Do I need to calm down? Man peeing in the car park

BogStandardBogWee · 14/08/2023 20:09

So a bit of a weird one - meant in a lighthearted tone but also.. am I being a bit irrational

today I came out of the gym and when I got to the car park there was a man who had also been in the gym peeing in a bush in front of my car. As I came up to my car I could see that it was kind of running back towards my car 🤢 the conversation went:

me: uh, excuse me!? that’s disgusting

him: oh sorry! You caught me out haha

me: seriously though you couldn’t have used the gym toilet before you left?

it then escalated with him being arsey in an “alright luv calm down” sort of way, which became very patronising and included a lot of swearing

Because he was pissing me off I told him I’d decided to report him to the gym for his language/behaviour. I said it mainly just to annoy him more tbh

I haven’t done this. I probably won’t. I wouldn’t usually have the gumption to get into an argument.

I should let it go right? I don’t know why but I am still annoyed about it 😂

We live rurally and drive home via a quiet back lane with a few farms down. It's a regular occurrence these days to see male cyclists, amazon/delivery drivers all taking a piss on the side of the road. It's absolutely revolting, and I always toot my horn to let them know it! There's a garage at the end of the road with a public toilet ffs.

DH said it happens all the time on the golf course too Hmm

Premfove · 14/08/2023 20:28

YANBU

it's illegal in Australia. My housemate was caught by the police when we were on a night out and they insisted I had to take him home immediately. He had to go to court and got a spent conviction. We were agog at the time and thought it was outrageously over zealous (we were young, drunk and foolish) but really it's a great system that we should employ here.

MeridianB · 14/08/2023 20:29

Please do report him to the gym. Because there’s just no excuse for this. Middle of the day, public place and having walked away from loos. Plus his reaction. It’s weird as well as gross.

Hopefully they can find him on cctv and speak to him.

Generally I think men are way, way too casual about peeing in public when they can’t be bothered to find a loo.

Aquamarine1029 · 14/08/2023 20:32

I really, really hope you report this disgusting man.

EAP · 14/08/2023 20:37

It's grim but it sounds like you've got far too much time on your hands.

papasmurfdontpreach · 14/08/2023 20:38

That is so gross. If it's a Pure gym they have a dedicated email (safespace) for incidences and I'd send them the details, I assume most gyms will be interested to know what a member is doing. No pun intended! I'd definitely feel unsafe walking to my car and being confronted with some tool literally marking his territory, it's totally out of order. Shouldn't shit like this be counted as indecent exposure or something? Wtf is wrong with some people. Also if it's in a car park they might have it on cctv so they can give him a warning or whatever. Definitely not being irrational or hormonal OP!

Tilllly · 14/08/2023 20:38

You can get fined for a public order offence, for taking a wee in public

And potentially indecent exposure

Report it. He could have used the gym toilet, or waited until he got home, but he chose to do it in public right by someone’s car where women have to watch him piss and it stinks up the car park. He’s a nasty exhibitionist who probably had a wank about it all when he got home.

It is revolting. I used to live near Highbury and Islington Station and on home match days there would be a continual stream of urine going across the pavement from the pigs lining up against the wall next to the station. And of course being football there was a considerable police presence, but nothing was ever said .

It's a public order fine
ie local authority, not police

Amethys · 14/08/2023 20:40

Didn’t piss on his own car did he. Picked yours.

turkeytwizzlerss · 14/08/2023 20:42

TheFlis12345 · 14/08/2023 20:13

I would report him. It’s one thing to pee if you get caught short in the woods on a long walk or something but right outside the gym? There is absolutely no need for that, I don’t believe he went from not needing to go to desperate enough to wee in a car park in a couple of minutes. It sounds like he wanted to get caught.

Yeah fuck it.

Just say he flashed at you,

Changedforthetoday · 14/08/2023 20:42

Tell the gym. I had this one evening 6pm with a guy pissing on the wall of a bar jn broad daylight in a Main Street as he was drunk and could t be bothered to do in the bar as he was smoking his fag.
As he was pissing up the wall a group of about 3-4 girls aged between 13 -15 approx were walking towards him.
I told him off and said it was disgusting and particularly lazy and that exposing him to these young girls was awful.
He argued with me (drunkenly) and said he was with family and had been to a funeral and that I needed to show some respect.
I marched into the bar (that was packed with many people dressed in funeral attire) and loudly shouted that there was a disgusting man outside pissing on the wall of the bar, in front of young girls and that someone in the bar needed to have a word with him and take him in line (preferably home) to stop this disgusting behaviour and his lack of respect for their recently departed family member/friend.
A group of older women marched out and started having a go at him. My job was done!

BiscuitsandPuffin · 14/08/2023 20:14

I think you were unreasonable to keep going on at him after your first comment. He clearly got the point and tried to style it out. He probably would have taken on board not to do it again if you'd left it at that, but as it is, you've come across as argumentative so he'll probably just dismiss the whole thing as "some angry woman" and do it again somewhere else another day.

Ah, the 'nag' defence. Hmm

TheFlis12345 · 14/08/2023 20:48

Not saying what Cillian did was ok but having a pee down a dark alley after a few beers is very different to doing it in a car park, stone cold sober in broad daylight.

HelloSquire · 14/08/2023 20:49

chipsincheese · 14/08/2023 20:44

Its gross but lots of men do it even Cillian Murphy was photographed taking a public whizz earlier this year

https://www.express.co.uk/celebrity-news/1764212/Peaky-Blinders-Cillian-Murphy-caught-short

Why is that of any relevance? What a stupid thing to say, it's disgusting
Report him, he had the option of using the loo and didn't

panko · 14/08/2023 20:49

JennyForeigner · 14/08/2023 20:20

Right?

I really do not get the 'Oh well, he won't change and you probably came across a bit unfeminine for trying actually' thing.

At least try! And if the world doesn't become a better place immediately, keep trying. Nothing will change while we're all so conflict averse we can't even bear not to tell a twat not to piss on our tyres.

Yes! Though tbh if OP was intimidated by a man lurking in the bush and did say anything I wouldn't blame her. But who cares if he thinks she's "some angry woman"? It's not her role in life to make him think otherwise.

TiredArse · 14/08/2023 20:50

There is no fucking excuse given it was next to an open gym and he’s a member. It’s not like he was half way up a mountain.

I bollocked someone recently for doing the same right by an open pub.

FiveOClockWorld · 14/08/2023 20:50

Euwww! I wouldn't bat an eyelid if I was somewhere far away from loos, but in a gym carpark?? Euwwwww.

CasperGutman · 14/08/2023 20:58

That's gross. I'm a man, and perfectly happy to pee discreetly in a hedge on a walk in the wilderness, but I certainly wouldn't whip my tackle out in an urban car park when there was a loo in the gym just nearby. Disgusting.

BTW @Ostryga I think it would be better here to say "Some men are vile" rather than just "Men are vile". I'm conscious I risk sounding like one of those arseholes who respond "not all men..." to posts about sexual harassment, but part of the issue with them is that it minimises the experiences being described and typically nobody has claimed all men (or at least, the male sex in general) are involved.

PixiePirate · 14/08/2023 21:03

This is gross. I never see us women squatting down in the street/car park/a bush. Why do men seem to get a special pass from so many people?
Taking it a step further, I particularly hate the temporary urinals that are erected in some town centres on weekend evenings If women can hold it, so should men.

I'm male but I agree with the last paragraph. I remember going to a football match once at an edge-of-town stadium, group of blokes in a car. It was a Friday night game, traffic was predictably awful and a two hour journey took three and a half. We arrived with minutes to spare.

The driver (therefore sober) had been complaining about his bladder for some time. We were directed by stewards to a field which was the overflow parking (no pun intended) and on pulling up he immediately jumped out of the car, unzipped and started creating a small lake. "Sorry lads I just can't wait".

Obviously another car soon pulled up alongside us and a respectable couple got out. He did have the decency to apologise, profusely, while still peeing. The man of the couple looked a bit cross but the woman grimaced and said "It's OK, I'm nearly doing that myself". Then she abruptly legged it away from us, towards a darker area where earlier-arriving cars had already been parked and vacated. Our pissing friend finished and we hurried towards the stadium so I didn't see exactly where she disappeared to, but her intentions were pretty clear.

So two people went for a wee in a car park, but the woman with a full bladder just contained herself for another 60 seconds so that she could be more discreet and polite, for want of a better word. It made me reflect on male behaviour generally.

No it is a criminal office under the public order act and is dealt with by the police and magistrates court.
