After a long period of not working due to illness, I'm about to try part time again. Curious about what the time ranges are for people working, full or part time. What would be your ideal schedule if you could pick?

For myself as I get older I'm going from a complete night owl to preferring to get stuff done and out of the way as early as possible. Despite still not being great at mornings at all. But I get exhausted much earlier in the evenings now and once I'm tired my brain shuts up shop and can do nothing useful. I am only 38!

Half hour commute, leave about 7.30 to get in for about 7, officially start at 8.30

OppsUpsSide · 10/10/2023 17:25

To get in for about 8 I mean

Dacadactyl · 10/10/2023 17:27

I'm same age as you and have worked a variety of patterns over the years.

I do 18 hours a week. I work 4.5 hours a day, on my working days. I have one full day off a week.

My commute is 20 mins including parking up and walking across to the office.

Beezknees · 10/10/2023 17:28

I work full time 9-5. I do 2 days in the office, 3 days at home. Commute is a 40 minute bus ride each day but traffic in the morning is terrible so I usually get a bus around 7.30 just to make sure I get there on time.

I'd prefer an earlier start and finish but it's customer service so 9-5 is expected. My child is older though so I have no childcare or school runs to add into my day, on my WFH days I just shut the laptop at 5 and I'm done.

JustMarriedBecca · 10/10/2023 17:29

I do full time hours as I found in my industry (professional services) part time just means full time work, part time salary. But I work from home so no commute.
My ideal part time hours would be 9-3pm term time only 😂

wellandtruly · 10/10/2023 17:30

I work full time but slightly compressed hours. I work 8-5 and the commute is an hour and ten minutes each way - on a good day.

cartagenagina · 10/10/2023 17:31

Mostly wfh. Full time hours are 35 plus 30 minutes for lunch.

I usually work 8am to 3.30.

ASCCM · 10/10/2023 17:31

I work full time but mainly from home. I maybe go to the office or another location 4/5 days a month.

I start around 8 and finish around 5.30 most days. But sometimes I can be 8pm and I often work at the weekend too to catch up. So generally between 45 - 50 hours per week. I get paid for 37.

NeedToChangeName · 10/10/2023 17:32

I WFH. Get up at 6.30am. Start work at 7.30am. Finish around 4pm

LakieLady · 10/10/2023 17:32

I start at 8.30.

My commute takes 1 minute at most, which is one of the joys of WFH.

Watto1 · 10/10/2023 17:32

Leave house at 7 and arrive at work at about 7:20. Work officially starts at 7:30. Half hour lunch break. Finish work at 4 and home by 4:30. Suits me! In fact, if anything, I’d prefer to start earlier and finish earlier but that wouldn’t suit the business.

cadburyegg · 10/10/2023 17:32

I work 30 hours over 5 days. 30 min commute to the office on 2 days including time parking and walking up. Rest of the week I wfh.

LakieLady · 10/10/2023 17:33

Forgot the last bit: I do 17 hours over 3 days.

GlitteryFarts · 10/10/2023 17:33

I work 25 hrs a week 9.00 - 2.30.
I leave around 8.45.

itsgoingtobeabumpyride · 10/10/2023 17:33

I'm 57, working full time though.
My commute is 10 minutes in the car then a 15 min walk.
We do 35 hours a week, 7 hrs a day and there's no start/finish time, just have to do the 7 hours.
It's also hybrid so I do 3 days in the office and two at home.
I start before 7:30 and I finish at 15:00 unless I have to go out on site.
I'm interested in your thread as I'd like to go part time or condense my hours, I'm knackered too!

RaininSummer · 10/10/2023 17:34

Full time. I leave the house about 8am and get home about 5.45.

diamondgreen · 10/10/2023 17:35

I work 37. Really flexi though. Sometimes wfh and sometimes office, sometimes community. Only ever doing one of the above for 1-2 days a week so it’s lots of variety.

Office days I wake up at 7am, get the 8am train and get to the office at 8:30am ish

WFH I log on at 9 but often choose to work through my lunch and finish at 4:30/5ish

TheDuchessOfMN · 10/10/2023 17:36

I leave my house at 8.40am, drive 30 mins. Sit in my car for 10 mins, start work at 9.20am. Finish at 2.50pm. Leave the building at 3pm. Get stuck in school collection traffic, so I’m not home until 4.

Didimum · 10/10/2023 17:38

Full time. I WFH 8:30-6pm on Mon and Fri and in office 9:30-4:30 Tues, Weds, Thurs. my commute to office is 1hr 30.

RufustheFactualReindeer · 10/10/2023 17:38

I work 3 days a week

2 from home 8.30 til 5

1 day at the office and it’s probably about an hour or just over commute each way

ValancyRedfern · 10/10/2023 17:39

I work full time as a teacher. Leave the house about 6.45, half hour commute so in at 7.15. Leave for home about 5.30, pick up DD at 6 and home by 6.15. Normally 5-6 hours work at the weekend.

Plump82 · 10/10/2023 17:39

I work Monday - Friday, 36 hours a week. I start at 6am and finish at 2pm. I work from home so get up at 5:30am. When I need to go into the office I have to get up at 4am. It's a killer and I couldn't do it if I worked in the office permanently. I love finishing at 2 though as I have the rest of the day to myself.

RufustheFactualReindeer · 10/10/2023 17:39

Oopsie

leave at 7 am and home by about 6.15

HelenaJustina · 10/10/2023 17:40

Same age as you, work 8am-4/4:30 (only paid until 3:30). Leave the house at 7:20 and back by 5pm. Term time only.

HelpMebeok · 10/10/2023 17:41

I work 37 hours. Usually do 8-9 at home then go to office for 9.30. Leave around 4.30
