Is anyone else 'Fappy'?

Is anyone else the above ? Fat and happy? (Not my abbreviation i saw it online) I've tried it all - slimming world, weight watchers, Cambridge, intermittent fasting, keto, low carbs, gym 7 days a week etc etc and I never drop below 100kg (I'm 5'8") and I'm so miserable
My options are either accept it (I'm healthy just big- size 16/18) and move on or look at a gastric band/bypass etc etc.

Is anyone else 'Fappy'? Am I being ridiculous even considering doing that and accepting my size?

YABU get the bypass you'll never be happy
YANBU I'm Fappy and you can be too

Just to let you know. Fap is slang for wanking..

SnapPop · 22/06/2023 20:47

I thought a gastric band is aimed at someone much bigger than size 16/18? I may be wrong though.

WhisperingAutistic · 22/06/2023 20:47

I really thought this was going to be a post about something else.. Blush

🤣🤣🤣 Well I've never heard that one. Regardless I've explained what I meant so hopefully no one gets confused.

Maybe but I'm 108kg and have a very large bust so I weigh more than my clothes size if you see what I mean. I would possibly qualify but I can afford to do it privately anyway.

I kind of feel like this answer is so perfect that the thread should just end now

(Just kidding OP - I hope you get the responses you’re looking for)

Isthatascratchonmygrandmother · 22/06/2023 20:49

I'm very fappy. About 3-4 times a day if I can. ☝️

beeskipa · 22/06/2023 20:50

Thin =/= happy. Fat =/= unhappy.

Your mindset is the problem. You've been taught a particular body shape is what you should be happy with and now you're miserable when it seems as though that just isn't a shape your body will do without literal starvation or surgery. You need to learn how to unlink your physical size with your sense of happiness and self-worth, especially as it sounds like it's consumed a large part of your life and time.

WellWellWellWhatHaveWeHeree · 22/06/2023 20:50

I'm 40 years old and have never ever heard the tern Fap in regards to wanking. Never. Is it an American term or something?!

Balloonhearts · 22/06/2023 20:51

@WhisperingAutistic Me too 😂 Bit of an unfortunate acronym.

Lostinplaces · 22/06/2023 20:52

No I’m Frappy. Fat and crappy 🤣

Balloonhearts · 22/06/2023 20:52

Nope. England here and on asking, all of us know what fapping is although the teenager is looking at us in utter disgust at mentioning it. Apparently it's not something that is said aloud, you just DO it.

CapEBarra · 22/06/2023 20:53

I had to tell my sister that nonce was slang for paedophile the other day after she kept calling me and my mum one. Turns out she thought it was a joke term for someone who talked nonsense.

50but17inside · 22/06/2023 20:53

OP, do you think all the diets you’ve tried before don’t work because you feel genuinely hungry on them and cave? Have you ever tried focusing on high protein intake? It’s so filling and crave curbing, I’m a total convert now. Really easy to do

NecklessMumster · 22/06/2023 20:53

Im not particularly happy about my size (18/20) but I am never going on a diet again, think they're bad for you. Im doing regular exercise and pilates, and im following the zoe type ideas, not eating UPF or snacking etc and I do feel better, weight loss will be a bonus

LivingDeadGirlUK · 22/06/2023 20:54

Yes this isn't what I was expecting when I opened the thread OP :P but I'm glad your happy!

Personally I'm not, I've hit 40 and just seem to be developing lots of weight related niggles, sore knees, back ache, pre diabetes, its given me a kick to try and do something about it tb.

Tryagainplease · 22/06/2023 20:56

I have also never heard the term fappy to mean wanking 😂

ShirleyPhallus · 22/06/2023 20:57

Literally all of those are fad diets though. It makes me really annoyed at the diet industry in general that they’ve done a number on women and men to basically set them up to fail. “Do this diet, you’ll lose 2lbs, then put them back on, take them off, put them back on, creating unhealthy eating habits and teaching you zero about nutrition and you’ll never actually keep it off thus ensuring you’ll continually have to pay us for this weird diet cult”.

I bang on about it but I’d love to know - have you ever tried lifting heavy weights, getting a decent walk a day and then tracking your macros with a focus on protein?

😂😂

HipposHaveNipples · 22/06/2023 21:01

Fapping has meant wanking for years and years. Like 15-20 years at least. Fappy definitely wouldn't make most people think 'fat and happy', sorry 😬😂

DannyLaRuesBestFrock · 22/06/2023 21:01

You might have tried everything, but consistency is the key. Restricting food groups will never work. Exercising for fat loss is useless. It burns such a small amount of your daily calories, that you should use it to build muscle and for mental health, but not as a fat loss tool.

I was the same as you and I'm 46. Tried EVERYTHING. Calorie deficit is the only thing that has clicked and I've lost 50lb since January.

I'm still not slim or where I want to be, but ensuring 10k steps a day minimum and eating whatever I want, keeping within a deficit, has changed my life.

BUUUUT

Agree with a pp who said your mindset is wrong. Overweight should not = sad.

I lost weight cos of my knees, and also thinking I didn't want to be unhealthy approaching my 50s and being any kind of burden on my child.

Merryoldgoat · 22/06/2023 21:05

I’m very fat and constantly trying to lose weight.

My issues are emotional eating. I’ve been offered gastric bypass but don’t want it because I think I’d gain the weight back, it won’t solve my emotional issues and the significant limitations on the amount you can eat in the future mean it’s just a ‘no’.

What is your problem? Can you lose it but put it back on? Or do you just not make progress?

Merryoldgoat · 22/06/2023 21:08

@ShirleyPhallus

keto isn’t a fad diet
intermittent fasting isn’t a fad diet

They are based on sound scientific principles and show significant health benefits regardless of the actual weight loss.

They’re hard to do because of the world we live in but our body is designed to use both of those tools to survive.

Caroparo52 · 22/06/2023 21:12

Slimming world works if you follow it as it says. Onc you start to see the losses it will inspire you to continue
