Just for fun.

Mine is the woman who posted for advice about what to do about her husband who was talking to their cat really sensually. Not baby talk but like sensuous loving ”ooh your fur is so good my darling pussycat” and it gave her the absolute ick.

Every time I talk to my dog I remember her and chuckle. I wonder how she’s doing 😂

*Are we allowed to talk about posters we recall? Ones that I fondly remember are:

Crumbs, who allegedly lived in the nicest village where everyone gathered for "soup and sups" after carol singing. Sounded like the idyllic place to live.

Helena Dove: she managed to turn any thread into a debate about social housing and her husband's disability scooter, and would post reams of legislation re SH.

Queen someone or other: was very wealthy and seemed to really live the high life. Once posted a photo of her bedroom, but a poster did a reverse search on said photo and it was a hotel in France.*

I thought Crumbs was the one who passed off the French hotel as her house? Or possibly Crumbs under a namechange?

I remember Crumbs and her perfect exceptional life and family. Her daughter was simultaneously a ballerina and also something very impressive like a medical student or something (can't remember). Or it may have been her son the professional rugby player who was in medical school.

I do remember her claiming during Covid that she was part of Boris Johnson's Covid cabinet and directly involved in deciding the country's Covid strategy, then a couple of years later claimed that she'd used lockdown to write a series of bestselling books which had been snapped up by a top publisher who she was actually off to have lunch with that same day.

And her perfect idyllic village full of immaculately behaved teenagers who hold their secondary black tie school leavers' balls on yachts in the Med, where everyone owns an Aga and a ski chalet and they all eat Christmas dinner together as a village.

Her mother also went from being dead to not dead and back multiple times.

Ah, Crumbs. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

In Boris' cabinet, wrote some novels, OMG, could Crumbs be...er, did she ever mention being in the jungle and eating an ostrich's bum?

There’s 2 I think of a lot.

first is the one where the postman empties his bladder against someone’s post box every morning and told the OP to fuck off or something similar. There was even a map drawn. Every time I see my postman I think of it. I hope he’s stopped doing that now…

Second is the OP who’s husband had a wank in the kitchen… 😂

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 05/09/2023 12:35

I've remembered another - a MNer's husband had a running joke where he'd whip off his top and run into the room to surprise her. One day she decided to play the joke on him, so she got topless and ran into the front room only to find her husband in there with a neighbour who had come round to discuss some work that he was going to do on their house!!

CherryMaDeara · 05/09/2023 12:45

Yes I remember being to newish to MN and being bewildered by Crumbs post about her bedroom, and I reverse searched the image too 😂

I though that she would post she was joking but she was serious.

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 05/09/2023 13:08

I cried with laughter when one MNer wrote very dryly “I very much doubt he is writing to a cat called Bethany to tell her she’s beautiful.”

"Yes, Bethany has a flawless complexion, but she really does need to do something about her whiskers!"

You've just reminded me of another one (er...thanks?!) where a postman would stop at one house every day and then lie underneath a glass-topped table whilst the lady of the house curled one out into a Pyrex bowl that was on the table.

Utterly disgusting to most of us non-perverts, but to the postman, I think he saw it as a classic first-class delivery.

Itham · 05/09/2023 13:29

@FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper I have a great postie, you've killed the thread for me!

Westfacing · 05/09/2023 13:30

A very poignant one I remember from some years' back:

A poster who had a young son with cerebral palsy, aged around 10 I think, came off the phone after having a long rant at the pharmacy who had messed-up the boy's prescription and it was causing problems - she was probably at the end of her tether; there was no mention of a dad on the scene.

The little fella after over-hearing the conversation said 'Mum I'm sorry I'm disabled' Sad

I hope mum and son are doing OK.

PietariKontio · 05/09/2023 13:34

A bit of a long-term lurker here and remember the Savernake Forest one really clearly. At the time, and now, it never really mattered to me if it was or wasn't true, it was so well told that, even for a fairly 'horror-tolerant' person like myself it gave me the chills for sure.
It might be that Savernake Forest holds some nerves for me - back many years ago I was helping to support a group of kids with learning disabilities at Savernake - we spent ages exploring the forest and had a picnic, and every one of the kids had a great time.
The next day, however, was the day of the Hungerford shooting, and I remember reading that the shooter had been in Savernake the day before, when we were there, with his gun, and on the prowl.

samuelclemens · 05/09/2023 13:36

I didn’t remember Crumbs so had a look through some of their old posts… hahaha the ones about their village are hilarious, it sounds like something from a Disney film.

TheFormidableMrsC · 05/09/2023 14:05

@PollyThePixie

From what I remember the person became friendly with other posters and it was during a meet up that one of the other posters realised she knew the family the troll was pretending to be hers. TheFormidableMrsC was one of the posters who met her and I think she’s the only one of that group who may still be here. Some poster, myself included, were beginning to doubt the story by about thread 3 but relationships behind the scenes made it difficult to say much

Ah I'd forgotten about her. I remember her RL name though. We all became friends from similar hideous divorce situations. We started a private FB group. I didn't actually meet her but others did and she was forced to own up. It was awful. She was removed and blocked. I think MN took down her threads. There is a core group of us left who have remained close and are like sisters to me. Some have met in person. Not all. I think everybody is still here under name changes. I kept mine because I like it. We're all doing ok! Can't speak for the lying imposter though!

AlyssaHasAChaaaaild · 05/09/2023 14:14

Has anyone mentioned the poster who put garlic up her bum to ease constipation I think, then posted from work after she did the most awful smelling poo. I think about that thread every time I cook with garlic.

At the other end of the scale I remember when a popular MNer died and someone commented that she hadn't even had time to wrap her Christmas presents. It was such a small detail but it stayed with me and I think of her each year when I start my Christmas shopping and squirrel away gifts that I will wrap in December.

Oh, my stars. My sides are hurting! 😂😂😂

Beeinalily · 05/09/2023 14:21

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned it, but the "Ginny" thread.

REP22 · 05/09/2023 14:41

Beeinalily · 05/09/2023 14:21

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned it, but the "Ginny" thread.

I mentioned that one. I would love to know what happened when the OP came back from her holiday. I hope she is OK, and that Ginny is no longer causing mayhem and misery and havoc with the tampons.

Beeinalily · 05/09/2023 14:56

@REP22 Indeed. I think my jaw was dropping further and further reading about "her" antics!

REP22 · 05/09/2023 15:11

@Beeinalily mine too, for sure. And the boss's inexplicable indulgence of the nonsense (especially the locking everyone out of the office)! But I really felt for the OP - you could sense her exasperation and despair.

Sadly I suspect that Ginny is still gyrating around to Shakira and "commiserating" with "her" colleagues about periods to a now-largely-empty office. I really hope the OP (@idontknowwhattosay23) got out of that situation and is in a happier, less-bonkers, place now.

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 05/09/2023 17:08

How on earth would stuffing something else random up your blocked bum help to loosen it? Unless it was something purpose-designed like a pipe cleaner?

Theredfoxfliesatmidnight · 05/09/2023 17:19

The poster that repainted her entire house every weekend

RubiRage · 05/09/2023 17:34

cushioncovers · 02/09/2023 14:45

Tiny wanker instead of whiney tinker. Said by a mum to her toddler in a doctors surgery waiting room

I laughed & pig snorted so much at this I could hardly get my breath.

I suspect most of them are made up. The puddle one was soooo boring, I just didn’t get why so many people were into it.

gladysp2 · 05/09/2023 18:00

Didn’t the haunted badge predict the pandemic by saying ‘the big messy is coming’ or something like that?? I think about it a lot…

BabyStopCryin · 05/09/2023 18:22

That could apply to so many things - from a global pandemic to a trip to the seaside…

KickingEAP · 05/09/2023 19:13

Was that the one we're someone suggested it was a fox with opposable thumbs? That thread creeps into my thoughts from time to time too!
