Hmm, interesting. If we think he might be a Freeman of the Land, maybe the plan all along was to give birth in international waters?

”In a further twist of logic, they think that ‘register’ means ‘hand over to’ and therefore believe that registering a birth means handing over one’s child to the government (which is exchanged for a ‘berth’ certificate— another nautical reference).”

So maybe he has created a situation where his child cannot obtain a birth certificate… Obviously one or other of them may be regretting this now.

There is a Facebook profile of a matching name who is a trainer and athlete, into Alkali water therapy something something bollocks, from Freetown, USA 🙄 but living in Manchester.

I have added him as a friend (from my fake account of course that I use for spying on people). If they're desperate for money they might accept the request in the hope I'm a fellow nutjob wanting some alkaline water therapy who will pay handsomely.

montecarlo7 · 13/08/2023 05:43

There is something very strange about this whole situation.

ithoughtitwasyouelectricblue · 13/08/2023 06:10

@viques 'wouldn't want him at the other end of a see saw' has absolutely tickled me. Unashamedly nicking that and can't wait for the opportunity to use it!

sashh · 13/08/2023 06:20

I love this quote, "We are essentially stateless - we are more than abandoned. We are prisoners in a country that we are not allowed to leave."

Except the left St Lucia and went to Grenada

itsgettingweird · 13/08/2023 06:46

Yea the "prisoners in a country".

Just adds really to the suspicion about freeman of the land because it's not the first time he's been surprised to find that rules that exist also actually apply to him!!!

It's more astounding someone thought they could fly out to another country, give birth alone, rock up to a hospital a few days later and the baby would be registered and then they'd fly home again.

The whole story begets belief but their stupidity is the hardest bit to get over!

Oh Clive.

On the birth at sea.

From a different news outlet, “The sea gives off a frequency which is a natural painkiller. It was so much less painful for her.”

I mean, I’m both a hypnobirther and an open water swimmer… I still say: fuck off Clive 🤣

😂😂 Jesus Christ.

Men’s opinions on childbirth: you love to see it

FannyCann · 13/08/2023 07:04

Haven't read the whole thread but where did they get the boat? Is it chartered? I don't understand how they flew out, got on a boat and she gave birth before they got to the beach she had earmarked and now they are living on the boat going around looking for somewhere to register the birth.
It's all too bonkers for me to comprehend.

27Mankinis · 13/08/2023 07:16

It's probably already been said and I have missed it but I reckon that he just changed his name to Freeman because you know... 'Free Man' as part of the hippy shtick.

Anyway iulia living with all those Clives reminds me of the time my husband went sailing with some friends named Rupert. (3 Ruperts and 1 Mr 27Manikinis on the boat).

BoreOfWhabylon · 13/08/2023 07:19

You are all quite wonderful!

Clive is described as a sports coach in the Mail.

I want to know who Clive was before he was Dave.

Also, perhaps there is no ex Mrs Dave/Clive because he couldn't find any other woman who would put up with his nonsense.

CitadelOfChaos · 13/08/2023 07:23

I had two planned home births in Cornwall, only five minutes from a beach.
Never thought of checking the tides, my lovely midwife suggested an IKEA shower curtain. We went for a mostly red design which used to crop up in mid priced bathroom makeover articles.

Ohmylovejune · 13/08/2023 07:35

@27Mankinis

I think you can only buy a yacht if you are called Rupert. You buy them from Rupert that you went to school with.

27Mankinis · 13/08/2023 07:40
Grin
loislovesstewie · 13/08/2023 07:46

Did it occur to them that by appearing in this ridiculous article they are making complete fools of themselves? No one has a shred of sympathy for THEM, the baby ,yes, but 2 idiotic people who can't even Google the rules re giving birth and registering that birth in another country don't elicit any sympathy.

AlanJohnsonsBeamer · 13/08/2023 07:48

I saw this the other day and nearly spat out my tea is sheer shock of how utterly stupid it is.

I have zero sympathy for anyone involved except the baby who is very cute.

Figgygal · 13/08/2023 07:57

Utter fools!!
Poor kids maybe the daughter should stay with the aunt permanently

GrabbyGabby · 13/08/2023 08:10

This thread is a thing of wonder. It so needs to go in classics.

I am ENRAGED that thr lazy arse british media have not built on your incredible work here (from what i can tell not a peep in the Sunday papers). Surely at least one hack out there is smelling a juicy story.

usernother · 13/08/2023 08:15

Not only are her parents daft they have saddled this poor child with a name that they will have to spell out to people for all of their life.

Sausagenbacon · 13/08/2023 08:18

Great thread!
It reminds me of having to read The Salt Path for book group. Same kind of idiot.

aeaeae · 13/08/2023 08:18

I can’t believe that one of them hasn’t returned to the UK to be with their 8yo! The poor child.

Also it’s a massive ask of the auntie. It’s one thing asking someone to look after your child for a few weeks in term time but it’s now the summer holidays; if she’s working then that could be causing a massive headache for her.

If there's anything online the media will have been aware of it before they decided to print the original story, they have to be careful what they print and when though.

itsgettingweird · 13/08/2023 08:28

So did they deliberately print enough so superstars like the posters on this thread could fill in the gaps by information available online?

If so that's actually as inspired as this thread.

I'm still giggling at wouldn't even share a seesaw with him 🤣

Gibstub · 13/08/2023 08:28

Not fit to be parents. Utterly selfish. Social Services should be waiting for them when they land back in the UK.

Louisa?

Lol, I saw a photo of them and thought the baby was called Luliia. Silly me. But thank goodness it's Louisa

BitOutOfPractice · 13/08/2023 08:33

I’m going back to read the full thread but have we established why, for the love of all things holy, this silly woman was on a boat? And not The beach?
