To take all the reduced meat?

So last night around 6pm I went to the supermarket and specifically went for the 90% off bargains
I went to the main reduced fridge (after waiting for 15 mins for them to reduce ) and got 2 packs of roast potatoes 33p each ,3 packs of bbq chicken legs for 46p each
pork kebabs for 44p each
Then normally 15 mins later they bring down the reduced meat that day.
There was about 5 people waiting around and I seen the butcher fill his green tub up with the meat and leave it on the counter
So I walk up (everyone was just waiting by the reduced fridge and didn't see what he had done )
I walk up and got 2 steaks 59p each
A beef joint for £1.03p
A pork joint for 43p
Two chickens 38p each and 4 packs of burgers 26p each.
Would you have done the same ?
Or left some for someone else
My freezer is now full for the month and that came to well under £6/£7

This will fill the next 22 pages.. 😂

Ha! Ha!

I am not vegan but contributed to a recent thread with my favourite meat-free recipes.

You wouldn't believe the rage I got from people who were vegan and meat eaters. It boiled down to I shouldn't have posted because, whatever.

I was hurt but undeterred so will post again one of my favourite vegan recipes. If you are not vegan or watching your weight feel free to go with full-on veggie paneer.

I am defiant. And it's scrumptious. And cheap.

Meera Sodha’s vegan recipe for matar tofu, or pea, cashew and tofu curry | The new vegan

This curry loses none of the richness of the traditional dish thanks to a rich cashew paste instead of paneer and blistered tomatoes and mangetouts

So, your argument, just to summarise, is that you took a load to fill your freezer for a month because you weren't 'sure anyone else' would have left anything? As arguments go, that's pretty pathetic. Why should you be concerned with whether or not others would have been selfish enough to take a load?

I will say at this point that ok, you do it once a month. Would it really hurt to take a little less and do it once a week instead? Now, I get that it's one day in the month. Thing of it is, though, I know that I myself have pretty much that one day window to be able to get supplies. I would assume with things being the way they are, I'm not the only person with a one-day window.

If I had been bargain hunting and found there's nothing there, ok, fair enough, there's nothing there. I don't mind losing out to another 10 faster people. One person, though... Losing out to ONE person who just decided to take a month's supply during the one day I have to be able to shop? Well. Nothing I can do about it, I would hardly cry over the bargains I didn't get to see, but to know it's been basically emptied by one person? That is a bitter pill.

Good for you! Ignore the virtual signalers! 😎

@cymbidium I have two shoebox files of loads torn out of actual newspapers and magazines stretching back 30 years. I looked at them recently and thought: "Why do I never look at these?"

I also have a more manageable online file which is mostly from The Guardian. And I collect the beautifully-shot recipe cards from Waitrose that I keep meaning to make.

I'd recommend the Guardian ones.

That is an argument and a summary but one I wouldn't take it to the Hague Court Of International Justice because I fell asleep.

Are you a hunter of reduced food and/or a human rights lawyer by any chance?

You'd be rubbish at both IMO but there could be an opening for you as a sleep expert.

So you see 5 x £10 on the floor and no one’s around. Do you take £10 and leave £40 for others to find.
op you did nothing wrong, there are 30 days left of a month for others to get their meat.

I wouldn’t keep any of it, I’d hand all of it in to customer services (and have done).

Cash lying around on the floor is not a bonus windfall- that might be all the money someone has left to feed their family.

I am tight as a duck’s arse but even I draw the line at keeping money like this. It’s theft.

I’m also grateful to the person who picked up the £10 notes I’d been leaking from my pocket like Hansel and Gretel and for handing them all in.
