Just noseying on Rightmove - how did any of this get past building regs? I thought the lack of handrail on the stairs was bad enough until I saw the landing!

The landing looks like something off Mario kart

TiredandLate · 01/10/2023 22:12

That sets my vertigo off just looking at it!

Same !

DairyQueenforever · 01/10/2023 22:18

Oooh that’s just near me ! I’ll have to do a drive by !

Mischance · 01/10/2023 22:18

Why do people with money to burn have such seriously crap taste in decor?

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 01/10/2023 22:19

I would also have to crawl up the stairs and on the landing on my hands and knees.

countvoncount · 01/10/2023 22:20

Why do I like it?
It's so brash, very 80's
I'd meet my end sweeping down the hallway in a feather trimmed robe and matching mule heeled slippers

MissingMoominMamma · 01/10/2023 22:20

I imagine a 70s footballer who wears Pringle type jumpers living there.

whatausername · 01/10/2023 22:20

Tbh I'm more likely to break my tailbone or my neck on that marble flooring in the bathrooms. Water + marble = vvv bad things

PheonixAndTheCarpet · 01/10/2023 22:20

Looks like a set from a weird psychedelic horror film 😱

sparxmaths · 01/10/2023 22:20

Can’t be real!

SwishSwishBisch · 01/10/2023 22:21

Indiana Jones ‘leap of faith’ bridge aside (seriously, WHY would you choose to live life - quite literally - on the edge like that!?), do the PPs slating the decor (money can’t buy taste etc) not realise it’s clearly not been touched decor wise since the 90s? Some people don’t redecorate every few years! I’m sure it was all the rage at the time 😂

TheFireflies · 01/10/2023 22:21

Horrendous. Perfect if you want to murder someone and make it look like an accident.

PavoReal · 01/10/2023 22:21

From the description it was built 1989, and it looks like they haven’t lifted a finger since. Even the garden needs so much work. It’s probably twice the size when you cut it all back.

donkra · 01/10/2023 22:21

Dear God, there are artificial columns in the living room. I know the 80s were not a good time for architecture, but come on.

Moveoverdarlin · 01/10/2023 22:22

When it was built in 1989, I would have been 9 and I would have thought it was the absolute height of sophistication. I would have loved it, the lack of banister would have just added to the glamour! I had those Austrian blinds in my bedroom and like another poster said I can imagine Boycie and Marlene having some cracking parties here.

TeenLifeMum · 01/10/2023 22:22

The stairs I can cope with but that landing?! I’ve currently got an ear infection that’s making me dizzy and I need walls!

Beastieboys · 01/10/2023 22:23

It's the toilet and bidet in front of a clear glass window AND with a massive bath separating them that has me agog, surely with the sheer size of the rooms they could have been discreetly placed for some privacy!!

Brocollimatilda · 01/10/2023 22:23

What’s with the weird pillars with the sofa underneath? I’d fall off that landing within a day.

LizzieSiddal · 01/10/2023 22:24

God the whole thing is hideous.

It’s like a mad Fairground House of horrors.😱

Titective · 01/10/2023 22:24

That is an amazing house! Who has a downstairs toilet the same size as a decent sized bedroom?? Or even equal in size to the study!?

But yes that lack of handrail and bannister is an absolute death trap. I'd be scared just doing a viewing never mind moving in with furniture! Literally would need to get a carpenter in on completion day.

Would love to make that house a home though.

Scylax · 01/10/2023 22:24

I think the house is beautiful despite the hideous carpets, but yes, definitely an accident waiting to happen. If they don’t want rails they need a net!

Scylax · 01/10/2023 22:24

Sorry, connection issues, double post

LouLou198 · 01/10/2023 22:24

Photo 22! I am so clumsy, I would be dead within a week if I lived there!

Brocollimatilda · 01/10/2023 22:25

What’s with the weird pillars with the sofa underneath? I’d fall off that landing within a day.

Lindy2 · 01/10/2023 22:25

I love the stained glass window at the top of the stairs but oh my - some serious health and safety work needs to take place. The plummeting over the landing or off the stairs and breaking your neck risk factor is way too high for me.
