Just after everyone's opinions. I'm on an all inclusive holiday . Nothing flash . European destination. Hot sunny . 3*. Would you feel offended if a female sunbathes topless at the pool? Just for context I have done , but put bikini top on to go in pool and her drinks . It's literally just going topless when laying on sunbed . More context age range is babies up to 70+ . Lots of different shapes and weights of people . Lots of bellies make and female and lots of big boobs on men. Like I say this is just for context . Just interested in people's opinions. I'm with my husband on holiday .

Yeah like penises were designed for peeing. Things can have multi purposes.

Yeah like penises were designed for peeing. Things can have multi purposes.

Penises were also created for reproductive purposes, like vaginas.

Maireas · 04/08/2023 17:16

So, to repeat upthread, why was there such a business in topless calendars, page 3, lad's mags etc?
I've not seen earlobes monetised like this.

I’m really unsure about what you’re posting, you seem to be arguing that breasts are not sexual and should not be covered up. No one is this unaware, surely? From early teenage years humans know this.

jeaux90 · 04/08/2023 17:22

No from me.

Mainly because I don't get like getting perved over by men and I don't lay in the sun apart from to dry off.

In an ideal world it wouldn't matter but it's not. There are too many gross men out there.

browneyes77 · 04/08/2023 18:00

I mean I could never go topless. I hate feeling that exposed. Especially as I have big boobies. Spend most of my time trying to cover them up 😂

But I wouldn’t personally be offended if you did. That’s your choice.

Is it a family hotel? If there’s lots of children around, I’m not sure whether it would be as appropriate, unless you’re a bit further away from the kiddies.

Custardslices · 04/08/2023 18:06

Well OP did you?

lindyloo57 · 04/08/2023 18:08

I wouldn't by the pool, on the beach maybe, but only to tan my back.

Ange1233556 · 04/08/2023 19:06

Honestly I think it’s a bit grim. Totally up to you but I genuinely don’t get why it’s necessary. To be fair I feel the same about full on thongs. Why do people need a full body tan!?

Overworkedandunderpaid22 · 04/08/2023 19:50

Absolutely not, no one wants to see you topless, don’t be a tart

StarlightLady · 04/08/2023 20:01

@Overworkedandunderpaid22 "don’t be a tart". No need for misogynistic language because you are of a different opinion.

@browneyes77 - The sight of the female breast will not scar children for life.

Iwant2stayanon · 04/08/2023 20:11

Personally I just wouldn’t want to look at that in a public area. So it’s a no from me. I feel it’s the kind of thing you do if you rent a private villa or sunbathe on your balcony.

Ilovecleaning · 04/08/2023 20:15

Who cares? Do what you want.

BungleandGeorge · 04/08/2023 20:18

Six packs and pecs are also highly sexual but it’s acceptable to show those, why is that?
unless you’re going to cover yourself head to toe you’re going to be showing a body part that someone somewhere finds arousing. Even if you cover yourself head to toe there’s going to be someone who finds that arousing.
personally I’d much rather a woman topless than a hairy back and beer gut, but generally think people should just get over it!

Tessabelle74 · 04/08/2023 20:22

I tried it once, lasted about 10 minutes as I was too self conscious! I however have absolutely no problem with others doing it

neighboursmustliveon · 04/08/2023 20:27

I personally find it grim and don’t see the need. Take your straps down but do you really need brown boobs?

I remember my mum sunbathing topless as a child and I was always mortified.

Cheesusisgrate · 04/08/2023 20:31

Overworkedandunderpaid22 · 04/08/2023 19:50

Millions of women are tarts because they are not hiding their boobies.
Might come a surprise to some but not everywhere is UK and UK's social norms.
The fact that you don't do something doesn't mean someone else doing it is wrong. Another surprise probably

Missingpop · 04/08/2023 20:37

your on holiday god if your happy to sunbathe with your top off go for it!! Crikey there are all shapes & sizes out there who’ll have their boobs out if anyone’s offended they can look the other way, or go back to their hotel room.

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 04/08/2023 20:47

SleeperSloth · 04/08/2023 09:47

I'm not sure it blurs the line. It teaches my child how to measure risk, to make choices that they alone are comfortable with, to be confident in their body and recognise that not every situation is sexual. I didn't say the gender of my child but nor do you know the messages we give them about inclusivity, body confidence, making choices for yourself, not judging others rights to make that choice, recognising different cultures and ways of doing things aren't always "wrong" and how to trust their gut when something is wrong and what to do about it.
I guess I'm saying we live in a world with billions of people who will have different opinions and ways of doing things. To say they are always wrong because they don't align with our point of view is narrow minded. I don't want my child to grow up narrow minded so I allow them to ask questions and accept that sometimes people will do things differently from our family and that's ok.

I'd say that's pretty balanced and sensible.

SportyMumOf2 · 04/08/2023 20:51

I always will and have gone topless sunbathing. It's my body and they are only boobs. Likewise, I would cover up going for a drink at the bar going from room to pool. I wouldn't wear a bikini top in the pool though

Danielle9891 · 04/08/2023 21:20

I've seen it at the beach in Europe but not hotel pools, especially family friendly ones. I'd be nervous of someone taking photos.

I even covered up when I was breastfeeding but I've got very little self confidence. But if you've got the confidence and don't mind people looking then go for it.

SylvieB74 · 04/08/2023 21:25

We were in Benidorm a couple of years ago (all inclusive) there was just one woman sat around the hotel pool with them out. She was a middle aged lady and it seemed that she’d had them
’done’ so jolly well wanted to show them off! Anyway I’m a bit of a prude tbh, ‘sort of’ Muslim family and stuff, but it didn’t seem shocking or naff or anything at all. No one batted an eyelid it just seems alright abroad for some reason.

😂😂😂

@Overworkedandunderpaid22 what do you mean by tart and why does sunbathing topless make you one??
