To ask about hidden gratitude?

I've literally just had a pop up box about something to do with hidden gratitudes but it vanished before I'd had chance to read it in its entirety or take in what it was for. I can't see any threads about it but it looked like a new feature, has anyone else had this pop up?

Under each post is a button that says thanks with a handshake lol.

Both posts above me have had some “hidden” gratitude

It looks like a way of people telling posters they agree with them but not making it public.

I give it 24hrs for the first AIBU poster, where everyone is telling her she's unreasonable, to claim that she's had "lots of gratitude so nyah nyah nyah"

I think it’s that little ‘Thanks’ waving hand icon at the end of your post, I just tried it there- you should see that I ‘thanked’ you but nobody else will. I suppose it’s an alternative to the often requested upvote/downvote feature

I’ve just had the same pop-up.

Underneath your post the options are Save, Thanks, Reply and Report.

I’ve clicked on Thanks.

Seems like a like button but where onlh the poster can see you have liked it. Not sure the point!

I’ve tried pressing on a few on this thread. Not sure if it’s done anything.

Yes it seems random to have it as where only the poster can see it and surely quote or edit would be more useful on the bar under each post rather than having to click on the three dots to use those features.

Didn't even get a notification. Just numbers appearing next to the hands

How do you know if someone has thanked you?

The icon looks like a high five. Not sure why it needs to be hidden. Public likes would spare us all the posts saying “this” or “I agree” or worse, big long quotes and a post saying “what she said”

I have a little number next to the hand telling me how many people have thanked (liked) my posts. It seems a little pointless.

I think it's a bad idea. It risks turning the place into FB, where ime many if not most people just "like" or otherwise emoji a post, rather than be arsed typing a response to it.

It is a pita on the mobile site because the cross to shut the pop up doesn't show and thus you can't get any further. I have had to open up my laptop to reply as impossible to use mumsnet now on my mobile phone and I refuse to use the crapola app. So there we are. An upgrade that shuts out a bunch of users, thumbs up #sarcasm
