Recently been burgled and have now set up indoor and outdoor security cameras.

Nanny isn't happy about the inside ones. I'm happy to switch them off during the day but I don't want to get rid of them entirely.

Don't most people have cameras everywhere nowadays anyway ?

If you think it's worth keeping her happy, then turn them off when she's there, if there's a simple way to do it.

Personally I wouldn't, I would say my house my rules, and make it clear you have internal cameras to your next cleaner.

I've given her the option to switch them off, but to turn them back on when she leaves the house ( if I'm not there ). She has them switched off all day now.

I don't think it reflects that well on her that she wants them switched off at all times. I suspect it's because she likes to play on her phone with the TV on for my kids for most of the day and doesn't feel comfortable doing that with cameras on. But that's a whole other topic in itself.

I hope she remembers to turn them back on...

You obviously don't like your nanny and want to get rid of her

How long has she been with you ?

Camera. I have worked in many big /posh houses with them (I'm a maternity nurse) but I make it clear I don't have in my room as I get changed there and don't want someone watching me sleep or hear me fart 😂

But most have a camera outside

I have cctv at my home but only outside so can see drive and garden

I didn't like the video baby monitor much but it served a purpose I turned it off as soon as baby awake. I wouldn't have cameras inside my home especially with small children as these systems can be hacked. I'd worry about the possible footage of my kids (or me I've nipped between rooms sans clothes before) naked being out there somewhere. Maybe farfetched but I believe people have had randomers chatting through their baby monitors. I just don't want the risk. Pretty sure if you are recording your kids in the nude it could be legally problematic. Fully understand that's not the intention of the cameras and maybe my kids are just closet nudists but they'd strip off in the hall if got soaked on way home and run around in the nude if wait for sibling to get out of the bath etc. They are bit older now so will normally change in private but between 3 and 6 had no modesty.

Good luck finding a new nanny. I’m not sure I’d want to work for you! 😂

Oh ok so you're one of those that wants to sit on their phone all day, while letting kids watch TV.. haha no thanks.

I'm not looking for a new nanny anyway, so it's all good.

I have never been on my phone in my working day. But I would not appreciate my charge's parents recording me absent mindedly scratching my bum or picking my nose, or more likely, have them micromanaging everything they see me do with their child on the camera.

There is middle ground between not wanting to be monitored on surveillance cameras, and being shit at your job and sitting on your phone all day. Cripes. I’d definitely not want to work for you!

As luck would have it, I am not a nanny (couldn’t think of anything worse) and am not in need of your employment.
