Nice to see that the shark that killed a swimmer in Egypt was caught and beaten to death on the beach.

<Slow handclap>

@Bananananananananana Now we encroach on the ocean that isn't our habitat for recreation.

Why isn't the ocean our habitat for recreation though? Is the sky ok?

I mean technically, technically our natural habitat is the trees.
Won't find no fish and chips or bacon butties up there though.

I just can't stand the white saviour taste that comes with all this, save the turtles, naughty naughty don't eat sharks, poor doggies.

But not giving an animal water for 24 hours and gassing it alive or leaving an animal to die in a net or suffocate on board a boat. That's fine and dandy.

I can't blame people in poorer parts of the world for making choices that impact the environment too much, because you know, virtue signalling doesn't feed your kids, but those in England need to take a good hard look at themselves before casting stones.

baloosbaloos · 09/06/2023 21:14

@Bananananananananana I do actually agree with almost everything you say here. The industrial scale destruction is so sickening and frightening. I just happen to think this particular shark death doesn’t fit the rubric. Humans simply swimming in the sea are not “invading and destroying” that habitat, and specifically destroying one shark because it killed someone is not the same as chopping their fins off for shark fin soup and dropping them back to die. Industrial fishing is an atrocity. Killing this one shark otoh seems like a very sensible idea.

Egypt is a fascinating country with amazing history , DH and I went 25 years ago but I would never set foot there again due to the vile treatment of the working horses and donkeys . Those adverts on the TV aren't the half of it .

Same. Egypt was already on my boycott list long ago for the animal cruelty and other reasons, including FGM.

Well, only thick cunts would advocate for it, that’s correct. Gunning for my second ever deletion - for identifying thick cunts out in the wild, apparently……

What are you on about? 😂

@ClaraThePigeon your campaign to save sharks that kill humans is going to be about as productive as the campaign you are no doubt about to start to save dogs that kill humans.

This, of all the posts on this thread, properly made me crack up 😂😂😂 can’t wait for the campaign, can’t wait for the mumsnet thread. I hope it starts tonight!

troubg · 09/06/2023 21:19

I will sign the campaign!

Itisyourturntowashthebath · 09/06/2023 21:19

I need to know about the farmer though @baloosbaloos
Was he killed by a shark, did he kill a shark?

troubg · 09/06/2023 21:19

😂😂

ClaraThePigeon · 09/06/2023 21:19

Is it really so beyond your limited imagination that I couldn't give a fuck about your posts/thoughts/contributions? I don't think i'm the only one either.

You gave enough of a shit to @ me and repeatedly respond to my posts.

How did you get the supposed marine conservation degree? Collect ten boxes of fish fingers?

baloosbaloos · 09/06/2023 21:20

@troubg time for an about-face, you should START the campaign

ClaraThePigeon · 09/06/2023 21:21

It must be wonderful to be so easily amused. Simple minds, simple pleasures.

Sometimes I think it should be essential to understand the trolley problem.

ClaraThePigeon · 09/06/2023 21:23

I know what the trolley problem is thank you. I always get the one with the wonky wheels.

Rosscameasdoody · 09/06/2023 21:23

ReleasetheCrackHen · 09/06/2023 18:13

It wasn’t humane, but necessary. That shark killed and then ate a person.

And the person was in the shark’s domain. It’s not like we don’t know the risks. There have been several dog attacks in recent months. Would you advocate beating a dog to death as ‘punishment’ when a quick gunshot would be more humane ?

Trolley problem?
In the 70s: Jaws
In the 80's alien.
Now for the twenties: Rogue Lidl Trolley.
The last word in suspense.

baloosbaloos · 09/06/2023 21:27

@troubg yesss! What’s the mood of the sharks?

baloosbaloos · 09/06/2023 21:30

@ClaraThePigeon the collecting boxes of fishfingers line made me me laugh too, you’re also getting off some zingers, don’t worry 😆

youhavenoshameonyourface · 09/06/2023 21:30

troubg · 09/06/2023 21:03

I agree. It's been way too long since we had any natural predators.

Do you want to bring back dinosaurs & then we can be gobbled up?

Humans and dinosaurs have never coexisted.

Hey! She also had to send a coupon in a stamped addressed envelope!

MysteryBelle · 09/06/2023 21:33

Greensleeves · 09/06/2023 18:15

The poor creature was dragged out of the sea and literally punched/kicked to death. It will have died slowly, painfully and in utter terror. For engaging in its natural behaviour in its own habitat.

These creatures are endangered ffs. Not that it would be acceptable if they weren't! If you don't want to run the risk of being predated on by sea creatures, stay out of the fucking sea.

How do you think the person who was stalked, killed, and eaten by the shark felt?

troubg · 09/06/2023 21:34

the mood is

"they want to be eaten so we don't even have to feel bad about it"
