I take it he gets paid on Rumble .

Revolutionfrommybed · 22/09/2023 23:42

He didn’t address any of the allegations levelled against him, just rambled on about big pharma and the media etc Nothing exciting just the ramblings of a lunatic (a sexual predator and lunatic).

anotherside · 22/09/2023 23:42

@BlurredEdges

I don't think we need to say alleged. The Times, Sunday Times and dispatches journalists worked for three years to make this watertight

Totally agree. Let trust a Murdoch publication with our legal system. Not like they have an infamous history of outright lies and smear campaigns or anything like that. Fuck trial by jury. Let’s just go with whatever that bunch of reporters and journalists decide.

spookehtooth · 22/09/2023 23:44

Guilty or innocent is kind of irrelevant to me personally. The extent & severity of the mysogony he exhibited publicly in his career was genuinely a surprise to me. I'd never seen enough to know. That alone is enough for me to not want to put money in his pocket by watching his content.

Mooshamoo · 22/09/2023 23:47

I have to say - looking at that video he looks a lot helathier than he used to.

He used to look a right mess

anotherside · 22/09/2023 23:48

@Revolutionfrommybed

He has already denied the allegations to to the extent that he claimed all actions were consensual. Presumably he has a team preferring his defence behind the scenes, and so the only consequence of “responding to allegations” in any detail would be giving any future prosecution team material to use against him. “I didn’t do it/ I was doing X at the time / Statament Y was a lie” etc, is stuff for a courtroom.

I’d have thought that’s pretty basic stuff. But it seems some people are expecting the whole thing to now play out by media.

Xrays · 22/09/2023 23:00

He’s delusional enough to think he’s some sort of messiah. He gives me Charles Manson vibes. Horrible man.

Oh God you're right. He DOES give Charles Manson vibes. I knew he reminded me of someone I just couldn't put my finger on it.

MaudGone · 22/09/2023 23:49

He's afraid...

Mooshamoo · 22/09/2023 23:50

He is creepy

Furryrug · 22/09/2023 23:51

@spookehtooth same here . I only saw him in St Trinians and heard the Andrew Sachs phone message , since these allegations have been made I've now watched the clips of his shocking behaviour towards women.
Have you heard him speaking to the 16 year old on a radio show?

Someone asked what was in the content so I told them, I wasn’t particularly expecting him to address anything, I was just answering a question.

flappersdelight · 22/09/2023 23:52

Can't believe he's still on the grift. Not a jot of humility or shame.

PurpleMonkeys · 22/09/2023 23:54

Innocent till proven guilty...

Saville is therefore innocent.

anotherside · 22/09/2023 23:56

@Xrays
He gives me Charles Manson vibes. Horrible man.

And yet, allegations aside, it does sound like 100s of women happily slept with him. So seems either there’s a lot of females with fairly “out there” tastes in men, or otherwise there’s suddenly a bit of “historical revisionism” going on.

VerasRaincoat · 22/09/2023 23:56

@Xrays you have hit the nail on the head. Total Charles Manson vibes. I’ve always hated him, two friends of mine from completely different friend groups have told me their nasty experiences with him. Won’t say more as I don’t want to say anything that could get me sued. But I can say without a shadow of a doubt I believe those women.

Probably! Grin I am just so sick of fucking hearing about this twat Russell Brand! Angry I know I know I don't have to open the thread. Wish I could block certain words on here like you can on twitter. I would block Russell Brand and BREXIT! Grin

Edited

Can we have a Russell Brand topic GrinGrin

So we can quarantine him into a nasty little hole and not be troubled by all the billions of threads that I keep unwisely posting on

What do you call a man trapped in a paper bag? 🤣

It was what do ya call a man in a bunch of dry leaves?' when I was younger. Grin

He is not a good speaker. He drones on in his videos.

anotherside · 23/09/2023 00:07

@PurpleMonkeys

When we say that Saville is guilty, the assumption is that with the weight and quality of evidence available to police, had he been brought to trial, a conviction on numerous severe counts would have been, say, 99.999% likely.

That’s what we mean when we say he was not innocent. But for the other 99.9% of cases which aren’t quite as overwhelming in their amount and degree of evidence, I think it’s probably best we keep innocent till proven guilty before a jury.

Though we could certainly all save a lot of time and effort if we in future just forego the whole trial, jury, prosecution, defence malarkey and left justice to a viewers poll, or the opinion of a newspaper or investigative team, or which side can produce the more convincing 90 minute documentary.

LaffTaff · 23/09/2023 00:12

He makes a generally accepted point about the media; informed people tend to consider the media in the UK an almighty shit show.
That said, social media is a cess pit too. So fuck knows.

Yes, because a rapist surely couldn't also have had consensual sex, as well as raping someone.

Dee9409 · 22/09/2023 23:41

Look he is innocent until a court of law finds him guilty. His face, his name is all over the internet. This is totally unfair, he hasn’t been convicted or found guilty. People accusing a man should also be named just as he is being named. He has NOT BEEN FOUND GUILTY

Anonymity for rape victims/alleged victims was granted by parliament in 1976 and extended to other sexual offences later on. They passed this law because of the level of embarrassment and likelihood of trauma when testifying. This helps to reduce the impact of rape victim shaming and rape victim blaming - which is, unfortunately, very common.

I'm curious by your 'totally unfair' comment. Did you watch the full Despatches programme? What did you think about the clips of Brand on stage, on radio and on TV? What did you observe and think about his behaviour?

anotherside · 23/09/2023 00:18

@Upcyclerookie

Why is he getting everyone to go on Rumble? I checked and his YouTube channel is still there

Because YouTube has demonetised him based on the accusations. Banning him outright isn’t a good look when the accusations are as yet unproven, but by demonetising him they can be seen as taking a stance of some sort or other … (as opposed to YouTube displaying the courage of their convictions one way or the other ie, booting him off the platform completely based on the accusations, or defending his right to - for the time being - profit from content creation on the platform like any other user).

Generally speaking, demonetising content gets the necessary people to shut up (be they “friendly” govenements, pressure groups etc) while still making themselves appear an “open” platform with a diversity of people/opinion.
