AIBU to think... 'here we go again?'

Anyone watching? I've always said 'innocent until proven guilty' but also 'there is no smoke without fire'.

Having been sexually assaulted myself, one of the stories seem so similar to mine.

What's your thoughts?

This is the most confusing post, I know. I just don't know how I feel.

I'm not saying I don't believe them, I just think the police should be dealing with it before someone's alleged crimes are announced on a TV show.

But then if we left it to the courts and he's found 'innocent' nobody would ever know, would they?

Pumpernickel27 · 17/09/2023 08:26

I believe the women who spoke about thier personal experiences in the documentary and I hope that speaking out has helped them.

I understand why they couldn't go to the police at the time, but then the documentary offered an opportunity to speak out against RB and they took it.
In an ideal world he would be in court instead but that's not how things go.

DoorStopper · 17/09/2023 08:27

So, is he going to be arrested and charged with anything or not?

Badbadbunny · 17/09/2023 08:27

Anyone thinking he was anything but a sex crazed, narcissistic, arrogant, spoilt, drug addled arsehole, must have been more simple than Simple Simons much simpler sister.

Depends if anyone goes to the police

God, it really seems to be yet another case of 'when someone tells you who they are, believe them '.

Absolutely

"I hope to God it doesn't happen anymore. I would break someone's nose if they did this to me now, yet back then you just had to get on with it." @Wassapp

It happens ALL THE TIME! Both my daughters have been sexually assaulted. One, in her school uniform aged 12 and then 14, twice, by completely different men on different days, also on a crowded bus by some shit head sitting next to her playing porn on his phone and feeling himself up staring at her, and multiple times in clubs and pubs. She's also had some wanker spike her drink and beat her up, broken nose and surgery needed to repair orbital bone.
The other has been on the receiving end of vile, sexual taunts from men in passing cars since she reached puberty. She's had pervs stumble into her changing room in Primark, she's been followed along the street by some fucking smack-head telling her to suck his cock, he wants to feel her tits etc. Multiple other pervy looks, comments, being rubbed up against etc.

In none of these situations did my two feel they were able to punch back, they were fucking terrified.

I'm not sure it hasn't got worse tbh.

must have been more simple than Simple Simons much simpler sister.

So are we to take this as your description of the women featured in the documentary?

Redlarge · 17/09/2023 08:33

Has anyone got a link to what Katherine ryan said please.

Highandlows · 17/09/2023 08:34

I tend to place the responsibility for rape on the rapists myself.

Sure but a mother role is to protect her daughter. How stupid to think this could be ok.

Hufflemuff · 17/09/2023 08:35

There are some really serious accusations. Especially from the girl who was 16 years old when her Mum knew all about the relationship and dropped her off at his house etc... what kind of piece of shit mum does that?!

FOJN · 17/09/2023 08:35

I thought the clip of his interview with Emily Maitlis was very telling, he was rattled and his mask slipped.

momymu · 17/09/2023 08:35

Haven't seen documentary, but one of the women in the papers (with the book 'Knickers' or something) really has no case: she interviewed him, he liked her, messaged her multiple times, they went out for dinner, then slept together few times and then he stopped calling her. Really can't see him acting 'creepy' in this scenario. Happened millions of times to countless other people, including myself.

Meltinthemiddle · 17/09/2023 08:36

How have they been allowed to run the program of he hasn't been charged? He was actually at my my local women's charity and visited the refuge. Pretty sick if it is true and having just watched his comedy show I am surprised they even invited him!

GreekDogRescue · 17/09/2023 08:36

Men like him took advantage of the laddette era and thought they could get away with it.

I saw him interviewing Caprice the bra designer, and he even took his trousers off and went to sit in her lap.

She was giggling and pretending to be a good sport but looked horrified too.
In any other era she would have run screaming from the studio.

It’s terrible that our misogynistic culture pretends that women have made great strides when things were in reality going backwards.

Women in Victorian times didn’t have the vote but no man in a respectable public place would have dared to carry on like this.

The nineties and noughties were a nightmare for women.

Crapsummer2023 · 16/09/2023 23:07

It’s interesting that he appeared to have an A list Hollywood career one minute, and next minute it was gone. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was an open secret and nobody wanted to work with him, hence the descent to a YouTube channel.

He spoke about this on one of his stand ups. He was turning up off his head and in that same sketch was talking about being sexual abusive to a woman but obviously didnt say that. I remember being disgusted. Ill try and find the clip.

Depends if anyone goes to the police

If they can tell their story on national TV, then surely they can tell it to the police.
What's the point of it otherwise.

EtiennePalmiere · 17/09/2023 08:40

What kind of piece of shit man rapes someone, more relevantly

Viviennemary · 17/09/2023 08:40

He is totally creepy and horrible. However, the media allowed him to make a virtue of this. I have never liked him.,

Nobodyheree · 17/09/2023 08:42

I can’t imagine having him loads of sex, he just doesn’t have the uhmmm I want to take my clothes off for him for me, I just can’t see women getting crazy about him, he looked nothing special without the beard and when was younger.
Then I must say he did look good in Forgetting Sarah Marshal.

But Dispatches will have left out way more than was actually in it, for legal purposes. The details in the programme will be just the tip of the iceberg. And there is absolutely no way C4's lawyers will have advised to show the programme unless they were absolutely certain there's mountains of evidence. I honestly dread to think how much stuff was omitted.

That’s actually not true, lots of it was after he was abstinent
