How much do you roughly drink per day?

I think I'm about to discover I seriously don't drink anywhere near enough....

I roughly drink a day:
3 teas
500ml other juice/soda/rarely water 😳😳

I'm only asking as I'm wondering if I am dehydrated a lot of the time.. I just don't feel like I need to drink much 😬

I drink two mugs of tea and 2-2.5L of water. We have big glasses that hold about 500ml I have most of one with breakfast (whatever is left of my overnight glass) then four spread throughout the day, two before lunch and two after lunch usually. I rarely get headaches and when I stop I really notice!

bryceQ · 22/08/2023 06:43

2-3 cups of tea
1 coffee
8-9 glasses of water
Maybe a trip can in evening

TheAOEAztec · 22/08/2023 06:46

2-3 coffees and 2-3 l of water.
1 liter is usually within first hour of the day

Simonjt · 22/08/2023 06:47

I do the one litre per 25kg rule, so I drink 4 litres a day, with heavier drinking before about 4pm.

@RuffledKestrel

I'm finding I'm getting headaches quite a bit recently too.. I thought it was stress but maybe this is also dehydration

Didn't you get
"mum i have a headache"
"drink a pint of water if it hurts in half an hour come back"
As a child? 😁

Sheepsheepie · 22/08/2023 06:51

I’m constantly thirsty and have been since I was a kid. I have been screened for diabetes due to it.

Normal day I would drink 500ml of a fizzy drink and 1-3 litres of water / flavoured water. All depends what I’m doing. If I exercise I can drink an additional 500ml to 1 L of water, positive is then I don’t normally feel hungry after exercise like most people 🤣

FabFitFifties · 22/08/2023 06:56

I'll start by saying I despise taste of tea and don't like coffee. Hot water is drink of choice. Breakfast - 500mls hot water, 700mls cold water bottle if in office, teatime 500 mls hot water, evening 500 mls of hot water. I drink hot water from a pint glass. Volumes upped considerably in my 20's in a bid to avoid cystitis - it worked. I only have to have one day of less drinks, and by evening I have cystitis. Very annoying. I have a dread of being old in hospital/care and having constant cystitis. I too had germ related (not diagnosed but bery bad) OCD. For health reasons I forced myself to sit on public toilets. I'm a nurse and health implications of avoiding/hovering, are bad. Nothing bad has happened as a result.

Lostmyway86 · 22/08/2023 07:00

Tea first thing in the morning, coffee mid-afternoon, water consistently through the day. Glass of wine or two in the evening.

Willmafrockfit · 22/08/2023 07:02

two teas morning at home
one coffee morning at home
two coffee morning at work
two tea afternoon at work
one coffee aternoon at work
one coffee once home
couple green teas

AskmeAnythingKidney · 22/08/2023 07:04

As someone who has a kidney transplant I IMPLORE those not drinking much to seriously up their intake.

I was that person who drank not much through the day and was probably constantly dehydrated.

I had a short illness that unknowingly affected my kidneys but my renal team have said 30 plus years of not drinking much absolutely contributed to what was probably a slow decline in my kidney function

The worst thing is that kidney failure has barely any symptoms until you are near needing dialysis.

Now with my transplanted kidney I drink a minimum of 3 litres a day and if I don't, I see the change in my blood results.

OP, you don't need to obsess over it but please add a few more glasses of drink to your daily intake!

Badleg85 · 22/08/2023 07:11

Not enough

3 teas and two glasses of water, so maybe a litre throughout the day. I never feel thirsty, my digestive system hates me though and I am trying to drink more.

I always think I'm hungry, one day in an old job a young woman (talking 17yrs old) stopped me when I was saying I was starving at 10.00 and she was like "no your thirsty, you just don't know the sign from your body" and when I thought about it it did make sense, I'd had breakfast and 1 cup of tea T 6.30 and didn't usually have anything until my next tes and snack at 10.30. I try to remember her saying that and try not to instantly reach for food and have a drink first

@Laserbeam24

This sounds much more like me!

(Water makes me feel sick too 😂😂)

No idea really but when I make tea I have got in to the habit of filling the cup with tap water while waiting for kettle to boil and then drinking that and then adding tea bag to make the tea, to save a cup :)

I drink about 7 tea/coffee a day so also 7 cups of water. But I have no idea how much that is in litres, will find out.

bakewellbride · 22/08/2023 09:22

2 litres of water
5 cups of tea / coffee

NaselHazel · 22/08/2023 09:24

Cup of tea on waking up. DH leaves v early for work and drinks gallons of tea, so he always brings me one whether I want it or not. Two coffee during the morning interspersed with water, if I remember to drink it.

I’m usually thirsty by lunchtime and have a couple of glasses of water then. Water with all meals. Glass of wine maybe 3-4 evenings a week. Pint of water on my bedside table to drink overnight.

I eat just about everything, but I’m v fussy about drinks - I don’t like any sweet drinks, so I only drink water, fizzy water, tea, coffee and wine or beer. Never drink squash, fizzy pop or fruit juices, smoothies etc. and cocktails are yuck to me.

Glitterybee · 22/08/2023 09:25

2 cups of tea
1 coffee
4 Coke Zero (I know, I know)
500ml bottle of water

takealettermsjones · 22/08/2023 09:26

I used to drink far too much coffee, so I made a rule for myself that I always have to drink a glass of water in between any other drinks. The size of glass depends on how thirsty I am, so if I actually want the water I'll have a pint, but if I'm just forcing myself so I can have the coffee, I'll have a small 200ml glass 🤣

So I'd say I'm having between 800ml and 2.2l of water every day, plus about 800ml of coffee and maybe a wine or a G&T in the evening.

My water rule also applies to nights out, so I haven't had a hangover in years.

FrogsWormsandCaterpillars · 22/08/2023 09:27

10-12 cups of tea a day (All normal, no decaf)
3-4 cans of Coke Zero
Usually a smoothie or cold coffee daily.

Reading that looks awful but I can’t stand juice or water.

takealettermsjones · 22/08/2023 09:28

CrazyFrogDingDing · 22/08/2023 05:51

I drink 15+ coffees per day, 3 of those are just for breakfast.
A large glass of pomegranate juice with evening meal.

15! Your poor bowels! 🤣

Woahtherehoney · 22/08/2023 09:29

Two/three mugs of coffee, a can of Diet Coke and 3/4 litres of water a day, sometimes more in the summer.

I’ve always been a big drinker - my mum used to have to take 4 or 5 bottles of water and juice out with her when I was a toddler as I’d finish one and just want the next. (nothing wrong with me, kidneys are fine, just a very thirsty person haha)

Jamtartforme · 22/08/2023 09:30

2 or 3 mugs of decaf with oat milk
2 pints of squash
A can of appletiser, carbonated elderflower or similar

Not enough really, especially as I’m breastfeeding. My skin is looking a bit dehydrated at the moment, I know I need to throw a couple of pints of water in there but it’s just remember and finding the time 😐

Bbq1 · 22/08/2023 09:32

Water is my favourite drink. I drink 3 litres a day, sometimes more. I have around 6-7 milky teas. Occasional fizzy drink. I don't drink alcohol, teetotal.

ScarlettBeauregarde · 22/08/2023 09:36

Another water bottle obsessive here.

I Keep a 500ml bottle by my bed and down it as soon as I wake up. I then drink 1L in the morning and another in the afternoon, then I have a 1L bottle of water mixed with a shot of liquid collagen and a dash of squash that I drink in the evening.

So lots of water! I don’t drink anything else though which makes it easier. My bottles are all steel and I add ice to keep it super cold which makes it all go down easier.

polkadotpixie · 22/08/2023 09:54

I barely drink, I rarely get thirsty and if I do a couple of sips is sufficient. I probably drink:

1 x 500ml bottle of water
1 x hot chocolate

I really must try harder, my urine is often very dark yellow and I only wee about 3 times a day

CrazyFrogDingDing · 22/08/2023 10:23
