How much do you roughly drink per day?

I think I'm about to discover I seriously don't drink anywhere near enough....

I roughly drink a day:
3 teas
500ml other juice/soda/rarely water 😳😳

I'm only asking as I'm wondering if I am dehydrated a lot of the time.. I just don't feel like I need to drink much 😬

Nowhere near enough

maybe a couple of coffees, a glass of squash and an AF beer at night

sometimes a bit more liquid

Elsiebear90 · 22/08/2023 10:31

A cup of coffee in the morning, 2 x 500ml bottles of water at work and then one or two large glasses of squash at night. So around 2l?

Lovesacake · 22/08/2023 10:32

Probably 3 or 4 litres of water most days, occasionally a Diet Coke. Don’t drink hot drinks or alcohol. Keeping well hydrated is about the only healthy thing I do and that’s just because I love water!

StopThatBloodyNoise · 22/08/2023 10:32

1/2 pt of water first thing
2 decaff coffees
another 1/2pt of water
probably 2 more decaff coffees
a pint of water at teatime
1/2 a pt of water before bed.

I probably drink too much.

LBFseBrom · 22/08/2023 10:34

Several glasses of water, one cup of tea or coffee in the morning, one small glass of fruit juice, a glass of lemon and barley, sometimes I will have a cup of warm milk.

thaegumathteth · 22/08/2023 11:24

I am very rarely thirsty but after kidney infections I am forcing myself to drink more.

I probably drink about 1.5L of water with a dash of cranberry juice a day.

roarrfeckingroar · 22/08/2023 11:25

A cup of tea or iced coffee; occasionally two.

About 10 pints of water throughout the day.

I've quit alcohol, at least for a bit, otherwise a glass or two of wine.

rhino12345 · 22/08/2023 11:51

I drink about 3.5 litres of tea at the moment 😂 always got a squash on the go, so usually two or three 500ml glasses of squash.

Summerrainagain1 · 22/08/2023 11:52

3 cups of coffee, and between 1.5 and 2.5l of water and then a peppermint tea. I am trying to increase the water.

Wannabegreenfingers · 22/08/2023 12:06

2 -3 cups of decaf tea throughout the day and 2 liters of water. Occasional wine and can of coke. I can't abide squash or anything with artificial sweetener.

TheAOEAztec · 22/08/2023 12:06

My organs shrivelled from just reading about ho little some people drink 😱

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 22/08/2023 12:09

I rarely feel thirsty which is a big problem for me.
If left to my own devices, I would have a coffee in the morning, maybe a midday tea and a pint of water with tea. That's about it.

Oddly though my wee is a normal colour!

mumsworkneverstops · 22/08/2023 12:11

Loads. I once measured and I drank 6 pints of water and 3 cups of tea!!

Coronationstation · 22/08/2023 12:15

typically 2 coffees, 2 teas (usually less hot drinks at weekend if i'm out and about) and 2-3 litres of water. I've just refilled a 750ml bottle of water for the 3rd time today. I ate out last night though and I think that made me thirstier than normal.

Catsmere · 22/08/2023 12:20

@AskmeAnythingKidney thank you for that reminder, it's timely!

TheCatterall · 22/08/2023 12:28

I drink 1.5-1.8 litres a day. Rarely hit 2ltr.

that’s a mix of 1 or 2 small coffees.

about 3 cups of tea (Yorkshire of course or the odd lady grey).

a few herbal - cinnamon or mint.

water with some lime/lemon or cucumber in. In a fancy glass so it’s seems more interesting. ;)

at weekend I might have some wine or gin (only 1 or 2 as I’m a light weight) I don’t count alcohol towards the total and actually drink more water after drinking and before bed.

Jamtartforme · 22/08/2023 12:28

10 pints! I know I don’t drink enough but don’t you worry about drowning your organs?

CoteDOpale · 22/08/2023 12:30

At work, with the lovely filtered water on tap, I usually drink 2.4l a day.

At home, the water is so awful I’ve been known to throw it back up, so that’s probably sent a message to my brain saying ‘don’t drink that’ even if I want to! So I drink nowhere near enough as a result. Looking at getting a built in softener/filter that actually works.

I do feel a real difference when I’m properly hydrated. You might not even realise what your body is missing until you try it!

Poblano · 22/08/2023 12:35

2-3 cups of coffee, 1.5-2 litres of water. More water if I exercise.

Whatsthepoint1234 · 22/08/2023 12:41

I drink 1.5 litres a day (I have Crohns and IBS so it was recommended to restrict my fluid for symptom management). Usually I have:
3x glass of water (750ml)
1x cup of tea (400ml - I have proper mugs)
can of coke at work (350ml)
A rare glass of wine (once or twice a month)

On the other hand ds13 and dh (both tall man sized) probably drink 2.5/3l a day - ds7 drinks similar to me. I’m a short woman! Id recommend adding another drink a day - mild dehydration can be hard to spot and you might feel less tired and find you think better if you drink slightly more!

Frabbits · 22/08/2023 12:41

The human body is really good at telling you to drink, just as it tells you to pee, or to take your hand out of that fire etc.

The idea that people are going around dehydrated without knowing it is a complete myth. If you are thirsty, have a drink. It's that easy.

SamW98 · 22/08/2023 12:44

1 latte
A 1 litre bottle of water at work
At least 2 pints of orange squash (with sparkling water) in the evening

A couple of nights a week I have a wine and soda as well.

As I’m getting older I find I get UTI’s if I do g drink enough fluid so I make sure I’m hydrated

hungryhippo25 · 22/08/2023 12:46

2 coffee, one tea, usually one can of something fizzy and random slurps of water when I remember. Oh and sometimes a large g&t or a glass of wine.

I really need to get into the habit of having a big drink first thing in the morning.

faban · 22/08/2023 12:47

A coffee
Multiple cups of decaf tea
A can of either Diet Coke or spite zero
Min 4L of water

I am peeing a lot

That’s nonsense, sorry. There are people on this thread literally telling you that they never get thirsty and subsist on the odd coffee and, as a result, feel extremely unwell. One poster even spoke at length about her kidney issues.

So, no, a lot of people’s bodies either aren’t very good at telling them to drink or they aren’t very good at listening. And, as a rule of thumb, if you’re thirsty, you’re already mildly dehydrated.
