Most women hoover above toilet seat in public toilets to pee?

I was out this weekend and had to use the toilet to pee. I normally hoover above toilet seat to pee in public toilets and was thinking to myself this is difficult especially if I need to do a long pee🙈😂 Is this what most women do too or am I being extra germ conscious and should just wipe the seat and sit down? Sorry if tmi but I'm just curious

I don’t.

Hoverers are the ones pissing on the seat, and possibly the floor, therefore ruining things for everyone else.

Daisyinthegrass · 07/06/2023 08:34

My mum used to make me hover when I was a kid. I felt rebellious when I decided I wasn't going to hover anymore. I was surprised to discover recently my sister still hovers.

“Come tell me how you pee, teehee” Hmm

I did wonder ...

I do. Hover, not hoover that is.

Spoilsport! 🙄

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 07/06/2023 08:36

Just sit down. You won't catch anything through the skin of your thighs. The rest of us don't want to have your piss splashed all over everything

MereDintofPandiculation · 07/06/2023 08:36

I’ve never felt the need to shower when I get home simply because I have sat on the seat of a public loo.

In general, germs that live in wet places (eg urine splashes) don’t cope well with dry places (like the backs of your thighs as you go about the rest of your day).

LightlySearedontheRealityGrill · 07/06/2023 08:36

I wipe the seat and sit, hovering is unhygienic and uncomfortable.

butterpuffed · 07/06/2023 08:36

Whenever you decide to hoover
You'll have to be a quick moover
Cos when you have a slash
On the seat it'll splash
You'll have to go undercoover

RoxyMuzak · 07/06/2023 08:37

When my aunt went on a trip to France, her mother told her to make a kind of sitting mat out of newspaper so she wouldn't 'catch something' from those foreign toilets.

Luddite26 · 07/06/2023 08:37

I'm more bothered about touching the door handle on the way out of public loos because of all the manky people who don't wash their hands.

Shodan · 07/06/2023 08:37

I would only routinely hover if I felt the need to incorporate thigh strengthening exercise into my loo-visiting regime. As it is, I look on going to the lav as a chance for a Nice Sit Down that no-one can accuse me of being lazy for.

Some public loos used to (may still do )provide lovely paper covers for the loo seat too. Which tells you that women expect to be sitting, not hovering.

bellac11 · 07/06/2023 08:38

No my knees wont allow me to do that.

Also, you'll probably be exposed to more germs and bacteria turning the tap off once you've finished washing your hands and then touching the door handle on the way out.

Tortiemiaw · 07/06/2023 08:38

My mother used to do that! Or put loo paper all over the seat. I had no idea it was still a thing !

LakeTiticaca · 07/06/2023 08:41

Toilet seats are manufactured from materials that don't harbour germs on the surface. Just give it a wipe round with bog roll if you wish, then sit and pèe at leisure 😉

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 07/06/2023 08:41

Op are you a cis woman or someone trying to pass as cis female? Do you also carry spare tampons with you at all times & try to initiate conversations at the sink?

Hollyppp · 07/06/2023 08:43

WimpoleHat · 07/06/2023 07:59

It’s a bit of plastic. Just sit on it. I don’t see the problem. Wash your hands afterwards.

Same as this.

I just sit. I don’t think you can ‘catch anything’ and hopefully we are all showering fairly regularly so literally it’s a non issue.

Its actually terrible for your pelvic floor to hover as you don’t fully empty your bladder and it causes weakness

TolkiensFallow · 07/06/2023 08:45

No, most people don’t do this. It’s totally neurotic.

I used to do this until my Dyson got too unwieldy to lug round the shopping mall so now I just take a dustpan and brush instead.

This made me chuckle Grin

SmartHome · 07/06/2023 08:47

Hoverer here. And I wipe if there's a splash, which there usually isn't.

I think I've done this since I saw a cleaner in a motorway service station wiping all the toilet seats in a row with a single cloth 🤮

I'd.never sit on a public loo seat unless I'd wiped it myself first with a wetwipe or something.

JustDanceAddict · 07/06/2023 08:48

Never hovered!

Nice one 👏🏻

Muddygreenfingers · 07/06/2023 08:49

Oh my god.

So those who hover, spray the seat with piss, therefore making it even dirtier for the next person. Basically making the world an even dirtier place.
Just sit on the damn seat.

Figgygal · 07/06/2023 08:49

Literally never crossed my mind not to sit tbh

Oldermum84 · 07/06/2023 08:49

I'm far too lazy to hover.

But they're wiping each seat with actual cleaner as well, which kills germs?

I don't know. Wouldn't bother me that much.
