Are you referring to his being killed off in pretty much everything he's in?

He doesn't write the script.

He was very good in Time, and his character survives in the end.

I've had a thing about him ever since watching Sharpe and Boromir just made LOTR so much more watchable! I was gutted when Ned Stark died in GoT.

Yeah he's a one-trick pony, as far as I can tell he earns a living just by being an actor. I've never heard of him doing complicated surgery work or piloting commercial airliners.

Happiest memories watching Sharpe with my dad as kid

Ah, that's brought back many happy memories for me of watching Sharpe with my Dad too. Sharpe and trying to choose a movie together from Blockbusters on a Saturday evening were great. We'd usually come out with two videos as we couldnt decide. And some sweets.

I only know that from Wikipedia. I saw him on a really old inspector Morse a few weeks ago playing a posh boy in prison but the accent didn't work, you just expect him to say "do it for Yorkshire". Yes I was thinking about him being bumped off in everything and only playing Yorkshire parts.

His interpretation of Beowulf is genius. I had tried really hard to understand it, but his reading of it just made sense. It also made me cry. Who would have thought that a way of saying a poem would have made total sense, when reading it was so difficult…

I think you haven’t seen enough Sean Bean roles! Not mentioned so far:
Red Riding - an evil character but understated and slow burn compared to some of his other roles
Black Death - an interesting film about superstition and belied, not a straightforward villain role
