Tonight my very hormonal, 12 year old, pre teen told me to “shove off” when I made a joke about her playing with Lego instead of tidying her room. Quickly followed up with “you ruin everything”. It took me back a bit to be honest. It was completely out of character. It got me wondering 2 things:

  1. is this normal teenage behaviour? Or is my child suddenly going off the rails?

  2. what’s the worst thing your child has said in a rage.

That “things would be much better if you’d died instead of daddy” 😭😭😭

He really didn’t mean it and was SO sorry afterwards. Grief.

Tbh, I regularly think things would indeed be much better if it had been me. But there we are. I don’t voice it.

Oh goodness I’m speechless.
so so so sorry OP.
I hope you NEVER heard that again after you got an apology.

BravoMyDear · 17/07/2023 21:55

"You are so much more Velma than Daphne"

This is amazing 🤣

DemonicCaveMaggot · 17/07/2023 21:56

DD (4 years old) told me 'I hate you, I want to shoot you, cut off your head and give it to the peacocks and throw your body in the dumpster'. I was driving with MIL in the front passenger seat. Our eyes met and then we had to look straight ahead, both of us trying not to laugh, while DD fumed at us from her car seat.

My crime: not putting 'Bob the Builder' on the minivan DVD player during the 10 minute drive to the arboretum.

My other DC was more restrained, fixing me with an icy stare at 2 years old and coldly declaiming 'You will pay for this'.

Tilllly · 17/07/2023 21:57

Ready for a night out and DS said "is it fancy dress?"

And aged 3 "I like Mummy cuddles best. She's all squidgy and wobbles"

GetOurraMeWay · 17/07/2023 22:05

You're the worst mummy in the world!!
DS age 10. I told him there was some stiff competition for that title 😂

justanothermummma · 17/07/2023 22:08

My 3yo (now almost 5) told me she hated me and I was the worst Mum in the world.. ONCE, It stung.

But if I compare that to the 'you're the best Mummy' and 'I love you all the world and stars' - it doesn't come close in number (this is daily pretty much).

Kids have big emotions and as early teens, even more so.

What might be trivial to you is huge to them.

I wouldn't call this 'off the rails' by any stretch. Not even close. Once relationships, alcohol, sex, exams, peer pressure, drugs (hopefully not soon) come into play, then you can consider 'off the rails'.

Our kids are now also growing up with social media and unrealistic expectations of body types, love and so on. It's bound to be a rough ride.

I'm pretty sure my Mum would take 1000 'you ruin everything's' over me turning up drunk as a teen. Good luck OP x

Mindovermatter247 · 17/07/2023 22:11

DS is 15 and has asd but has never uttered anything like that to me, to his dad yes but never me…
dd 10 however is a different story, I suspect she has adhd and sometimes can be full on, she’ll stand directly in front of you when your talking, watching tv etc, sometimes I ask her to move and she says I’m being mean…
she’s also said I’ve ruined everything… she used to be pretty good at understanding no but recently she will ask and ask and ask until lose my proverbial shit and then get upset… I don’t give in though… im pretty laid back 90% of the time… sometimes she just pushes my buttons a few to many time. I think it’s par for the course of teens and pre teens…

OrangeKettle · 17/07/2023 22:14

Fat whore, bitch, kill yourself, you’re a failure, you can’t even parent properly, you’re useless, etc.

12 year old.

About to start assessments for ASD.

After reading this thread, I’m wondering if maybe she is. I thought it was my poor parenting (although other daughter is lovely, and I’ve been asking for help and support for years, but she always behaved during primary so nothing was ever done).

Funee · 17/07/2023 22:18

Our 6 year old called her dad a ‘crusty old man’ the other day. He had asked her to put her shoes away. I’ve no idea where she got it from.

Hibiscrubbed · 17/07/2023 22:19

That I was a burger face and he was going to put me in the bin and stand on the lid so I couldn’t get out. And I wasn’t allowed to have any cheese. All in the same breath. He is only three though.

nothingcomestonothing · 17/07/2023 22:20

I get stupid fucking cunt, fucking bitch, kill yourself, I hate you at least a few times a week (my DC have additional needs) but my most memorable was DS aged 4 telling me in a withering voice 'No one likes you. Even your parents don't like you' when I said no to ice-cream!

waterst · 17/07/2023 22:22

DD12 is autistic so we regularly get the usual - fuck off, cunts.

However what was far more hurtful was when she called me a boomer. I'm gen X thank you very much 😂

Greengagesnfennel · 17/07/2023 22:24

CurlewKate · 17/07/2023 19:33

My dd said "Back off, old woman, your time has past!!"

Do I win??

🤣

Hankunamatata · 17/07/2023 22:25

WhiteFire · 17/07/2023 19:39

Same in my house. Do you ignore it or what?

He comes out with all the worst swear words in the world. 😢

Yep I can join that club. Verbally abusive words get a warning then lose electric devices for a day.

ChorltonWheelie · 17/07/2023 22:28

I wish you were dead. That was fun to hear

SquirrelySponges · 17/07/2023 22:31

My daughter is a baby so none from her yet but as a teenager I did tell my Dad he could "shove his fucking Christmas tree up his arse". I am reminded of that each Christmas!

I'm really sorry. I winced reading that - the 4 yo comment would certainly have hurt me 😞

EarringsandLipstick · 17/07/2023 22:33

@Mariposista

Oh goodness I’m speechless.

You read that the child in question is grieving her dad, right?

(@StJulian2023 I'm very sorry for your loss and how hard it is. You sound like a great mum ❤️)

Whatafustercluck · 17/07/2023 22:36

I get "fuck off you dickhead" with some regularity from dd. She's 6. Suspected ND. 'Meltdown' for her means swearing, slammed doors, broken things, dinner thrown at walls and physical aggression.

We also have a 12yo almost-teen. He's become very moody and emotional and still does/ says nothing on the same level as his little sister. "Shut up!" and "Get out!" is as bad as it gets with him.

Our house and home life is interesting.

ToWhitToWhoo · 17/07/2023 22:37

I'm told that when I was about 4, I got really cross with my Mum, and wagged my finger at her, shouting 'Woe betide you! Woe betide you!'

liveforsummer · 17/07/2023 22:40

Aw thats mild. Tbf my dc are too but dd10 is far worse than dd13. Not said anything especially rude off the top of my head but the last time I suggested a consequence I was told 'well you won't do it anyway, you always forget' well I might have forgotten once or twice but certainly won't this time kiddo ..... 😅

Mariposista · 17/07/2023 22:42

Brilliant 🤣🤣🤣 who did you learn that off?
It’s not rude but my kid frequently trots out with ‘oh honestly’ (after me) or ‘for heaven’s sake’ (MIL). Just sounds so funny coming from a 5 year old, with her silly little frown on her face imitating us. Good job we aren’t a sweary family.

ToWhitToWhoo · 17/07/2023 22:42

Not said to me, but the most 'interesting' one I heard, from an angelic-looking 3-year-old, was 'You fucker! I'm going to kill you! I'm going to eat you! I'll put you down the toilet and pull the chain and then you'll be dead!'

Doro371 · 17/07/2023 22:45

My son used to uninvite people from his birthday party when they did anything that annoyed him. Didn't matter if his birthday was months away, the person had never been invited or even was a random stranger smoking or swearing in the street.
I have been uninvited from most of his birthdays at some point, but was still allowed to bake and tidy up. 🤷🏻‍♀️
I haven't found the courage yet to tell Harry Kane that he can't come because of something
he did wrong in the World Cup 😥

Saschka · 17/07/2023 22:45

DS went through a phase, sadly now over, of drawing a stickman picture saying:

no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no
