to be annoyed with "friend"?

I recently went out with a couple of friends. 1 is one of my closest friends and the other is someone we both know from a mother and baby club.
We went a did a bit of shopping and then went for lunch. While we were having lunch the friend I'm closest too said that now she is on maternity leave she feels a bit lonely sometimes so I told her about MN. The other friend rolled her eyes but said nothing.

Then ds did a dirty nappy so I went to change him. When I got back the friend who isn't really a friend said "I don't see why you changed him, I only change dd in the morning and in the evening no matter how many poos she does." I smiled and said that I'd rather change a pooy nappy straight away and she said "Well you do work instead of stay at home and you talk to wierdos on the internet." I didn't say anything to that.

Surely when I change my ds's nappy has nothing to do with me not being a SAHM or talking on MN. Also I don't think we're wierdos.

urgh - she leaves her dd in a pooey nappy - that's REVOLTING! Even if her dd has the skin of a rhino, it's really not ok to foist the smell on everyone else.

I'd rather be wierdo than have a smelly baby.

pedilia · 23/02/2008 17:18

OMG she does 2 nappy changes a day
Sounds like a complete bitch!

kayzisbroody · 23/02/2008 17:20

Thats why I changed him. He has the habit of pooing as soon as I go out and I dont really want a smelly baby.
Her dd does smell and loads of people have commented at the m&b club.
She also complains about how much money she has to spend on nappy rash cream but doesn't think its caused by her only changing her twice a day.

hecate · 23/02/2008 17:20

Well, why didn't you say anything? only changes her baby's nappy twice a day no matter how dirty? Is this a joke? That's neglect! A baby cannot sit in a shitty nappy all day!

kayzisbroody · 23/02/2008 17:23

She uses washable nappies Hecate and she said she doesn't want to spend the day washing nappies. The HV has told her loads of times what is causing the nappy rash. I know that on weekends when her h is at home her dd gets changed a lot more as he doesn't like the smell.

Surelt thats neglect? What an awful woman. Poor poor baby.

2shoes · 23/02/2008 17:25

oh so glad she thinks we are weirdos then she won't come on here
of cause yanbu. who would leave a baby in a dirty nappy. yikes

kayzisbroody · 23/02/2008 17:26

I know, my other friend offered to go and change her dd when I took my ds so she could finish her lunch but she said no as it would upset dd's routine.

She sounds a bit odd- and very pass-remarkable! Why would you only change your baby twice a day? And worse, why would you then boast about it??!! Don't think I'd be inviting her out for lunch again!

hecate · 23/02/2008 17:29

She leaves her baby dirty and smelly and IN PAIN....... because nappy rash hurts..... and she calls you (and us) weirdos? She doesn't want to spend the day changing nappies? Nutter.

does she at least open the nappy and change the liner thing? (did not use toweling nappies, can you tell?!)

TotalChaos · 23/02/2008 17:30

good god she sounds rude and bordering on child cruelty with the nappy changes thing.

I dont know. We were out for around 4 hours and I changed ds once(had changed him just before I left home and as soon as I got in) and other friend changed her twins one of them once and the other twice. She never once took her into a changing room.

I change ds when we get up, before every feed, if he does a pooey nappy and before he goes to bed. I always change him when we're out as I have to get the bus everywhere so can't determine how long it'll take to get home.

HV has spoken to her about it loads of times. I work with her mum and she is constantly telling her to change her more and that will get rid of the nappy rash and that it wont upset her routine.

It would be quite funny if she was as she'd then be calling herself a wierdo!

YANBU

You gotta change a pooy nappy, if you're not into washing them all the time then don't use reusables! Her poor wee girl.

Desiderata · 23/02/2008 17:41

She must have had the occasional lurk on here, or she wouldn't have rolled her eyes at mention of us!

BabiesEverywhere · 23/02/2008 17:42

I wonder if she would feel that nappy changes were unnecessary, if she was the one in nappies...twice a day FFS

kayzisbroody · 23/02/2008 17:47

The HV has told her to use disposable nappies. I dont know why she wont. I'm hoping she'll get the picture when she takes her dd to the doctors this week. She thinks the nappy rash is an allegy to the stuff she washes the nappies in.

justnotsure · 23/02/2008 17:50

That is so utterly gross.

Someone should smear piss and shite all over her arse and wrap her in cling film for 12 hours it would be interesting to see how comfortable she'd feel.

OracleInaCoracle · 23/02/2008 17:53

thats appalling (not to mention neglectful) that poor baby! surprised hv hasnt threatened her with more serious action tbh

VictorianSqualor · 23/02/2008 17:53

Ewwww, that's gotta be really unhealthy. Poor kid.
She was right about one thing though, many MNers are weirdos, some of them wash their clothes and some even wash their children
