Then he launches into online safety bill which isn’t very interesting.

It's also not the gotcha he thinks it is.

It's a derailing and DARVO tactic and he's using it to try to prove he's just "being silenced."

I *Do think it’s odd though how they’ve been able to shut his channel down

I don't know how it works but I'm guessing he was getting paid from YouTube ect for advertising and what not and now those channels have said they don't want to work with him. He can still use them but not as a platform to make money??

WarriorN · 23/09/2023 08:03

That was my take.

It's like being suspended pending investigations.

Who is RUSSEL?

Russell Brand.

IncompleteSenten · 23/09/2023 08:03

Let me guess.
I'm hugely important. 'They' are out to get me. Conspiracy, Illuminati, I know things. Beware.

EasternStandard · 23/09/2023 08:05

Loads of comments underneath. A fair fee calling him out but more supporters (maybe only looked at top few)

KTSl1964 · 23/09/2023 08:05

The women in the programme do not appear to have gone to the police to report the rapes and sexual assaults. Then the police can investigate. He needs income to pay the staff he employs. I think he has done a great deal of work on himself in the 12 step programmes he’s attended for all his addictions. I always used to think what a slimy sod he was and couldn’t stand him - he has turned his life around in many ways - however I see his sex addiction as a how a drug addict will act and in the depths of it they steal, lie and abuse other to get their “fix” - I think he is guilty of these allegations but me thinking it won’t get justice for the victims - they need to go to the police.

The maxim of the presumption of innocence applies in one place, and in one place only: a criminal court. It applies there because it is the forum in which the state can apply its maximum sanction. It applies literally nowhere else, nowhere, anywhere, ever. People are perfectly free to decide on someone's guilt in any other forum. People are even free to say it publicly; the only constraints are the laws of defamation or contempt if a trial is in progress.

Russell Brand is in turn free to sue the multiple media outlets whose investigative journalism over a period of years has led to this. In making this public, those media outlets will have had lengthy in-depth legal advice on the likelihood that such an action would succeed.

The most useful thing about the presumption of innocence is the people who come out to defend it and do so solely when the allegations involve crimes against women and children. Identifying the rape apologists amongst us is indeed helpful.

What's unfair is the sickeningly low rate of prosecution of rapists, and the even lower rate of conviction. What's unfair is that a man accused of rape is many many many more times likely to have done it and simply walked away without any criminal sanction than it is likely that the woman (in this case multiple women) involved has lied. What's unfair is that rape apologists care only for the damage done to the perpetrator, and not for the life-changing damage doe to the victims.

@MissTrip82
this is amazing.

Most people get paid while suspended?
They dont cut off your income while they investigate.

He’s self-employed effectively he’s reaped the benefits of that. I doubt he’s paid fuck all tax for years, and now unfortunately this is the downside of self-employment.

Innocent until proven guilty. I’m not in favour of trial by media. Allegations of rape and assault should be police business, not material for a media feeding frenzy. Assuming that at some point Brand is actually formally accused of a crime, how exactly will he receive a fair trial from a jury that will have been subjected to weeks of coverage of actions, which in many cases are already being implied as being factual crimes.

Many might suspect Brand of wrongdoing, but the methods used on him since last week could just as equally and effectively be used to ruin a person totally innocent of criminal actuvity (which may or may not also refer to Brand). Presumption of innocence as opposed to criminality isn’t some cute little thought experiment we can ignore whenever we think “yeah but actually that sounds right”. It’s one of the fundamental tenants of Western civilisation.

Not really.. I don't think anyone's ever left my Bedroom feeling Raped.
If for some strange reason a ton men accused me of rape. I could get accused absolutely but they'd be no evidence against me.
Unlike in RB case.. School girls delivered to his door like a piece of meat. The guys a massive creep and I have a feeling this is going to get bigger and bigger.

hollyblueivy · 23/09/2023 07:35

@BelleHathor Thank you for posting that.

What do the MPs and government get from stopping his access to monetising his platforms?

I'm trying to establish whether this is a government that are seeking to act fairly and reasonably in light of the allegations or if there is indeed some darker theory at play, which RB would like us to believe.

As Frisky pointed out, this is an MP who is not technically in the Government. However she has clearly gone far above her brief to ask private companies about their commercial relationship with RB.
The reason RB asked people to move to Rumble (he has been signed with them for over 18 months) is because their CEO basically told her to get lost.
So I don't know whether it's the "Government" pushing this or using it as distraction, but it's not a good look in a free and fair democracy. Extremely North Korea.

Some people, who walk this planet do not have human souls. I mean that literally, not metaphorically.

How they treat animals is often a good litmus test.

Another thing he bragged about in his booky wook.

Quite possibly. Some people just give you the creeps. It’s disconcerting to look them in the eye or to attempt to connect with their soul.

@RudsyFarmer
Trump isn’t the same. He’s human.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 23/09/2023 07:16

If his defenders say Russell Brand is meant to be completely innocent until proven guilty in court, does that mean they think it's safe to leave their daughters with him? They wouldn't be the slightest bit concerned and take his reputation into account? And it's not trial by media, it's exposure by media.

'It's not trial by media it's exposure by media' EXACTLY.

The state isn't depriving this millionaire rapist of his liberty. He isn't locked up.

I believe in innocent til proven guilty too - I believe his victims are innocent of lying and defamation x

IClaudine · 23/09/2023 08:19

Calling people "awakening wonders" is very patronising. Brand really does have some people so in thrall to him that they don't realise he thinks they are beneath him.

Dighi · 23/09/2023 08:20

@WarriorN what did he say he did to animals, as a child? I know it’s in his book but I’ve never bought any of his books (since I’ve never liked him!).

CornishTiger · 23/09/2023 08:21

I refuse to give him a click on his instagram but the daily mail provide the transcript.

What Russell Brand said in his latest video:

'Hello there you awakening wonders, obviously it's been an extraordinary and distressing week and I thank you very much for your support and for questioning the information that you have been presented with.
'By now, you're probably aware that the British government has asked big tech platforms to censor our online content and that some online platforms have complied with that request.
'What you may not know is that this happens in the context of the online safety bill which is a piece of UK legislation that grants sweeping surveillance and censorship powers and it's a law that's already been passed.
'I also don't imagine that you've heard of the trusted news initiative and now, as often is the case when a word like trusted is used as part of an acronym to describe an unelected body, trust is the last thing you should be offering.
'The trusted news initiative is a collaboration between big tech and legacy media organisations to target, patrol, choke and shut down independent media organisations, like this one.
'We'll be talking about that on our show on Monday on Rumble but just to give you an idea on what the TNI is, this is a quote from one of their spokespeople:
"'Because actually the real rivalry now is not between for example the BBC and CNN globally, it's actually between all trusted news providers and... digital platforms."'

I was responding to someone likening it to him being suspended. I wasn't professing to know his employment status, i havent checked.

Stroopwaffels · 23/09/2023 08:25

It's deflect, deflect, deflect. He didn't even say anything about the allegations or crimes. He is just taking the line that his followers expect, that the mainstream media is out to get him, that the government is out to get him, that it's all a conspiracy.

Some hard of thinking people are lapping it up. I feel sorry for his pregnant wife, and two small children.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 23/09/2023 08:25

@Alltheprettyseahorses , a ‘not guilty’ verdict in a U.K. court of law does not mean that the person is necessarily totally innocent. It just means that guilt has not been proved (for the jurors) beyond reasonable doubt.

Obviously this means that quite a few guilty defendants will go free, because most jurors will not want to risk convicting an innocent person. When I did jury service it was impressed on us by the judge of our first case, that if we had the slightest doubt, we must return a not guilty verdict.

I don't have a direct quote but dog wasn't allowed up stairs, he'd coax it upstairs, then yell at it and kick it down stairs and then comfort it afterwards.

Something about enjoying the confusion in its eyes.

But better to read the direct quote tbh.

Something about hamsters too.

Yep we thought the same the other day.

Bull. Shit.

He has denied accusations, reversed the victim and the offender.

DARVO.
