How often do you wash your bra??

This afternoon my sister and I were chatting and this came up- she washes her bra's after every wear. I am quite the opposite... my brand's go many many wears between washes and never seem obviously dirty or have any kind of scent.

AIBU and a skanky cow or is she being a clean freak? Just wondering what the general consensus is?

Also to clarify... we had this conversation getting changed at the gym- the only exception to my rule is sports bra's which do get sweaty and are washed after every wear.

One a week. Am clearly a minger and need to change this.

Confusion101 · 27/07/2023 20:39

I think this is one of those things where the first person answers "every day" so then everyone else just follows that for a while because they don't want a reputation of being dirty, and then someone admits they do it less often and everyone agrees 😂 same as changing your bed clothes or washing your hair!

Cnidarian · 27/07/2023 20:42

After a few days. Honestly though this is so person specific, how sweaty you are and crucially how big your boobs are. I noticed when I was pregnant/breastfeeding needed to change much more frequently. More bits touch other bits, sweat was more intense. I thought people who changed bra every day were total clean freaks till I got big boobs. And now they're small again it's back to not needing that and it's really not gross, but if you only are of the larger nork that might be hard to appreciate!

Feeling very relieved to hear I am not alone!

Thanks ladies!

After every wear because they match my knickers. I think I should buy two pairs of knickers per bra, iyswim, but I always seem to forget 🙄

Paddingtonsmarmlade · 27/07/2023 20:48

3/4 days. Often I'll have 2 on the go in different colours and then get chucked in the wash each week.

sports bra every wear and if it's hot or I've been particularly active I'll wash them more often.

myveryownelectrickitten · 27/07/2023 20:49

in my 20s and early 30s prob 4-5 wears or even more - t

sanityisamyth · 27/07/2023 20:53

I only have 2 bras. I wear them for 2/3 days whilst the other is in the wash.

myveryownelectrickitten · 27/07/2023 20:55

Grr glitched and pressed send too soon! In my 20s/early 30s prob 4-5 wears or even more - I didn’t sweat there and my bras never smelt or got dirty! After having a baby and getting much fatter, I now sweat there a lot more, and have to wash them every wear. (If it hasn’t been hot I might stretch to two wears, but not more as then I get a rash.)

I was genuinely perplexed when this changed, and horrified to discover my bras suddenly niffed like Billy-o if I didn’t wash them constantly, especially when breastfeeding. I guess it’s hormones changing and age and so on. Gah.

Oh god. I have one good bra and just wear it non stop. For weeks. Ok I think I need to remedy this.

Same. And I don't care what anyone thinks!

calyxx · 27/07/2023 19:10

4/5 days, it's a stretchy bralet and rarely gets sweaty

Thank God I'm not the only one!

(in fact I'm even perhaps mankier then you are 🤣🤣)

BrendaMcPherson · 27/07/2023 21:01

In the summer, I hand-wash after one wear. I have quite big saggy knockers and get a fair bit of underboob sweat. In cooler weather, usually wash after about 3 wears.

I'm a minger with you then!! You're in good company!

lordloveadog · 27/07/2023 21:03

Depends on weather and activity.

Cranberriesandtea · 27/07/2023 21:04

When it smells, and by that when it smells bad.

One wear only - next to skin!

AdoraBell · 27/07/2023 21:06

Mostly every wear. On gym days, warm weather and also in the winter because I wrap up like polar bear as I hate feeling cold, it’s not likely I’ll re-wear a bra.

PurpleChrayne · 27/07/2023 21:07

Every day since breastfeeding. I get so sweaty and yeasty I can actually smell myself.

oviraptor21 · 27/07/2023 21:07

Every bra has three matching knickers and they all go in the wash together - so three days usually.
I also have sports bras and they get one wear.

TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening · 27/07/2023 21:08

Every day, it's underwear.

OsirisservesAnubis · 27/07/2023 21:12

One wear only - next to skin!

All my clothes sit next to skin - my trousers, my t shirts, my tank tops, shorts, skirts. They all directly touch my skin for extended periods of time. Do wash all clothes after 1 wear?

eatdrinkandbemerry · 27/07/2023 21:14

Daily just like my pants and socks 🤷‍♀️ but I will hold up my hands and say I'm a clean freak 🤷‍♀️
I change my clothes twice a day and wash my trainers weekly . ( I know it's not the norm)

Bonfire23 · 27/07/2023 21:16

When it smells like it needs it, probably a week but I alternate bras
Sports bras after every wear
They're £45 each so I try and make them last

Bodybop · 27/07/2023 21:19

I’m not big/saggy boobed. It’s underwear. Some of you are stinky

Crane22 · 27/07/2023 21:31

Prob once every 3-4 weeks!!! But I work from home, only wear it from noon - 5pm and barely move & dont sweat.. (yes like Prince Andrew)!
Bras are definitely not like knickers! Knickers wash every day!
Sorry if Im gross! But promise I dont smell!
