To think it's blooming freezing!

I've come downstairs and to be frank it's blooming cold. I have put a jumper on but am still not that warm. I know my temperature regulation is up the spout as I have long covid but am now wondering if it is just me or if others are feeling that it's exceptionally cold for June too - im tempted to put the heating on!

I agree with you, I have a nasty feeling we're in for a rotten Summer.

Justonedayatatime11 · 06/06/2023 10:49

It's freezing here in Norfolk. Heating on, hoodie and fluffy socks! So tempted to put my summer clothes back in the loft

meatyryvita · 06/06/2023 10:49

I'm working from home and have just put my under desk heater on!

MagpiePi · 06/06/2023 10:50

Yes, I'm back to 3 layers plus thick socks and feeling miserable.

My heating has been coming on in the evenings.

Summer787Cyclist · 06/06/2023 10:52

I went for a sea swim early this morning and the windchill was 8/9c it certainly felt pretty cold and I’m struggling to warm up again despite hat and 4 layers! I was lulled into false sense of security after a few 20c sunny swims. I dip all year so I’m used to cold weather but it took me by surprise this morning!

Crispymandm · 06/06/2023 10:52

We are north east and you’re not wrong, it’s supposed to be June! I still haven’t packed away the winter clothing .

Crikeyalmighty · 06/06/2023 10:52

Ah- in that case I'm resetting the thermostat!! I was concerned it was part of my condition!!

There is a cold wind, I just put the washing out, its freezing. Its 18c in my house, I do not think that is warm at all.

DeathMetalMum · 06/06/2023 10:54

We have just had about 10 days of glorious sunshine in the NW. Today it feels cooler and there's thick cloud. The house was just starting to become uncomfortably warm at night so it's nice and I have all the windows and back door open, I am sitting under a blanket as it's chilly. As soon as the door is shut it will warm up again though.

StoneColdAlibi · 06/06/2023 10:58

Where are you?

Laiste · 06/06/2023 10:59

Same as pp - i went out into the garden earlier to pick up something DD had left out there and thought ''fuck putting the washing out here - it's bloody cold!'' and scuttled in. Then it drizzled. (midlands)

So it's indoors drying today.

It's the bloody stupid north wind. And is it me or was the BBC weather really confusing this morning? Me, DH and eldest DD all took something different from it for the next few days ! 😂

Cloud but might disperse, drizzle but not much, sun if the cloud goes away, and then - really nice for the weekend! but raining with thunderstorms .... 🤔i think they don't really know!

Ponoka7 · 06/06/2023 11:01

It's going to be 18 here by 1pm, which is good for the UK in June. Our wildlife and plants need the break.

DappledThings · 06/06/2023 11:03

Perfect summer for me so far. No more than about 19 yet, house is plenty cool inside and I'm mostly still comfortable in jumpers. Just the way I like it. If it never gets over 20 all summer and stats cool inside I'll be delighted.

Laiste · 06/06/2023 11:06

See, i like it scorchio and get the hump about having to wear anything other than shorts and a vest top jumpers after May ....

It's lovely here (NW). We've had 20 degrees plus every day for the last week and a half and it's set to continue to the weekend at least. It's been so sunny, we've been having water fights in the garden. It's cloudier today but still some sun and quite warm. Rain forecast for the weekend but even warmer temperatures.

the80sweregreat · 06/06/2023 11:07

Going to be hot at the weekend apparently

Crikeyalmighty · 06/06/2023 11:08

@the80sweregreat yes I just checked- I was freezing yesterday too

The sun has broken back through the clouds just now in the north west. Bloody lovely weather

Enfys1982 · 06/06/2023 11:09

It’s been glorious here for the last fortnight. So much so I wondered why the media hadn’t spoken about but that’s obviously because it’s cold in the South East 🙄 when there’s a heatwave down there I’m sure we’ll here about it.

Laiste · 06/06/2023 11:12

Just had a look out of interest and the hour by hour weather for our area shows the sun coming out at 9 o'clock this evening! Great! 😂

the80sweregreat · 06/06/2023 11:14

To be honest , this weather suits me and the idea of higher temps or any humidity makes me feel a bit depressed. I'm the opposite to the ' love it hot' people , but I do go abroad on holiday occasionally, but it is easier to stay cool and I can bear it a bit more.

Applesinmyhouse · 06/06/2023 11:16

Just went out into the garden to check what the dog was doing. It’s 13 degrees with a chill wind. Feels like March, not June. I read on another thread it’s because the jet stream is disrupted & there’s an arctic wind blowing down on us?

frustratednomad · 06/06/2023 11:17

13 degrees here now, it reached the dizzy heights of 14 yesterday. I'm getting seriously peed off with the weather man keep saying how hot it is in the west and smiling when he says how cold it is in the east. WE KNOW!

the80sweregreat · 06/06/2023 11:18

The forecast yesterday mentioned the jet stream
It'll be 28 on Saturday and humid , but it won't last long.
I think it'll suddenly get hotter in a few weeks time and July will be scorching.
The lack of rain worries me more in the south east though.
