So this happened a few miles away from where I live.
Call me old fashioned but I think this is totally inappropriate and somebody should have called the police.
I have been a naturist for 40 years but the old fashioned kind who doesn't think dangling your genitals in front of families and young children who have gone for a meal is at all appropriate.
I would question why they found the need to do this. There are plenty of naturist clubs in the area.
People go to naturist clubs to get an all over tan and be a member of an organisation that usually has a pool and cheap membership.
My non naturist friends think I'm being stuffy and ridiculous am I?

Diners shocked as naked pair enjoy meal in Burnham-On-Sea pub

Diners at a Burnham-On-Sea pub say they were shocked after a naked man and woman walked into the bar and were served a meal.

They got the attention they were obviously after .

Zarataralara · 07/06/2023 14:02

And would you want, or want your child, to sit on the seat after them?

lostinfusion · 07/06/2023 14:03

I really hope it wasn't a buffet

I mostly think this is funny and just can't get worked up about it. I don't have the hang ups about nudity that most British people seem to have though.

Wasn't your children exposed to Neil's dick though I expect.

Museya15 · 07/06/2023 14:06

Well you can see where this one’s going….

Brefugee · 07/06/2023 14:06

well, i wouldn't worry about naked people being around children, per se, but i wouldn't want to sit on the chairs they had vacated unless i knew for sure they had been cleaned thoroughly.

i wonder if they had been older, fatter, or otherwise not young and bouncy and firm, if the people who didn't mind would have a different opinion?

@MistyGreenAndBlue that's literally what the law about indecent exposure says. It's only an offence if intended to cause alarm and distress.

Yet The Naked Rambler was arrested multiple times and spent time in prison too.

The first thing I thought of. That man was nothing but a selfish exhibitionist.

BeachBlondey · 07/06/2023 14:07

we pride ourselves on inclusivity

Ahhh, the buzz phrase of the decade. More sheep jumping on the "inclusivity" bandwagon. Where do you draw the line though?

What if Sandra wants to bring her horse to dinner?

What happens if you turn up at the school fayre, totally nude?

What happens when Pervy Pete wants to swim naked in the local swimming pool?

What if Mike wants to stand naked in his window, as school children walk by?

"inclusivity" doesn't have to be observed, when it's ridiculous to do so.

Greentree1 · 07/06/2023 14:07

I think you would have to be careful which pub you did this in, in some a naked woman would be a target for lots of half drunk men. Or children laughing at them followed by parents taking offence physically and throwing them out.

I wouldn't mind too much, but would probably stare, I definitely wouldn't like to stand next to naked strangers at a crowded bar! Or sit where their naked bums had been.

Museya15 · 07/06/2023 14:13

Some paedos and sex offenders get a thrill from being naked in front of their victim but sure why not, we are all inclusive, he/she identifies as a naked person today, so don’t ring the police or be offended, oh but hang on, you’re a Karen if you’re offended but no actually you’re a snowflake if you’re offended. Todays society eating itself whole lol 😛

I have been a naturist for over 30 years and I spend a lot of my summer naked on a famous FKK (naturist) beach (not in the UK). In front of people of all ages. It is fantastic. There is a beach bar with barstools and benches on which people sit naked to have drinks or ice lollies, and yes, you do always sit on a towel or sarong out of courtesy.

The open air restaurant at the beach is great, and lots of people have lunch there. You cannot sit naked in it, you have to put on at least a swimsuit if you want to eat there. Most people put on a sarong/beach dress etc. I would be really unhappy to sit in an indoor pub/restaurant with naked people.

Guessing you're in Deutschland where nudity is a completely different kettle of fish tho. We have mixed naked saunas for starters and nobody bats an eyelid.

flimsywhimsy · 07/06/2023 14:15

The nude form is rarely aesthetically appealing, tbh. Even attractive people look weird with no clothes on, in many poses and activities.

No-one should have to see that when they're trying to eat! And no, I don't want to sit somewhere that a naked bum had been five minutes earlier. Yuck!

HoppingPavlova · 07/06/2023 14:18

I really don’t want to be putting my hands on seats that naked bums have been on. Naked bums, seating, high throughput of people, kids sticking hands on seats and putting them in their mouths, all seems a hell of a hygiene risk.

gettingoldisshit · 07/06/2023 14:18

It wouldn't bother me in the slightest!

MsRosley · 07/06/2023 14:20

Why do I have a strong intuition that if a naked woman went into this pub on her own, the staff would immediately ask her to get dressed or leave?

Famzonhol · 07/06/2023 14:20

sadlittlelifejane · 07/06/2023 13:51

It doesn't really bother me. It's a naked body. We all have one. Where do we draw the line on where we should cover up? Some would find a mini skirt offensive. You wouldn't call the police on them..

Well by that logic a man could sit on a playground park bench with an erection. He’s not harming anyone, it’s just a body, isn’t it? Would you draw the line against a mini-skirt? No, so what’s your problem with this?

EatYourVegetables · 07/06/2023 14:23

The thought of plonking my naked bottom on a pub chair 😣

The thought of plonking my trousered bottom on a chair where someone sat naked 😣

But a nice bit of publicity for the pub.

EatYourVegetables · 07/06/2023 14:25

There’s a thread on right now about a woman hovering over the toilet seat. What would she do in this pub??!!! 😂

Irequireausername · 07/06/2023 14:25

Why should others have to partake in their fetish? I would have been furious if i'd have been there with my kids. They were obviously wanting a reaction.

And there in lies the difference. Someone persuing an activity that they enjoy and makes them feel good but knowing how to do it with respect for others, and two exhibitionists who can facilitate their need to push social boundaries at the expense of others, because we are generally a torable lot who live and let live.

ArabeIIaScott · 07/06/2023 14:34

It's exhibitionism and/or fetishism.

YANBU, OP.

BertyMyrtle · 07/06/2023 14:35

The article suggests that the couple booked beforehand, implying that the pub knew they were coming in naked and agreed. This is unacceptable, as a previous poster mentioned, they made a unilateral decision to expose all of their customers to the naked couple on the premise of ‘inclusivity’. In doing so, they gave no thought to the other customers and their thoughts, views and positions. I have a bigger problem with the pub that the attention seeking chancers

Of course it's intended to cause alarm and distress. And to give the person doing so the opportunity to sneer at those who are alarmed and distressed. That is the only intention.

Presumably they didn't make the booking for 'Nigel, with his cock hanging out', though?
