Nice to see that the shark that killed a swimmer in Egypt was caught and beaten to death on the beach.

If some animal killed someone I loved, I'd want to kill the damned thing, too, regardless of the species' conservation status.

troubg · 09/06/2023 21:35

Humans and dinosaurs have never coexisted.

You clearly have never seen Jurassic Park, excellent doc!

ClaraThePigeon · 09/06/2023 21:36

Anyway I'm out. I'm getting far, far more grumpy and nasty than is really warranted by anyone on this thread so I'm off to give myself a good talking to over a cup of coffee and half a pack of biscuits Apologies to all concerned.

troubg · 09/06/2023 21:38

Enjoy your evening

How do you think the person who was stalked, killed, and eaten by the shark felt?

They wouldn't have felt very much for very long, and they probably didn't even realise the stalking, however, it is a horrible story. The shark wasn't killed instantly was it? That is why people are pissed off about this.

ClaraThePigeon · 09/06/2023 21:39

You too.

I'm probably going to have Baby Shark stuck in my head all weekend now for my sins.

That isn't a wrong response as far as I'm concerned, but I wouldn't want it to turn into torture, especially if it was a non-human animal doing what a non-human animal does.

troubg · 09/06/2023 21:41

😂 I need to stop procrastinating & tidy up!

These topics can be emotive, we've all been there. Tea and biscuits is definitely the way to go

troubg · 09/06/2023 21:34

the mood is

"they want to be eaten so we don't even have to feel bad about it"

“They were in the sea, which is our domain”

baloosbaloos · 09/06/2023 21:44

Enjoy your evening @ClaraThePigeon !

baloosbaloos · 09/06/2023 21:46

I’m going to bed now too but must thank you all for a good laugh. Pro-man-eating-shark people, I find your position insane, but I respect the generosity of spirit which underpins it. Non-pro-man-eating-shark-people, I’ll see you at the barricades another time 💪

Utterly dreadful behaviour. The shark caught its food. It was not trying to terrorise humans. I am not too surprised though - the way that horses and other animals are treated in the Middle East is truly dreadful. That is why I raise funds for Brooke Hospital.

Animals aren't treated much better in the UK...Dogfighting, caged chickens, cows, pigs, abandoned dogs, we're just quick to look down on anywhere except our own backyard.

ClaraThePigeon · 09/06/2023 21:47

You too. @baloosbaloos and @Bananananananananana And sincere apologies again.

The Babyshark earworm has already started. I may need more than coffee to get through this.

Itisyourturntowashthebath · 09/06/2023 21:50

@ClaraThePigeon sleep well

troubg · 09/06/2023 21:52

That is very true , the UK cannot hold its collective head above the parapet when it comes to animal husbandry . Though much animal abuse (not all but much) is ignorance .

I can actively choose not to go to Egypt again and not to give them my hard earned cash .
I can actively choose to donate to charities who will help the owners to care for their beasts of burden and help them to have better lives to do their work .

I feel sorry for the poor shark (and the guy it killed) but stuff like this always attracts 'ugh humans are the worst' type comments and it's bollocks. There are many amazing humans doing many amazing things in the world.

There are some horrendous humans though. If I came home and found our dog had killed my DH, I wouldn't beat him to death, I'd call the police who would shoot him, or I'd preferably have him escorted to the vets to be euthanised - I would explore this depending on my dog's reaction.

I totally agree with you though, there are many amazing humans in this world doing amazing things for animals.

UndercoverCop · 09/06/2023 22:36

@baloosbaloos there's a video doing the rounds on local social media of a seagull EATING a pigeon, a live one on the high street. It's not AI or shark attacks that I'm worried about

RunningUpThatMill · 09/06/2023 22:43

JayAlfredPrufrock · 09/06/2023 19:13

I’ve seen a kitten being beaten to death in Egypt. And a lizard.

This would make me want to commit crime. Or at least pay someone to do it. Fuck that.

EpicChaos · 09/06/2023 22:52

I've not caught up with that news but if people want to get angry about mistreatment of sea life, take a look at The Grind.

ThatsAboutEnoughOfThat · 09/06/2023 22:58

You know, I am actually pretty pro climate change at this point. Time to wrap up humanity. Bring it on.

Ardiaei · 09/06/2023 23:00

The shark didn’t kill the human humanely, why would humans necessarily kill the shark humanely?

Sharks kill humans. Humans kill sharks. For food or defence. Animals kill animals.

What exactly is your issue?

SilenceOfTheGoats · 09/06/2023 23:05

The shark killed the human sharkely. Humans should've killed the shark humanely.
