Would this mum also annoy you

Sometimes I think I'm just a mean / evil person.

This is rather lighthearted btw.

There's this mum at school, who used to go to the school she's now sending her DC to and she just won't stop going on about it..

we had a teacher meet up and I heard her telling the same stories about how she used to go to the school to three different sets of people. She has also managed to reference it a few times in the watsap group..

I find this really irritating and find her annoying.

Am I just an evil person ?

Yep you are. I sent my DS to the same primary school I went to and I was proud that he went to the same local school I went to.
It obviously means something to this mum for her to mention it and I don't understand what is irritating about that?

Why would it bother you? Woman just excited about her past/present, doesn’t impact on your life at all. What a stupid thing to be thinking about.

You're not evil lol. Maybe you're jealous of something about her without realising it? Is she really pretty or have a great job? Maybe she's happy and it irritates you because you're not? Seems a trivial thing to be annoyed about.

I don't know anything about her at all. That's all I know. She's not pretty tbh. So it's not that.

Perhaps I wished my DC could go to my old school, but it's not possible because of distance.

Or she's just mentioned it so much that it's just a bit overdone and unnecessary.

My evil confession is that I find people who haven't left the area they grew up in a bit odd so I wouldn't hear this as a boast!

No it's obviously not REALLY a problem. Just something I noticed and I find it kind of funny that it annoys me. Which is why I'm questioning whether I'm evil and whether others ever get strangely irritated by stuff like this or if it's just me.

If it's a new school and she's "telling 3 sets of people" and you've managed to focus on her doing that every time? She might be a little bit earnest but you're right in your initial post, it's weird for you to be so annoyed about it.

My kids went to a village school after a large gap in our family attending, and different surnames (our family had been at the school for over 100 years until me, I then moved back and my kids went there) so yeah I mentioned it in a way that was probably really annoying to you?

Everyone finds some people annoying. If you liked her you wouldn’t care she was repeating stories when making small talk.

Just accept you find her tedious and don’t worry about it.

I've never even spoken to her. I just overhead her at an event. I don't dislike her

It probably came up in conversation though - 'are you local?' is a fairly standard question to ask at that kind of thing so it may just have come up.

However, if you are genuinely sad that you can't send your son to your old school, then maybe it jars more for you than it would for most.
