So this happened a few miles away from where I live.
Call me old fashioned but I think this is totally inappropriate and somebody should have called the police.
I have been a naturist for 40 years but the old fashioned kind who doesn't think dangling your genitals in front of families and young children who have gone for a meal is at all appropriate.
I would question why they found the need to do this. There are plenty of naturist clubs in the area.
People go to naturist clubs to get an all over tan and be a member of an organisation that usually has a pool and cheap membership.
My non naturist friends think I'm being stuffy and ridiculous am I?

@BeachBlondey we had the window one in our town. He got arrested. Maybe our police didn't get the inclusivity message and just protect our kids from perverts flashing at them

Of course it's intended to cause alarm and distress. And to give the person doing so the opportunity to sneer at those who are alarmed and distressed. That is the only intention.

Well said

I honestly feel there's some sort of fetish aspect when people inflict that on unwilling members of the public.

Yes, and they're also not going to do it in the middle of January, are they?

Addymontgomeryfan · 07/06/2023 14:43

ArabeIIaScott · 07/06/2023 14:38

Presumably they didn't make the booking for 'Nigel, with his cock hanging out', though?

The pub was fully aware that they would be naked, they rang the pub in advance to check they would be welcome with no clothes on.

PoppyPP · 07/06/2023 14:49

Ewwwww very few people look nice naked. Total exhibitionists doing what they did. Presumably hoping for attention and maybe even some confrontation.

It wouldn’t bother me that my DC saw other people naked. We’d just tell them it was very weird behaviour in public and a bit gross. I’d then boycott the business in future.

FlameGrilledSquirrel · 07/06/2023 14:56

You'd also refuse them because quite honestly anyone so bloody self centred as to think this is acceptable is going to argue the toss with someone who disagrees and I've seen fights kick off over far less.

I'd also give pretty good odds these people wouldn't be trying this on in the axe & hatchet or other denizen infested boozers.

Ponderingwindow · 07/06/2023 15:01

This is interesting.

I’m in a country where places that serve food have health department rules requiring both a shirt and shoes for all individuals. I think bottoms that cover the genitals are implied by the rule.

I’m all for re-examining our social guidelines with regards to clothing. I’m having trouble getting past at least needing a genital cover of some sort in a restaurant, purely from a hygiene perspective. I know they aren’t necessarily touching anything from the front, so I’m trying to unpack my own bias, but I just keep coming back to at least wanting everyone to have a little something on around food.

Polari · 07/06/2023 15:02

So many MN's complain about dogs in cafes.
At least my dog doesn't put her bare bum on the seats.
Gross, not because they're visually revolting but germs from faeces and urine will transfer to the seats.
I would not eat in there.

VWHoliday · 07/06/2023 15:06

😂at posters who said they wouldn't mind. You old pervs!

I really don't want to see other peoples bits when I'm having my food.

RipWheelersHat · 07/06/2023 15:08

This is my local, me and DH were in there with friends at the time. Honestly couldn't believe it, there were so many families with young kids in there I was a bit gobsmacked tbh. Not necessarily at the nakedness, but mostly the hygiene. A lot of people got up and left

VWHoliday · 07/06/2023 15:12

It's definitely not very hygienic.

TheGreatATuin · 07/06/2023 15:12

I don't much care what naturists do. They can air their bits as much as they like, as long as its somewhere that such things are expected. It's when it comes to overriding other people's consent that it becomes a problem.
No one in that pub consented to seeing their genitals. That was just imposed on everyone, adults and children.
If it would be inappropriate for that man to send a picture of his penis to a strange woman or child, it's inappropriate to show it to them in person too.
Maybe their intent was to be 'naturists' but unless they are incredibly stupid, they'll know there will be people in that pub who wouldn't want to see them naked if asked if it was okay. They're deliberately and knowingly overriding boundaries and that is very very wrong.

Iwantitidontwantit · 07/06/2023 15:12

It's a big fat fucking no from me. I'm not a prude and but I don't want to see others people's genitals unless I've asked for it 😁. Also the thought of naked arseholes on seats makes me feel more than a bit sick.

You worded this perfectly.

But what is wrong with you if seeing a naked human body causes you alarm or distress? I wouldn't choose to go out naked but I honestly couldn't care less if other people do! As long as they don't make things sexual then no problem as far as im concerned!

VWHoliday · 07/06/2023 15:17

@gettingoldisshit

Don't you even get the hygiene part of it?

Think about it!

HoldingTheDoor · 07/06/2023 15:18

But what is wrong with you if seeing a naked human body causes you alarm or distress

There is absolutely nothing wrong with her. She's perfectly normal. The idea that there's something wrong with people who don't want to see people's genitals in public is what's fucked up.

CatfoodOzymandias · 07/06/2023 15:20

Lol at "old fashioned naturist". I didn't realise it was so important to get an all over tan. ( misses point spectacularly).

Right? It's the slow erosion of what's considered normal that I find quite scary. There are places, groups, events, their own homes and private land where people who wish to not be confined to clothes can do so and without judgement, it doesn't mean each and every space should be a free for all. Why should the wants of some override others? If people don't mind then great, but however much faux naieveity is thrown around plenty of people are uncomfortable with it.

Booksandwine80 · 07/06/2023 15:26

Minge and bollocks on the chairs 🤮

onnonotagaindear · 07/06/2023 15:27

Talk about the height of the individual over the community. They know full well a lot of people won't like this, it is a social taboo, but no ' their right' and all that.

And, bluntly, stuff comes out of women's vaginas. That's why pants and clothes are a good idea to stop that stuff going onto soft furnishings that other people will sit on.

gettingoldisshit · 07/06/2023 15:30

@VWHoliday well having worked in healthcare for years I wouldn't say that clothes have very much to do with hygiene! I have met some people who don't wash their clothes for weeks on end ( much more common than you might think) im not sure that a clean naked bottom is any more of a hygiene risk than a filthy pair of trousers that have been worn repeatedly without being washed! Also if someone is so inclined as to not wash their clothes you can imagine what their hand hygiene is like, and they will be in the restaurant touching everything around them 🤷‍♀️

getafringenotbotox · 07/06/2023 15:32

Maddy70 · 07/06/2023 13:09

I can't get annoyed by this tbh. Each to their own. Although I don't want a sweaty arse on the seat I'm about to sit on next

I thought the exact same thing.

Who wants to sit where somewheres bare genitals have just been and sweated on.

There is a time and a place.

I hope this isn't the next big thing we have to be all inclusive on and never mind anyone else's views or feelings as how long till the local flashers start using this excuse.

VWHoliday · 07/06/2023 15:34

@gettingoldisshit still riskier being naked.

Most people don't want everyone's genitals out.

speakout · 07/06/2023 15:36

Would put me off my meal.

I hope the couple brought their own seat covers.

I don't want to sit on someone else's bum crack juice or scrotal sweat.
