Most women hoover above toilet seat in public toilets to pee?

I was out this weekend and had to use the toilet to pee. I normally hoover above toilet seat to pee in public toilets and was thinking to myself this is difficult especially if I need to do a long pee🙈😂 Is this what most women do too or am I being extra germ conscious and should just wipe the seat and sit down? Sorry if tmi but I'm just curious

I used to do this until my Dyson got too unwieldy to lug round the shopping mall so now I just take a dustpan and brush instead.

MadamWhiteleigh · 07/06/2023 07:56

I do. Hover, not hoover that is.

SmirnoffIceIsNice · 07/06/2023 07:56

I never take my hoover out with me, I only vacuum at home 😉

UnaOfStormhold · 07/06/2023 07:56

I'd never thought of taking a portable vacuum cleaner with me to clean the loos... but seriously I only hover if the toilet looks particularly grubby or the seat is broken.

MrsMitford3 · 07/06/2023 07:56

The problem with the hoverers is the splash usually left on the seat.

Please wipe it as I find it even grimmer to have to clean previous users wee

I never hover over the seat. Haven't caught anything horrific yet.

Janek · 07/06/2023 07:57

Women who hover above the toilet seat generally wee on it, leaving it unpleasant for the next person. Just give it a wipe if necessary and sit down!

🤣 took me a moment.

OP you are being extra. You can't catch anything through the backs of your thighs and by hovering you are more likely to wee on the seat making it gross for the next person. Just sit down - you'll be fine!

WeAreTheHeroes · 07/06/2023 07:58

Boom! @ShowOfHands

I don't and never have. What exactly do you think is going to happen if you actually sit on a loo? Obviously if there's water from the flush on there I'll wipe it with loo roll first.

Lealea2023 · 07/06/2023 07:58

I always hover, unless I'm in my own house and even then I tend to hover.

Newnamenewname109870 · 07/06/2023 07:58

I always wipe it down then cover with toilet paper (if it’s inside those plastic box things so I know it’s clean). I only hover if it’s especially grim, which is normally because someone else has hovered!

WimpoleHat · 07/06/2023 07:59

It’s a bit of plastic. Just sit on it. I don’t see the problem. Wash your hands afterwards.

NeedANewPhone1 · 07/06/2023 07:59

I sit. The seat touches the back of my legs. I don't use this body part for eating or anything else and I cover it with clothing. I wash my clothing. I don't worry about germs from this scenario.

highlandspooce · 07/06/2023 07:59

I have never hovered. I'm not physically able now but even before it never crossed my mind.

What is its purpose?

This.
I don't hover, I sit. I find it very upsetting when women who hover wee on the toilet seat and then don't clean it.
If everyone just sat it would be much more hygienic.

BiggerBoat1 · 07/06/2023 08:00

I just sit on the seat! Those who hover cause the problem as I assume they are the ones who pee on the seat. Grim.

Muhwanda · 07/06/2023 08:00

I don’t. It’s the hoverers that make it a mess in the first place.

LifeIsPainHighness · 07/06/2023 08:00

Vacuuming is going a bit far 😂

I never hover. I must be the only person on MN who wees normally

Xrays · 07/06/2023 08:01

I sit. Your bum is just skin. It’s not like any urine left on the seat is going to leap up into your vagina. Really doesn’t bother me at all.

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 07/06/2023 08:01

Hoverers are the reason the seats get covered in pee in the first place 🤢

I'm sure I read somewhere that it means you don't empty your bladder properly which leaves you more susceptible to infections.

I always sit 🤷‍♀️

Chasingsquirrels · 07/06/2023 08:01

I have never hovered above a toilet seat. I sit on it, as is intended.
I have caught many things in my life, none of them as a consequence of sitting on toilet seats.

MissDollyMix · 07/06/2023 08:01

No I don’t hover (or hoover) I sometimes give the seat a quick wipe down before I sit down. I’d only hover if the loo was really grim or missing a seat. Just sit down.

Sirzy · 07/06/2023 08:02

I thought it was hovering which actually poses more risk as it increases the chance of UTIs and similar?

MogsEgg · 07/06/2023 08:02

I bought a she-wee and use that now.

No need to touch the seat at all, shake it off into the bowl, wipe it with a bit of tissue and pop it in a waterproof case I've got them rinse it once I'm home.

I love it. Also use it when I go hiking because I've got a small bladder and like to drink alot of water.

Really recommend one if public toilets gross you out.

I have a little bag with the she-wee, a mini packet of wetwipes and hand sanitiser.
