I work a very high pressured job in the city (often 7am-8/9pm) OH is similar albeit he finishes at 6pm usually. I’ve shopped around and noticed there are a few schools that offer day boarding rather than over night boarding and really feel this would work for our family. DM is saying I’m a bad parent and this is not the answer etc aibu to be considering this 🫤

@Appleblossompetal 6 and 10

Get a nanny assuming funds permit. He/she will do full time in the holidays which are presumably long if they are in private school, and cover wrap around during the week.
They will have home cooked meals, have their homework supported, be able to have friends over, and go to scouts or go to bed early if feeling unwell. They will also be through a shower/bath by the time you get home, uniform in the laundry and what little time you have with them will be for cuddles and stories.
Plus there are a million other small benefits for a parent - kit list for school trips, costumes for plays, dentist and opticians appointments, someone to walk the dog or stay in for the repair man/woman. The occasional overnight support for business trips or a weekend away.

I think it's too long a day for a 6 yo. You will basically collect them and take them home for supper and a quick bath. Maybe a bedtime story on a good day but you will be racing against the clock.

Day boarding or weekly boarding for senior school.

OP I had a live in nanny, once my DD14 was at secondary school I switched to part time boarding.
