age did you had your second DC

DH thinks we are older parents at 40 and 35 respectively. Our friends had DC early in 20s and early 30s. We had our first DC in early 30s and we are planning for second. I have been arguing that we are average age and it's not too late.
Please share your opinions and when you had your second DC

I do think you’re ‘older (not old!)’ but definitely not too old.

I was 23 first child, 29 second child. In hindsight 23 was probably a bit young. Late 20s would have been ideal for me.

CatLoaf · 17/10/2023 21:17

More people in their 20s than I expected! I had just turned 32 when second child was born.

CatLoaf · 17/10/2023 21:18

You're definitely not 'too old'!

Grapesoda7 · 17/10/2023 21:18

28 for my second

Hellocatshome · 17/10/2023 21:21

First at 23, second at 26. In my area I was an older first time mum, most of my kids friends parents had their first in their teens. But then a few of these are now going on to have more babies in their 30s when their first kids are older teenagers.

One friend is becoming a grandma and having her 3rd baby within a few weeks of each other.

I am more interested to hear from people who had their second DC in last 5 years.

No more now, but I don't feel too old

Yahyahs22 · 17/10/2023 21:25

First when I was 28, second at 30 and I'll be having my third at 32. So glad I waited 'later' as I'm mentally and emotionally more stable than I was in my early 20's

ButtonDownBev · 17/10/2023 21:28

DC1 - 24
DC2- 30

I would like one more in a few years. DH is 5 years older than me and I think I am on the younger end of the mums at the school gate.
I think mid to late 30's seem to be the most common age for first time mums, and then there isn't such a big gap between there DC- maybe just a year or two max.

zurala · 17/10/2023 21:30

We had our youngest when I was 39 and DH was 47. I wanted a third but DH said he was too old to do it again. I'm now 48 and would still love another but I do think I'm too old now!

CatLoaf · 17/10/2023 21:32

An older first time mum at 23?? 🤣

twinkletoesimnot · 17/10/2023 21:33

I had my 2nd at 18.

roseheartfly · 17/10/2023 21:34

31 for first will probs be around 36 for second all being well.

All my girlfriends are 30+

HumphreysCorner · 17/10/2023 21:35

Was 33, 36 and 39. X

AuraBora · 17/10/2023 21:38

First at 34, second at 39. All good but with hindsight think a couple of years earlier for both would have been better. Feeling quite worn out at 40 with still a few toddler years ahead...

SleepingStandingUp · 17/10/2023 21:42

2nd and 3rd at 38, 1st at 33. Lots of my friends were 33-41

roarrfeckingroar · 17/10/2023 21:42
