Pls help me find where to buy humane meat

I am looking for meat which is raised under highest standards of animal welfare: free-range obviously, and killed on the farm to avoid the stress of transportation to an abattoir.
Ideally in Wales as that’s where I live, but keen to hear of places further afield if they have a website and can purchase online.
Can anyone suggest anywhere?

I'm from another country, but I would look up any places that specify halal or kosher. Those should be the most humane places, and they would kill their animals humanely as well.

Lammveg · 08/07/2023 19:39

Definitely read that as human meat

Hahaha, that's hilarious! 😆

You can only slaughter some animals on the farm, even with the right licence. Birds, deer etc. Cows, pigs and sheep cannot be slaughtered on the farm and sold (they can only be eaten by the farming family directly). So you won't find meat slaughtered at the farm.

Google home killed organic Welsh meat.
Lots of places come up.

Eg

There's no such thing as humane meat. The animals are just as dead regardless.

@Lammveg me too 😬. Thought “man MN gets weird on a Saturday night!” 😂

Alwaysveggie · 08/07/2023 19:47

I mean, you cannot completely eliminate the cruelty of slaughtering a living being because you want to eat it. The animal will, at some point, feel fear and uncertainty as it's not exactly being snuck up on in the field whilst happily grazing and killed instantaneously. We also hope there is no pain (though how people say with assurance it's guaranteed they don't I'll never understand). If you're concerned about these ethical dilemmas, just stop eating meat. It's incredibly easy to do in this day and age with so many veggie options around, and it's so much cheaper 🤷🏻‍♀️

pigsDOfly · 08/07/2023 19:47

The animal is being killed so it can be eaten. It's still going to be dead at the end of it.

Probably more humane not to kill it in the first place.

Inkypinkee · 08/07/2023 19:48

Don’t rely on halal meat as being more humane, that’s not true in the uk.

Daylesford

Look for venison perhaps - deer often need culling and it’s generally very locally managed.

Halal and kosher are non-stun, so personally I wouldn't go down that route.

This, alot of deer are invasive species in the UK and are only legally killed by skilled marksmen.

They also breed far quicker than most land owners can control their numbers for the benefit of our ecosystem.

So how do we control non native invasive species?

BrambIeberry · 08/07/2023 19:56

There is no such thing. Stop trying to find a good way to do a barbaric unnecessary thing.
