Finally watched the documentary. I’m shocked at a lot of the responses on here as I found the documentary really weak in terms of the “evidence” provided.
It’s been clear to just about anyone for years and years that he was a promiscuous man who clearly partook in drink and drug culture. He certainly wouldn’t be the kind of person I’d “trust” to have a lovey-dovey trustworthy and meaningful relationship with.
Most of the accounts don’t make sense when you think about them logistically. A lot of them outright contradict themselves as well. Ie one of them where she admitted she was jealous of him sleeping with other females yet when he made advances towards here she absolutely didn’t want to, despite having consensual and non problematic sex with him prior and continuing to work with him? Afraid to be in the house alone with him but it was fine every other time prior, but suddenly this time was different?
Bonus points if you word drop “grooming” into a sentence as well, despite every single one admitting they went into, straight off the deep end, willingly.
The 16 year olds family needs to be held to account for allowing such a relationship to occur. There’s not a hope I’d hell I’d let my daughter out of the house to hang out with Russell fucking Brand. And before anyone says that they maybe didn’t know- they’ve gone on record confirming they knew the relationship happened. Has it been confirmed that Russell knew she was 16? I would have assumed she would have said something to the affect of “he knew I was 16 and didn’t care”.
At the end of the day, this should have been a police investigation and not an hour and a half long show of actors talking about things that supposedly happened with little to no evidence behind them.
I wouldn’t be shocked if more of the evidence was refuted over the coming weeks. Russell is clearly a problematic person but there’s a difference between problematic and illegal behaviour.
A non biased investigation needs to happen where all the “evidence” is properly examined and the truth sought out, whatever that truth may be.
It should never have been made into a programme where the main focus was to make £ and to push engagement.
