We need to be somewhere by 11.it’s an hours drive. I wanted to set off at 9am as that will give us time to get parked, get something to eat etc … DH thought that was too early so we compromised on 9:30. He’s dat doing nothing until 8:20 at which point I reminded him he needs to start getting ready. 9:30 arrives and at this point he decides he needs a poo and a shave. Why????

@FadeAwayAndRadiate of course you can control when you shit...it's called potty training. (illness and disability aside obvs) Healthy people over the age of about 4 and certainly adults can work out when they are likely to need one, or even go a little earlier than they "need" to so they are ready to leave. If you regularly shit at 10am and that's when you need to leave, you go at 9.45 and put a little effort in.
I did read somewhere (probably on here) that men like to let it just gradually happen rather than it being an active push, hence the 40 mins Vs 5. (plus also avoiding kids dinnertime/ bedtime / morning routine or whatever).

My DH isn't like that. In fact if we agree that we're leaving at 9.30 he's more likely to have the car packed up and be standing in the car at 9.20 with his shoes on annoying the rest of us who are still getting ready! I will add that we are always all ready at the pre agreed time.

Same!

40 minutes?! Shock WHY??? Most time DH has ever spent in the loo (having a 💩 ) is 5-7 minutes. Tops. Usually 3-4 minutes.

Lucky you. My DH is 30 minutes minimum, has been known to be an hour and half. The longer sessions were usually timed when it was bedtime and the dc weren't behaving, or when I had a hospital appointment. But just like you having a go at other pp, the answer was "can't I even have a shit in peace..."
