Hi we took our 3 month old puppy to get his nails cut today, our puppy was on a lead & other dog (Collie) was on an extendable lead with his owner. When we walked in the Collie barked in our puppies face making him cry & run away. So should the owner of the Collie of said sorry? Should we have said anything to owner (we didn’t as we didn’t want to cause a scene over a dog barking making our puppy scared).

Dogs bark at each other - Your puppy will learn to deal with it. The other dog was on a lead. You are overreacting 🤷🏼‍♀️

Oh wow!!

Heard it all now!

😂😂😂

Dogs bark at other dogs. Puppies need to learn their place in the pack. When your pup is older he/she will do the same , it's in their nature. And no, you shouldn't HAVE said anything to the other owner

Blueskyfordays · 12/07/2023 18:53

LOL, this can’t be real surely?!

YAB massively U if it is OP. Please don’t treat your dog like a child. It will get barked at by lots of dogs over it’s lifetime, it won’t melt, promise 🙄🙄

Zarataralara · 12/07/2023 18:53

It’s dog behaviour. Not the same as human behaviour.
Your pup is seen as inferior, lower down the pack order to all other dogs. In the wild the older dogs would bark, shake or even pin a pup down to put it in its place. Sounds harsh to us but it’s pack behaviour.
Your pup cried to say hey I’m little, I know, don’t kill me. He may well have laid down or laid on his back to show his submission to the older dog. This is all wired into his brain so don’t worry he won’t have come to any harm.
Pack behaviour is fascinating, well worth watching other dogs when your pup is ready to go out into the world.

That's is what I've just said but maybe not so politely 🤣.

PerspiringElizabeth · 12/07/2023 18:53

Hahaha what?? 😂😂

FloweryName · 12/07/2023 18:54

Dogs bark. If you take your puppy to other places where dogs are, expect barking. You are being ridiculous, but I remember how protective I was over my puppy when we first got him so I don’t blame you.

That si s just what I've said but maybe not so politely 🤣

Hellocatshome · 12/07/2023 18:54

Oh dear God! Please take your puppy to puppy socialisation classes as you obviously haven't got a clue and the puppy needs to learn how to interact with other dogs.

WunWun · 12/07/2023 18:54

This is the most snowflake thing I've ever read on here.

Pkhsvd · 12/07/2023 18:54

No and no, how strange

Beaconofasseptability · 12/07/2023 18:55

I would arrange puppy classes asap.

liveforsummer · 12/07/2023 18:55

Bless. Dogs bark. It's ok. No Apollo was needed ad I second maybe getting to a puppy class so you can learn about dog socialisation

IkeaMeatballGravy · 12/07/2023 18:56

Poor pup getting a fright. He will need to get used to it though, dogs bark at each other all the time, it's perfectly normal.

You are possibly being a little PFP (precious first puppy) OP!

Loveys · 12/07/2023 18:56

Oh dear op

Stressfordays · 12/07/2023 18:56

🤣🤣🤣 Id of found that really funny

DamaskRosie · 12/07/2023 18:56

Good lesson for your pup who needs to learn how to socialise. Would recommend taking him to some classes and to lots of places he can meet other dogs and learn the ropes.

Whyjustwhy123 · 12/07/2023 18:56

You do realise that dogs learn like dogs not humans?

ForeverFriendsAndPierrot · 12/07/2023 18:57

Op are you sure you are up to dog ownership?

I'm a bit worried for your poor dog if this is such a problem for you?

ladydimitrescu · 12/07/2023 18:57

No - no. Good lord.

Inthesamesinkingboat · 12/07/2023 18:57

putting the flippant comments aside. You do need to get a grip. Dogs look towards their owners for guidance on how to react in a situation. If something like this has you rattled your puppy will pick up on that and it isn’t going to do them any favours. I would just encourage my puppy away and to focus on you. Dogs that bark get ignored-simple

Jupiter15 · 12/07/2023 18:57

Surely this is not for real 🤣
