To think David Beckham just looks like a standardly attractive man?

All these threads about the Beckham documentary and so many people going on about how 'easy on the eye' / beautiful he is.

I'm not saying he's unattractive but I don't get why he's so objectified?

He just looks like any average bloke to me.

Why the hysteria over his looks?

Siameasy I said the same to my adult son about David's lips, his lower lip looked all rubbery)(who made me watch the documentary as he is manu fan.)
What the hell was going on with Rio Ferdinand's mouth all twisted. Never liked Rio anyway for all the pain he caused his deceased wife with all his affairs and now acts like husband of the year.

He was beautiful and photogenic as a younger man in the way of a Leonardo DeCaprio. He was a good footballer and style setter. I don't think either man has kept those beautiful, heart throb looks as they've aged. DB does still have a lovely smile, charm and he seems a kind man. He still has the type of profile where he could do good things (charity works etc).

I feel the same about Rio. I'm not a Man U fan but liked Paul Ince in the documentary. He's aged well. Very fit indeed.

All of the Beckhams, including the kids, are plain. They just have plain genes. Nothing wrong with that but don't hold them up as good lookers. You seen Beckham's mum and sister? A whole load of money has been spent running away from those genes!

He is absolutely not average looking

He has a bit of a Simon cowell look going on. He’s clearly had Botox and a brow lift. That is off putting.

He’s ok looking but any attractiveness whatsoever goes out of the window when you factor in the vile tattoos, the gormless voice, his unfaithfulness and his lack of integrity.

Not really. I love looking at a handsome, successful, easy on the eye man as much as the next lady…. Just don’t get the hype about him that’s all. Much of his face now is down to good cosmetic surgery.

@Lovethatforyouhun DB is 47, loads of nice men at that age. Not bragging but DH is 51 , fit , slim and handsome. I still think DB is nice.

I like the tattoos.

It's the fakery and absolute pursuit of the limelight and a knighthood I'm not so keen on.

Add the botox, tax dodge, selling your kids privacy....

I've always thought him very average looking. It's the dodgy teeth and feminine voice. Ronaldo isn't my type at all (and loves himself far too much) but I can't deny he'd probably qualify as good looking.

Gareth and Gary would love this thread though (and both far more engaging). I do like a rugby player, sadly I'm not Welsh but Leigh Halfpenny is always a pleasure to watch, ahem.

I think he's got sexier as he's got older. On the day of Harry and Meghan's wedding there was more on my newsfeed. Commenting on how fit DB looked than the bride and groom. Even seen some comments from men one from Jason Manford. Just an appreciation photo VB on the other hand looked miserable and that outfit did her no favours.

I think he was a late bloomer. About the time he shaved his head was when I thought he had grown into his face and was proper handsome.

He’s had too much work done now and looks odd. His eyebrows are too dark and his brow is too heavy. He should have let himself age gracefully like Gary Neville who looks quite good now.

I thought so when he (and I!) was younger but not so much now. I think it’s not the aging though, I’m in the minority I think but he comes across as having a mean streak. Those emails about a knighthood, the way he was in that prank video about the statue (as much as I hate pranks) and then how he stopped Victoria from speaking in the documentary at times. Thats side from the cheating rumours. So, yeah… I don’t know.

I thinknloads of these footballer typrles bloom in middle age but it must mostly be because "someone" professional has got hold of their image. I give you Gary Lineaker and Alan Shearer as examples.

And look what happened to Graham Potter when he went to Chelsea!

When he had far less tattoos he was better than average (to me). Now, not so much. I also spend a lot of time contemplating if he has spray on hair /transplant/weave every time I see a picture (I appreciate this makes me very shallow).
