Is anyone else 'Fappy'?

WellWellWellWhatHaveWeHeree · 22/06/2023 20:45

Is anyone else the above ? Fat and happy? (Not my abbreviation i saw it online) I've tried it all - slimming world, weight watchers, Cambridge, intermittent fasting, keto, low carbs, gym 7 days a week etc etc and I never drop below 100kg (I'm 5'8") and I'm so miserable
My options are either accept it (I'm healthy just big- size 16/18) and move on or look at a gastric band/bypass etc etc.

Is anyone else 'Fappy'? Am I being ridiculous even considering doing that and accepting my size?

YABU get the bypass you'll never be happy
YANBU I'm Fappy and you can be too

sillyones not sillybones 🤣

XenoBitch · 23/06/2023 00:30

I thought nonce stood for 'Not Of Normal Criminal Element' - so basically, sex offenders etc.

And yes, I saw 'fappy' and thought it would be about wanking... or some new term for faking being happy.

LonginesPrime · 23/06/2023 00:35

Ew, no.

No-one is going to join you in calling themselves fappy even if they are fat and happy, OP. That word is taken and it doesn't tend to be a group activity.

LordSalem · 23/06/2023 00:36

You're gonna draw some horny buggers to this thread with a title like that 👉🏻👌🏻💦

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 23/06/2023 00:38

I had to tell my sister that nonce was slang for paedophile the other day after she kept calling me and my mum one. Turns out she thought it was a joke term for someone who talked nonsense.

That reminds me of when David Cameron thought that you could change the vowel in 'twit' and it still meant the same (inoffensive, family-friendly) thing Grin

I must admit, I always have to read/listen carefully to make sure I understand what people are referring to when they talk about 'self-care' too....

PencilsInSpace · 23/06/2023 01:58

DS taught his gran to fist-bump and told her it was called fisting. I said nothing and concentrated on not sniggering. I am going to hell.

An 18 will be morbidly obese at most heights so why wouldn't someone consider bariatric surgery?

What tripe some of you talk! I have been a size 18 and was NOT "morbidly obese". My friend had bariatric surgery and even now is not what would be called "small". She is, however, very much smaller than what she used to be. You cannot judge people by their clothing size. I am constantly reading about people who are my height, weigh the same, or more, than what I do and yet are in two clothing sizes smaller.

I've taught teenagers forever. Been teaching a level language for a long time. Thought I was pretty clued up on all manner of slang terms. Never heard fapping. How have I missed that? Is it a southern thing?

I'm not in the UK and I've never heard the term either.

I am 5ft 8, and weigh 102kg. I don't know where OP gets her clothing, but I vary between 16 and 22 depending on the shop. I am not morbidly obese either.

LadyBird1973 · 23/06/2023 03:14

I think some people can be happy when fat. But only for so long as they are healthy and haven't developed bad knees and heart issues etc.

TMess · 23/06/2023 03:22

Well I certainly wouldn’t announce it or get a shirt made or anything if I were you. 😂

I have also never heard the term fappy to mean wanking 😂

Me neither it's now my word of the day 😄

OP I lost a LOT of weight and reversed my diabetes. You want to lose weight as much as I did, I hear it in your post. I did all the fad diets too. The game changer for me was doing exercise every day, as my lovely gym instructor explained how it changes all the hormones etc and helps to switch off hunger hormones, but diets can never switch off those hormones, so without exercise you'll always just fixate on food. Before I kinda knew that exercise helped but it was just a slog and I avoided it, but when he told me that fact about hunger it motivated me more.

He got me doing cardio AND weights and it changed my life seriously. It's really true about making you feel less hungry. He banned diet products too, got me on more protein and raw veg, more good fat, loadsa water and vitamins. I was lucky, he was one of the free gym instructors you get when you first join a gym and get a free program but he was so committed and really helped me.

Outofthepark · 23/06/2023 05:22

Good fat that is, nit bad fat, didn't know there was a difference before!!

Theos · 23/06/2023 05:28

Also in education. It’s not a youth word. But it’s def means wanking

I'm a size 22 having put 6 stone on ten years ago during a mental breakdown.

I wouldn't say I'm 'happy' with my weight as clearly being 6 stone lighter was better in many ways but I'm not 'unhappy' either.

While I like to dress well and be well groomed, I don't place much personal happiness on what I look like.

I have a DH who loves me...so that being the case what does it matter what I look like?

It has very little bearing on my happiness.

I agree with a PP that happiness and weight have very little in common.

Perhaps I'm just lucky(?) enough to be someone who has been everything from a size 10 to size 22 and actually know that to be true.

My unhappiest times coincided with me being my most attractive (and I was fairly attractive, not a model by any stretch but enough for women and men I don't know to stop me and tell me).

My happiest times I've been as fat as butter!

CorsicaDreaming · 23/06/2023 06:10

@WellWellWellWhatHaveWeHeree - you mentioned you had a v large bust and that was your key issue for weight and clothes - would breast reduction be the solution?

I'm not recommending it as I don't know that much about it. But it sounds like it could target your specific issue?

Mindovermatter247 · 23/06/2023 06:39

I’m happy and fat 🤪 I’m same as you, 5’6 size 16/18… I eat healthily, I do eat junk food occasionally but do enough exercise to counteract it, I stay roughy the same weight give or take a few pounds, I also have a medical condition where weight gain is a symptom aswell as a side effect from the medication, luckily I manage to maintain it, I used to be unhappy but realised there’s nothin I can do about it and I’ve been happy since. I’m fairly energetic, don’t smoke or drink… that also helps ..

GameOverBoys · 23/06/2023 06:51

I weighed the same as you and had a gastric sleeve. I wasn’t massively unhappy before but I’m much healthier, fitter and more active now. I feel more willing to do things that I was scared of before. I was lucky and have had zero negative side affects but there is a small bit significant risk that you may end up with problems from it, so it’s not a risk free option .

ThreeCheersForAbbie · 23/06/2023 06:56

YABU.

Don't do the gastric band. You will lose weight but there are an awful lot of risks that go with it such as higher rates of depression, vitamin deficiency and even alcoholism (because the body processes alcohol differently). Most importantly you don't learn anything about healthy eating. It is enforced restriction because you physically can't eat much. How miserable would that be. You'd be SLUM (slim and glum! 😬).

Instead take the focus off your weight and make a goal to do something physical like run a half marathon or cycling. Join a club so you're doing it with others. Something where you will want to put the very best fuel into your body in order to improve your physical performance and you are able to see and feel physical improvements. I guarantee you will lose weight and tone up without even thinking of it!

Mummadeze · 23/06/2023 07:04

I am frumpy. Fat and unhappy, and actually feeling frumpy. Have tried everything too. Do loads of exercise. I put on the last stone when I started HRT. Am at a loss honestly, but it is stopping me wanting to socialise. I feel ashamed of how I have let myself go.

That’s a bmi of 36, not far off morbid obesity
