Just for fun.

Mine is the woman who posted for advice about what to do about her husband who was talking to their cat really sensually. Not baby talk but like sensuous loving ”ooh your fur is so good my darling pussycat” and it gave her the absolute ick.

Every time I talk to my dog I remember her and chuckle. I wonder how she’s doing 😂

I often think of GoJetterGirl and her family and hope they found some form of peace after the terribly sad loss of their little boy. I still cry whenever I think of her incredible dignity and selflessness and I hold my little boy that bit tighter at bedtimes because of her 💕

TimeForTeaAndG · 03/09/2023 22:41

There was a thread years ago, I think the OP was babynamechange, who's son was being abused by his dad and the social worker was basically doing nothing, believing the dad and fighting his corner in family court. The posts used to be on the 30 days only section and I always hope she managed to get her little boy safe.

The one where the lady lived in a flat with a garden but the neighbour, whose kitchen window overlooked the window, wanted a garden so knocked a hole in the wall to make use of the OP's garden also. Span gran flew over to assist. I think the works caused structural damage to the building.

Yes I remember this one too. I got really invested in this thread.

TrinityRhino - hope she is OK and living a lovely life now
UCM is that you?
BiscuitsAndBandages (think that was her user name) lovely Dr who was terminally ill.

Trinity is doing well

There's a few I remember, but I'm rubbish at remembering titles and names!
The one last year with some bratty children at a holiday park. The holiday park sounded so amazing but the op wouldn't name it. She would however PM it to people who asked. Loads of people were asking for name of the park in the end. It was a troll though so the amazing park didn't exist.

The lady last year who flew to be with her daughter in hospital. Her daughter sadly passed away, I think she was called Claire.

The one that always sticks in my mind. There was a poster whose husband kept fish, and the tank had a horrible blue bright light that needed to be on for hours a day. It meant her and her children couldn't sit in the living room because of the awful lighting, but they weren't allowed to turn it off or change the schedule. I have searched for the thread since but never found it again.

Penis beaker
I literally think about it every day when I put the kids plastic beakers away

Daffodilsandtuplips · 04/09/2023 07:21

Wasn’t Tricky TreatLou the poster who’s husband had an OW and got her pregnant at the same time as TTL was pregnant. He left or she kicked him out and he took his stash of Branston pickle with him. If so she used to post on the 30 day pages. Last I saw she and her little lad were doing well.

Rabbitnose · 04/09/2023 08:17

Does anyone remember the poster called Phyllis who had the most perfect first born in the history of PFBs? I recall her asking for advice on how to stop strangers doting on her child when she went out as it was so exhausting for her. She got upset with people saying it was normal for babies to get attention because HER baby got more than anyone else's, and it was because he was so very very special and if we saw him we'd understand. Turned out she was dragging him out and down the street on a little wooden horse ride on I think.
Please tell me I haven't just made that shit up in a fever dream and it was a real thread?

feralunderclass · 04/09/2023 08:39

@Rabbitnose please find that thread, I need to read it!

I have my own version of the DGoD with my husband.

It's more of a conceptual thing, cos he doesn't have the lurgy, necessarily, but he always has to have whatever ailment is giving me gyp, at the time.
My son and i had a sickness bug, which my husband didn't pick up.

But he told me (and I knew he was lying), that he had picked it up, but it gave him a dicky belly instead. Which is terribly convenient, and i saw no evidence of it.
No increased trips to the toilet, no stomach cramps, and he didn't want to take the Immodium that i offered, etc.

I fractured my leg recently and it's still giving me a few issues, and now - miraculously- his leg hurts and he needs painkillers.

I just roll my eyes and ignore him. I am a sympathy-free zone where his pretend illnesses are concerned.

beastlyslumber · 04/09/2023 09:12

Have been reading this thread and laughing hysterically! People don't get how funny MN can be. Women are awesome.

Mauhea · 04/09/2023 09:29

It's likely already been said (I'm slowly working my way through the thread!) but the lady who asked if she was being unreasonable for being 'traumatised by her undercarriage' and the posts that followed had my genuinely crying with laughter.
I was also heavily invested in the rainy puddles saga and was heartbroken when the threads were deleted.

The one where the OP ran a business with her DH. She suspected he was having an affair with a woman living nearby.
OP had two teenagers and her whole life revolved around her family. DH admitted having the affair and left the home. She was so devastated.
There must have been 5 or 6 threads, with an amazing amount of support from posters.
Turned out she was a troll, but we found out, through MNHQ I think, that her very detailed description of her home and family were based on an actual family she knew of, and the fake story caused a great deal of distress to them.

From what I remember the person became friendly with other posters and it was during a meet up that one of the other posters realised she knew the family the troll was pretending to be hers. TheFormidableMrsC was one of the posters who met her and I think she’s the only one of that group who may still be here. Some poster, myself included, were beginning to doubt the story by about thread 3 but relationships behind the scenes made it difficult to say much.

I still have memories of the sexual aid the poster announced on one of the threads. Amongst other things they were most definitely a pervert getting off on introducing such a thing to the thread.

Claires mum and dad are doing as well as can be expected under the circumstances and have been back to Scotland a few times since her funeral to visit her resting place.

Yes. Bluntness also.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 04/09/2023 10:00

Has anyone said Rose Petel and her hamwidges?

TattedBarley · 04/09/2023 10:07

I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned it, but a thread about it popped up on here the other day and I’ve not been able to get it out of my head since.

50 Shades of Tumble…shudder

Please tell me someone remembers this - I can’t look at Justin the same anymore. If he wasn’t anything more than slightly odd before, he now gives me the biggest sense of ick ever. Thanks MN!

Sockqueen posted this yesterday evening

But the one I can never unsee, that has forever changed how I view this person, was the Justin Fletcher erotic fiction.

SiliconHeaven · 04/09/2023 10:56

Probably not what most will remember but I have never forgotten a thread where we were discussing DLA (disability living allowance) a quite-famous poster fabbychic said she had a life-time award of DLA that she was entitled to keep even though she was now cured of the condition causing it.

Cue lots people telling her how wrong she was and how she was supposed to let them know.
She changed her name and scarpered. People often wonder what happened to Fabbychic…

The disappearing ironing board!

Savernake Forest, for obvious reaons. Brilliantly told, no matter whether 100% true or not. Just an excellent piece of storytelling.

Waspie · 04/09/2023 12:49

The penguin on a bus (spoiler alert: not a penguin!) was great @martinisforeveryone Grin

Another one involving buses was "she's a cunt for the butter" - I think it was an overheard conversation between two elderly Irish women talking about Ireland's Delia Smith (Davina something is it?) DP and I use that a lot in conversation.

Another in common parlance chez Wasp is "spoony fucker". The thread was linked to earlier. And Fat Suzi Quattro of course, that's wonderful Grin

I remember Chutney man and I hope Lou and her son are doing well.

FastnetLundyRockall · 04/09/2023 12:58

One called something like "Aibu to rage and scream at the unfairness of it all" where OP had some sort of degenerative illness and lived in Switzerland. Her best friend from USA moved in to help, BF ended up in a relationship with OPs husband with OPs agreement , OP and husband got divorced and BF and husband got married, gradually spending less and less time looking after OP who was stuck in a flat on her own a lot of the time getting sicker. I always wondered how this turned out

TheFutureMrsWolowitz · 04/09/2023 13:04

Oh yes 'spoony fucker'!

I was on that thread under another name. It's now parlance in our house as DH is spoony fucker extraordinaire. And it drives me utterly bananas.
