To ask about hidden gratitude?

I've literally just had a pop up box about something to do with hidden gratitudes but it vanished before I'd had chance to read it in its entirety or take in what it was for. I can't see any threads about it but it looked like a new feature, has anyone else had this pop up?

Would make more sense if everyone could see for example '10 people have thanked this post'. No need to give user names.

If someone sends you 'thanks' do you see which users have thanked you? Or just a number?

I like it as a feature.

It's just a convoluted like button but without MN getting a reputation of having lots of controversial/unpopular opinions receiving likes as they can't be seen publicly.

When I click on it, it shows the names of the Users who sent me thanks!

But I didn't get a notification so if you hadn't had posted to say you'd liked it, I wouldn't have known to return to the thread and check iyswim.

Is this just on the web version not the app?

Guess all this messing about is the result of someone on work experience that has no experience (or common sense).
I don't want to have to keep scrolling up to find the quote button, although there are people that will quote an entire 50 paragraph OP in every reply so maybe it will stop that...

I like it. Sometimes you do want to give a bit of appreciation to someone for their comment without necessarily quoting it. I like that the "likes" (thanks in this case) aren't visible. Keeps all comments equal.

I like your post but haven't used the thank button because I want the quote button back where I can find it.

I think it is annoying and a waste of time.

I like that it’s hidden although I imagine the wannabe queen bees won’t. I think it’s a good decision by mumsnet to do if this way.

Yes having reply there instead of quote is just a really stupid decision. The quote feature is actually one of the most useful features so not having in under a post is very annoying!

"Give thanks" sounds weird to me. Shouldn't it just be thank?!

Also shouldn't there be a "you're welcome" feature so you can show the thanker you appreciate them?

Yy it feels a bit rude and unfinished. Someone thanks you but then what ... they don't even know if you've seen it. And if you have seen it, the only way you can acknowledge it is to post about it 😄Maybe that's the point - encourage even more engagement.

As per a previous poster apparently you just thank them for their thank you and this render the whole thing a never ending circle of thanks. Very British really. 🤣

They could put thanks where share is. Who ever shares anything from MN?

It's probably the most useless idea MN has come up with. It's completely pointless when you can just type thanks on the actual thread

It's a good idea. I've often wanted to 'like' a post, but the problem with public likes is that it can turn into a competition.

I'm on a laptop so share is still there. MN is too small on my phone.
