Just noseying on Rightmove - how did any of this get past building regs? I thought the lack of handrail on the stairs was bad enough until I saw the landing!

Actually love the house 🤣 it's weird and got great 'bones ' .... But stairs are a deathtrap... Why spend all that money and not put bannisters on stairs and landing.... Omg I couldn't cope.

Saz12 · 01/10/2023 23:00

Probably done long enough ago thst building regs no longer relevant.

But youd think basic common sense woukdve intervened....

Tombero · 01/10/2023 23:00

Terrifying. It’s going to give me bad dreams just like the house with an electricity pylon in the front that someone shared a couple of years ago. It’s wrong in many ways.

FlopsSake · 01/10/2023 23:02

Bloody hell. I dont think id like to walk round there . My kids would be the first to leg it off the edge! What is it with the million pound homes and decor?! Gardens are beautiful and it could be a really lovely house but jesus, its a no to the chintz

Flickersy · 01/10/2023 23:02

With a name like that, all those sofas (including in the kitchen...) and jacuzzi baths, the number of huge bedrooms, you know it's a swinger's club.

IdaPrentice · 01/10/2023 23:04

If someone buys it they can replace the carpet and curtains and put bannisters in (and get rid of the greek style columns and architrave!) but what's very weird in the actual architecture of the house is the front section which is all glass panels, but with a solid wooden door in the middle. So anyone arriving down the drive can see right in to the house (except the bit that's blocked by the door) - so strange.
I did think perhaps an Asian family because of a few clues (bidets, carpet, Islamic wall hanging), but I'm not sure.

Do you reckon?! 😜

transformandriseup · 01/10/2023 23:06

Oh man I suffer from vertigo and I'm now going to dream about those stairs 😔. I actually wouldn't be able to go near them.

>Footballers house betcha

My money would be on Iranian.

Park Road is the B5160. Five minutes to walk down that, cross the main road, continue on it (now Charcoal Road) and you reach Brackendene.

That's the site of the former Northern Consulate of Iran. Not sure what state it is now, but:

Take a look inside the derelict Iranian Embassy in Greater Manchester - Manchester Evening News

Why? Stained glass peacock for a start over the main door (which faces the carpet on the wall up on the landing).

The once grand property in Brackendene, Bowdon was home to delegates and dignitaries but now since the expulsion of the Iranian embassy in 2011 fire and vandalism have seen it turn to rubble.

All of the carpets in that house should be illegal.

And the curtains

FrippEnos · 01/10/2023 23:08

Does the bedroom in pictures 25 and 26 lead out on to the flat roof of the conservatory?

BrutusMcDogface · 01/10/2023 23:08

I have a very weird feeling that I’ve either seen this before, or have actually been there! I’m pretty sure I haven’t, though…😬

TheFifthTellytubby · 01/10/2023 23:08

"Exposed landing". New estate-agent speak for "death trap". 😄

tpxqi · 01/10/2023 23:10

Forget that. But they have carpets and curtains in the bathroom. Never understood the batshit people who put upholstery in their bathrooms.

Redlarge · 01/10/2023 23:10

Its absolutely gorgeous apart from the weird archway midroom. Id give my right arm for a home like that.

Grimchmas · 01/10/2023 23:12

100% if I had the money I would buy this house 😁

I'd be crawling up the stairs and across the landing on my hands and knees until they were made safe, mind!

I'm going to sounds ridiculous but I can see why they made those stairs without a banister - they are beautiful. Pity they're lethal 😅

transformandriseup · 01/10/2023 23:12

I've just seen the gap between the landing and the windows. Omg 🙈.

thriftyhen · 01/10/2023 23:12

Horrific!

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 01/10/2023 23:13

Yes, but you would need your two arms to crawl around on the landing Redlarge :)* *

MoiraRosesBaybay · 01/10/2023 23:14

It looks like something from Falcon Crest or Knotts Landing.

Grimchmas · 01/10/2023 23:16

Was the architect high when they designed that lovely tall arched stained glass window and then decided to just cut away the landing behind it because it was inconveniently placed?

I mean, it's like a house somebody built in SimCity or something 🤣

It does!

Its one of the computer generated sets from Knightmare! You just want a kid in an over sized viking helmet being guided around by three inept friends!

Screams 'sourced my carpets from my hotel chain suppliers'... and 'I'd really like an engine shed but I am not allowed one'... absolutely horrific and I would probably pay that much NOT to live that close to Altrincham!

Omg ha ha 😂 🤣 😆

Redlarge · 01/10/2023 23:21

Altrincham would bother me more than the house.
